(p. 2) aṅkapoṅkamulu or అంకపొంకాలు anka-ponkamulu [Tel.] n. Fierceness, fury, violence. Enmity, opposition. విరోధము బిడ్డకు జ్వరము అంకపొంకములుగా వచ్చినది the child was attacked with a violent fever. [Other forms are అంకాపొంకములు and అంకాపొంకాలు.]

(p. 7) aṇṭa anṭa. [Tel.] n. A crowd. A platter formed of leaves stitched together విస్తరి. ఒక అంటపొడుచుకొనిరా stitch the leaves as a platter. అంటగట్టు anṭagaṭṭu. [From అంటు to touch] v. a. To join together, to unite, to tie together చేర్చికట్టు. దీనితో అంటగట్టినపద్దులు the items joined with this. అంటలుగట్టు v. To assemble in mobs. గుంపులుకూడు, జతిచేరు. 'అంటలుగట్టి చెల్కలకు నాండ్రును బిడ్డలు కూరకోయ.' ఆముక్త. iii.

(p. 16) ampu ampu. [Tel.] v. a. To send, forward, despatch. పంపు సాగనంపు to accompany a friend a little way so as to set him on his journey. పిలవనంపు to send for one. అంపించు. same as అంపు or పంపు to send. అంపుదోడు ampu-dōḍu. n. A companion in a journey. దారికి సహాయముగా వచ్చేమనిషి. వాడు అంపుదోళ్లకు బిడ్డకాన్పులకు తిరుగుతున్నాడు he employs himself as a companion and as a nurse.

(p. 20) akki akki. [Tel.] n. A skin disease, eczema. బిడ్డలకు లేచే ఒక గజ్జి.

(p. 23) agavutagavulu agavu-tagavulu. [Tel.] n. Wedding gifts. పెండ్లిలో అల్లునికి కూతురికి యిచ్చే వస్త్రభూషణాదులు. 'అల్లుడని యాడుబిడ్డని యగవుతగవులంపకము శుభశోభనమని.' N. 9. 97.

(p. 44) addu addu. [Tel.] v. a. To press gently. To dip, to print with colours. ముంచు. 'ఇద్ధంబుగా పాలనద్దుము నీటనద్దుము మాకింకనన్యధా లేదు.' BD. v. 319 సిరా అద్దుము blot the ink. కండ్లను అద్దుకొనుము press it to the eyes as a mark of respect. అద్దుముద్దు n. Sport, play. బిడ్డ యొక్క చేష్టలు. ఆ బిడ్డ యొక్క అద్దు ముద్దు చూడక చచ్చినాడు he died without seeing the child play.

(p. 59) annaprāśanamu anna-prāṣanamu. [Skt.] n. The ceremony of giving an infant solid food for the first time. చంటిబిడ్డకు మొట్టమొదట అన్నముపెట్టే శుభప్రయోజనము.

(p. 61) apatyamu apatyamu. [Skt.] n. A child (male or female) offspring. సంతానము, బిడ్డ. అపత్యప్రత్యయము a patronymical affix. అపత్యార్థశబ్దము a patronymic.

(p. 66) appuḍu appuḍu. [Tel. from ఆ+పొద్దు] adv. Then, at that time (This is also used as a defective noun.) Dative అప్పటికి at that time, అప్పట్లో (locative) at that time. అప్పటినుంచి since that time. అట్లా చెప్పేటప్పటికి when he said so. మరియొకప్పుడు at another time. In compounds it means 'When', as వాడు వచ్చినప్పుడు when he came. ఒకప్పుడు వచ్చెను ఒకప్పుడు రాకపోయెను he sometimes came and sometimes stayed away. అప్పుడే (emphatic form) just then, already. అప్పుడే పుట్టిటనబిడ్డ a child just born. అప్పుడప్పుడు now and then. అప్పటిరాజులు the rulers of those days, the then princes.

(p. 73) amaḍalu or అమడబిడ్డలు amaḍalu. [Tel.] n. Twins. కవలలు. అమడయిండ్లు similar chambers, twin rooms. అమడకాయ a twin fruit, two fruits grown into one.

(p. 78) araka , అరకడ, అర్కడ or అరకటము araka. [Tel.] n. The hip. రొండి. నితం బపార్స్వము. అది బిడ్డను అరకటబెట్టుకొని వచ్చినది she came with a child on the hip. 'జనకుడర్కడ బెట్టుకొని యొక్కనాడు, చనిసరోపర తీరమున బాలునునిచి' BD. vi. 277.మునిపుత్రున్ అరకడనిడి ప్రాఙ్ముఖుడై. M. V. iii. 307. 'మునికొమారునిదనమూపుపైనునిచి యరకటంబునకాంత ననువుగానునిచి' HD. i. 1752.

(p. 79) araramu or అరరి araramu. [Skt.] n. A door. తలుపు. అరళము for అరరము n A door. 'తాళంబులు, మయోత్తాళుండైన బిడ్డనికి నడ్డంబుగా కకీలూడిపడిన అరళంబులు విరళంబులైన.' Bhāga. X. iii. 42.

(p. 81) arimi arimi. [Tel.] n. A disease to which children are subject, tonsilitis, బిడ్డలగొంతునకు వచ్చే ఒక రోగము. 'ఏలపలుకవు చెప్పవే యన్న నీకు, నరిమియో కోపయోయంగిటి ముల్లో.' Bhallana iii. 726.

(p. 112) āḍu āḍu. [Tel.] adj. Female. ఇవి ఆడుమాటలు these are a woman's words. ఆడుచందము āḍuṭsandamu. The female shape, feminine disguise. B. viii. 445. ఆడుమొర A woman's shriek. R. v. 207. ఆడుతోడు āḍu-tōḍu. [Tel.] A female companion. ఆడుది āḍudi. A woman. ఆడుబిడ్డ āḍu-biḍḍa. A little girl. The sister of a woman's husband. ఆడుముండ āḍu-muṇḍa. An abusive word for a woman: equivalent to slut, jade, wretch. ఆడువీడు woman's town, a place without brave men. See ఆడ adj.

(p. 117) ābiḍa , ఆవిడె ā-biḍa. [Tel. ఆ+బిడ్ఙ.] Pron. She, that woman. ముసలావిడ the old woman.
