(p. 127) āśa āṣa. [Skt.] n. Love, attachment, desire, wish, hope, passion, inclination, curiosity, avarice. ఆశాపాశము or ఆశాబంధము the chain of our lusts, fleshly ties. ఆశకొలుపు āsa-kolupu. v. t. To cause to desire, to allure, tempt, incite, encourage, to hold out prospects. ఆశపడు āṣa-paḍu. To desire, covet, long for. ఆశాపాతకుడు āṣā-pātakuḍu. n. A covetous man. ఆసపెట్టు āṣa-peṭṭu. To raise hopes or expectations, give hopes, tantalize. ఆశాబంధము āṣā-bandhamu. n. The bond of love or desire.

(p. 956) maragu or మరుగు maragu [Tel.] v. n. and a. To use, to be used, accustomed, or addicted to. అలవాటుపడు, పరిచితమగు. To desire, covet, ఆశించు, ఆశపడు. To boil fiercely, మసలకాగు. To fall in love with, to be enamoured of, మోహించు, ఆసక్తుడగు. వాడు దానిని మరగినాడు he fell in love with her. తాగమరిగినవాడు one who is addicted to drink. మరగుచున్నచమురు boiling oil. మరగకాగు to boil fiercely. 'కరుగు చమరుగుచు కటకటాయనుచు, కందుచుగుందుచు కళవళింపుచును.' L. viii. 52. 'వాలిమృతుడౌట పోలగనాలో లక్ష్మణుడెరంగి యర్కజుతోడం, బాలుడువోలెందాలిమి మాలియిదేమిటికివనట మరిగెద వింకన్.' BRK. x. 343. మరపడము or మరపుట mara-paḍamu. n. Training, breaking in. అలవాటు చేయడము. మరపు marapu. v. a. To train, break in. అలవాటుచేయు. మరపరాని untameable, indomitable. మరగించు maragintsu. v. a. To enamour. మోహింపజేయు. To cause to boil. కాగించు.

(p. 998) muccaṭa muṭsṭsaṭa. [Tel.] n. Conversation, discourse, talk. సల్లాపము. A story; news, tidings, వృత్తాంతము. Wish, desire, longing, కోరిక. Love, ప్రేమము, వేడుక. వెర్రి ముచ్చట prattle, tattle. మనకువచ్చిన నష్టము వట్టిముచ్చటకాదు the loss we suffered is no mere talk, or is no trifle. అది నాకు ముచ్చటగుచున్నది I am fond of it. వానికి మాట్లాడడమే ఒకముచ్చట he is fond of conversation. 'ఒచ్చెంబులేనికూరిమి ముచ్చటలాడుచుమ.' T. iii. 7. 'వచ్చి నా ముచ్చటలదీర్పు మెచ్చుగాను.' N. vii. 182. ముచ్చటగానుండే elegant, handsome, attractive, charming, pleasing, ముద్దుగానుండే. ముచ్చటకాడు muṭsṭsaṭa-kāḍu. n. One who desires, కోరికగలవాడు. ముచ్చటపడు muṭsṭsata-paḍu. v. n. To fall in love with, be enamoured of, to wish, long for, desire, ఆశపడు, కోరు. ముచ్చటించు, ముచ్చటలాడు or ముచ్చటాడు muṭsṭsaṭ-inṭsu. v. n. To converse, to talk. సంభాషించు.

(p. 1009) muriyu muriyu. [Tel.] v. n. To exult while walking.నడచునప్పుడు కులుకు. To exult, rejoice in hope, to evince a strong desire. ఉల్లసించు, ఆశపడు. To turn, తిరుగు. Sar. D. 376. 'తొట్రుపల్కులుముద్దు దొల్కునవ్వులుగాంచి మురిసియశోదసమ్మోద మంద.' Radha. i. 10. To turn, as the face (మొగమును) త్రిప్పు. To break, as the point of a spear, &c. తెగు, విరుగు, తునియలగు. మురియబడి muriya-baḍu. v. n. To excel, rejoice, be proud, అతిశయించు. మురిపము or మురిపెము muripamu. n. A proud manner of walking, నడకయందలి కులుకు. Exultation, joy, gladness, gaiety, gracefulness. ముద్దు, ముద్దుతనము. Caressing, fonding, coaxing. ఉల్లాసము, లాలన, శృంగారము, సర సరసత. Pride, గర్వము,. శృంగార గర్వము. మురిపపు or మురిపెపు muripapu. adj. Graceful. సొగసైన. 'మురిపపుచిరునవ్వు.' Padma. iii. 13.

(p. 1031) mēlu mēlu. [Tel.] n. Good, kindness. ఉపకారము. Good fortune, prosperity, favour, happiness, క్షేమము, శుభము. Profit, advantage, లాభము. Righteousness, పుణ్యము, సుకృతము. Excellence, superiority, విశేషము. Love, మోహము. Pride, మదము. 'చదువుల మేలులేదొ.' P. iv. 119. అక్కడికి పోతే మేలు it would be better to go there. అదేమేలు so much the better. మేలెరుగు to be grateful, remember kindness. కీడుమేలు తెలిసినవాడు one who knows good and evil. 'మేలుకలిగేవాడు in time of prosperity. 'తత్సుతశతకంబుకంటె నొక సూనృత వాక్యము మేలుభూవరా.' Bhārat మేలు or మేలి adj. Upper, higher. ఉపరి, అధికము, పై. Good, better. Noble, fine, excellent, superior, శుభమైన, శ్రేష్ఠమైన. మేలుమిద్దె an upper storey. 'లోపలియంతస్తులోని మేల్మిద్దె.' Sārang. D. 113. మేలుగోడ the top wall, battlement, parapet or rail wall. మేలుముసుకు the outer cover. మేలుమాట or మేలువార్త happy news. adv. Up, above, over, మేలు or మేలుమేలు interj. Well done! excellent! better and better! జయ, జయ జయ. మేలుకట్టు mēli-kaṭṭu. n. An awning, a canopy. వితానము. 'మేలిమిమీరగా మేలుకట్టులుగట్టు, రమణీయ చీనాంబరములుగట్టి.' 'ఎవ్వనిచూచి మేలుపడితే యరవింద దళాక్షి.' Vijaya. iii. 37. మేలుబంతి mēlu-banti. n. The top line, the copy set to a schoolboy learning to write. A pattern, మాదిరి. One who is or sets an example; a paragon of excellence, an example, ఉదాహరణము. adj. Excellent, శ్రేష్ఠము, శ్రేష్ఠుడు, శ్రేష్ఠురాలు. 'మేదినీనాధులకునెల్ల మేలుబంతిగా బ్రవర్తింపకేల, దుష్కర్మివైతి.' Vish. ii. 116. 'నిజచరిత్రంబు భావిబూభుజులకెల్ల మేలుబంతిగవసుమతియేలుచుండె.' ib. vi. 63. మేలలుమచ్చు mēlu-maṭsṭsu. n. An upper storey, చంద్రశాల. మేలుమచ్చులు a kind of game played by boys. మేలురాసి mēlu rāṣi. n. The top part of a heap of winnowed grain. తూర్పెత్తిన ధాన్యపుసోగు. మేలువాడు mēlu-vāḍu. n. A lover, విటుడు, వలపుకాడు, మంచివాడు. 'అంతరాధకుమేలు వాడైమురారి.' A. v. 56.

(p. 1235) vyāmōhamu vyā-mōhamu. [Skt.] n. Inordinate affection, lust, carnal desire. మిక్కిలి ఆశ, అత్యంతమోహము. 'వ్యామోహంబునులోభము. కామక్రోధంబుమదవికారము దర్పోర్దామమును లేక యాత్మారాముండై భిక్షుడున్నరంజిల్లుసుమీ.' Vish. iv. 182. వ్యామోహించు or వ్యామోహపడు vyā-mōhinṭsu. v. a. To lust, desire, or love inordinately. మిక్కిలి ఆశపడు.
