(p. 39) ataguḍu ataguḍu. [Tel.] n. A miserable creature, a poor wretch. బలహీనుడు. దీనుడు. 'అతగులచేద్రు పదుడు బలహృతు డైపట్టు బడవంత హీనుడె.' M. vi. 7.

(p. 80) arigonu ari-gonu. [Tel.] v. a. To check, stop, oppose. అడ్డముతగులు. 'ఆలకు బెబ్బులియరిగొన్నయట్లు.' Pal. 108.

(p. 172) usuru usuru [Tel.] n. Breath, life; strength, vigour, grief; a sigh, affliction, plague, hardship, evil result; retribution or result. వాని ఉసురు నీకు తగులును his trouble will come upon you. ఆడదాని ఉసురు తగలకపోదు the sigh of a woman will not fail to bring trouble (to him who caused her grief). వారి ఉసురు తాకి వాడు చెడిపోవును their sorrows shall be visited on his head. ఉసురుపోసికొను or ఉసురుపుచ్చుకొను usuru-pōsi-konu. v. a. To cause sighs. To afflict. నా ఉసురు ఏల పోసుకొంటావు why do you torment me thus? ఇది చేసినందు ప్రజల యొక్క ఉసురు పోసుకొనెను this called down the curses of the people. ఉసురుతో కూడా alive.

(p. 286) kīlu kīlu. [Tel.] n. A joint, a hinge. అదేమర. Pitch (or tar.) తారు. The point of a riddle మర్మము. Expedient ఉపాయము. చేతికీళ్లు the joints of the hand. ఓడకీలు (Vēma. 628.) 'కీలుగాడెడలింప గెడసిన బొమ్మల కైనడి తురంగన్రజంబు' M. VII. iii. 72. కీలుకత్తి a folding knife or hasp-knife. కీలుకొను or కీలుపడు kīlu-konu. v. n. To be united, join, be composed. కూడుకొను, తగులు. To be fixed in నాటు. 'కెంపుచెక్కడంపుసని కీల్కొనుబంగరుపావలెక్కి' Radha. iii. 13. 'కేవల పాపకర్మములగీల్కొనియున్న నిశాటకోటికిన్.' V. P. ii. 304. కీలుకొలుపు or కీలుపరుచు kīlu-kolupu. v. a. To fasten, unite, to lay, put. కీలుగంటు kīlu-ganṭu. n. A knot or crest of hair. వెండ్రుకలదూముడి. కీల్౛డ kīl-zaḍa. n. A woman's plaited tress of hair.

For, on account of. అందును గురించిన తగులుబడి the expense incurred for this. అతణ్నిగురించిన జాబు a letter regarding him. గురించు gurinṭsu. (గురి+ఉంటు.) v. t. Five (in counting, as three hands, i.e., fifteen.) అరచెయ్యి or లోచెయ్యి the palm of the hand. మీదిచెయ్యి or మీజెయి the back of the hand. ముంజెయ్యి the wrist. మోచెయ్యి the elbow. దండచెయ్యి the upper arm. చెయిదము, చెయిది or చెయ్దు cheyidamu. [Tel. from చేయు.] n. An act, action, doing. కృత్యము, చేష్ట. 'చేతకానిచెయిదములు చేయక.' M. XII. ii. 415. చెయిపట్టు cheyi-paṭṭu. v. n. To adopt, protect, take by the hand. To seize or ravish a woman. To marry. To foster. చెయ్యిన్రాలలలు or చేవ్రాలు cheyi-vrālu. n. Handwriting, a signature. వారందరు ఒక చెయ్యిగానున్నారు they are all hand in hand, hand and glove with each other. ఆ పని చెయ్యికూడివచ్చినది the business turned out well. చేతికిందిమనిషి a servant, a slave. చేతిపని hand-work. చేతిసొమ్ము money in hand, cash. అతని చేతివాడు one of his creatures or hangers on. చెయ్యివెల sale for ready money. రొక్కపు వెల. చెయ్యి సాగినంతలో when your hand is in, when you have the opportunity. In some phrases the word may be left untranslated: as నా చేతికిచ్చెను he gave it to me; lit. to my hand చెయికావలి means a supply of rice, &c., provided for dinner at a future stage in a journey. చెయ్యికావలికి నాలుగు రూపాయలు ఎత్తిపెట్టుకొన్నాడు he laid up something to meet contingencies. కరిడిచెయ్యి అద్దము like a looking glass in the hand of a bear. చేతకాని idle, paltry, incapable. In some compounds it means extra, as చెయ్యికావలి or చెయ్యిజాగ్రత a reserve, or extra ground; చెయ్యితడి ఆరకముందు తీర్చివెయ్యి do it before your hand cools. చెయ్యియీటె a small spear. తాళపుచెయ్యి a key. నీచేతినుంచి తగులుతుంది, or, చెయ్యికరుచును you will have to lay out some money. చెయ్యిచేసికొను to handle, interfere, meddle with, to use the hand: to take the law into one's own hands and beat. చెయ్యివిడుచు to abandon, desert, give over (a person.) చెయ్యిచూచు to feel the pulse. చెయ్యితిరిగిన cheyyi-tirigina. adj. Experienced, expert, handy. చెయువు or చెయ్వు cheyuvu. n. An act, an action.

(p. 501) tagiliñcu tagilinṭsu. [Tel. causal of తగులు.] v. a. To apply (paint, a bandage, punishment, a rule, the law, &c.) To fasten (a bolt, &c.) To inflict (pain.) To attach, fix, insert, lock, bolt, hang on, stick into, అగ్నితగిలించు to set fire. నన్ను ఆ పనిలో తగిలించిరి they involved me in that business. వానికి సంకెలలు తగిలించిరి they put fetters upon him. తగిలించుకొను tagilinṭsu-konu. v. a. (middle voice) to put on, apply to oneself, to become involved in, to catch, to contract. రోగమును తగిలించుకొను to catch or contract disease. సంకిళ్లు తగిలించుకొన్నాడు he put on fetters.
