(p. 41) atiśajhamu ati-ṣayamu. [Skt.] adj. Much, excessive (In Telugu) Marvellous, wonderful, uncommon. అత్యంతమైన, చోద్యమైన n. Excellence, pre-eminence, pride. అతిశయము. ఎక్కువ ఇదియేమి అతిశయము what great matter is this. అతిశయపడు v. To be proud of. గర్వించు అతిశయించు or అతిశయిల్లు v. To overmatch, surpass. To increase, become augmented. మించు, ఎక్కువ అగు. అతిశయోక్తి exaggeration, hyperbole.

(p. 132) inda or ఇందము inda. [Tel.] Lo here! take it, here it is, come and take. ఇదిగో తీసికొనుము. ఇందండి here it is! take it, sir, రామా. iv.

(p. 136) idi idi. [Tel.] pron. She, it, this. The 6th case is దీని and the acc. దీనిని as దీని నెరిగింపు declare this. The abl. is దీన or దీనిచేత 'hereby.' plu. ఇవి నాకు చాలా ఇదిగానున్నది I am very much out of sorts. ఆ నడత బహు యిదిగా నున్నది that conduct is not the thing, is so and so. ఇదిగో, or ఇదుగో idigō [ఇది+కొమ్ము lit take this] interj. Look! do you see! behold! here it is! ఇదుగో యిస్తాను అదుగో యిస్తున్నానని అంటాడు he puts me off with empty promises Lit. Here I will give it, there I will give it, says he. ఇదుగో వస్తానని చెప్పెను or ఇదుగో వచ్చెదననెను he promised to return presently. ఇదె Same as ఇదిగో.

(p. 266) kāka kāka. [Tel. imperative of అగు.] v. n. (So) be it. అనుటయునట్లు కాకయనె on his saying so, so be it, said he. కాకయేమి why not? నీవు సుఖముగా నుందువుగాక mayest thou be happy. పోసిరోకాక probably they poured; they may have poured. కాక (negative imperfect participle of అగు.) Not being so, disliking. గిట్టక, సరిపడక. adv. Spitefully, through enmity. నామీదకాక యిది చేసినాడు he did this through ill will to me. కాక. (affix.) Except, besides, unless, but: ఇదికాక and besides this, further.

(p. 270) kāni or గాని kāni. [Tel.] (conj. denoting an alternative.) But, either, or, except, unless. And not, nor, Rather, Before. జాజియొక్కటియెకాని సకలకుసమ విసరసంపదచేనొప్పె వసుధయెల్ల , విరహణియెకానిధరణిపై వివిధజనులు సంతసములొందజేసె వసంతవేళ.' Sunandā Parinyam, iv. 22. 'ఆలలు మగనిమాట కడ్డంబు వచ్చెనా ఆలలుకాదది వానివ్రాలుకాని.' (Vēma.) ఇంతేకాని నేనేమెరుగను I know nothing but this. ఇదియేమోకాని I cannot tell what this may be. అదిగాని యిదిగాని either that or this. ఆపని పది దినములకుగాని కాదు that work cannot be finished in less than ten days. రేపుగాని రాడు he will not come here before to-morrow. ఉద్యోగము చిక్కుననే అపేక్ష ఉంటేగాని నేను అక్కడ ఉండను I would not have remained there had I not hoped to gain employment. ఇది అతని చేతగాని మరి యొకనిచేతకాదు he alone can do it, no one else can. ఎల్లవిధముల నిను వధియించిగాని పురికి నురుగముగావున for we will not return without slaying thee. అతడు వస్తేనేగాని యీపని కానేరదు unless he comes we cannot effect this. కాని or కానీ (for కానిమ్ము) imp. verb denoting assent. Let it be done. Be it so. Never mind. Very well. ఆ పని ముందరకానీ let that be done first. కానీ కానీ నీ కావరమణతు very well, I will crush your pride.

(p. 303) kūḍu kūḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To be fit. తగు. To unite చేరు. To be possible. To accrue, be amassed, gained, acquired, come to hand. To agree, be united. v. a. To meet. To add or sum up. ఇందులో కూడినపని a matter connected herewith. దొమ్మికూడివచ్చిరి they came in a a mob. ఇదియును కూడక పోయిన and if this be out of the question. ఇది కూడకుంటే if this is impracticable. ఇక్కడికి రాకూడక as I could not go there. వారు నోరెత్తగూడలేదు they could not say a word. కూడని kūḍani. adj. Unsuitable, improper. కూడనిమాట an unappropriate word. కూడబడు kūḍa-baḍu. v. n. To meet, unite చేరు. కూడబెట్టు kūḍa-beṭṭu. v. a. To collect. చేర్చు. To save as money. కూడమి kūḍami. n. Impossibility. కూడముట్టు kūḍa-muṭṭu. v. t. To run after తరుముకొనిపోవు, to overtake or come up with కలిసికొను. కూడలి kūḍali. n. Joining, meeting. కూడలిపట్టు a place of meeting. కూడలిదారి kūḍali-dāri. n. The place where various roads meet. కూడలిరాయి kūḍali-rāyi. n. A corner stone. కూడలివాయి kūḍali-vāyi. n. The gable end of a house. రెండుపంచలుచేరిన మూలనున్న నీటిదారి. కూడిక kūḍika. n. Junction, చేరిక. Collocation, juxtaposition. Saving, frugality. Partnership. కూడికవాండ్లు partners in merchandise పాలికాపులు (Vizag.) కూడుకొను kūḍu-konu. v. a. To associate with, to unite. కూడుదల kūḍudala. n. Gain, profit. లాభము.

(p. 362) gāka gāka. [Tel.] affix. Except, besides, unless, but. ఇదిగాక and besides this, further.

(p. 385) go go. [Tel. for కొనుము.] An affix used in pointing out any thing, as అదిగొ, ఇదిగొ, &c.

(p. 390) gō gō. [Tel.] adv. There! look there! See on గొ. అదిగో, ఇదిగో.

(p. 555) taikku taikku. [Tel.] n. An interjection in games like play! bang! తైక్కుమని fleetingly. ఇదిఊరక రెండునాళ్లకు తైక్కుమని పోయేది గాని శాశ్వతముగా నిలిచేదికాదు this is a thing that vanishes in a couple of days, it has no permanence.

(p. 557) toṭatoṭa or తుటతుట toṭa-toṭa. [Tel.] adv. (Trembling) violently, perceptibly (Shuddering.) ఇదిరి. 'తొడయును నధరంబు తొటతొటనదిరె.' L. iv. 313.

(p. 666) nīti nīti. [Skt.] n. Justice, right, morality, righteousness. న్యాయము. Policy, morals. Philisophy, good sense. Conduct. దుర్నీతి immorality. ఇదినీతియె is this right? నీతి శాస్త్రము Ethics. నీతిచెప్పు to advise, counsel. నీతిమాలినవాడు a bad man. నీతిపరుడు nīti-paruḍu. n. A moral man. నీతిహీనుడు nīti-hīnuḍu. n. A fool, an immoral person.

(p. 800) poṅgu pongu. [Tel.] v. n. To effervesce; to boil or bubble up, overflow, boil over. To swell. To forment. To exult, to be overjoyed, elated, to be in ecstasy. సంతోషించు. To become proud, గర్వించు. పొంగి బోర్లపడు to boil over with pride or delight. ఎండచేత కండ్లు పొంగినవి the eyes are inflamed by the glare. పొంగునీళ్లు boiling water. పొంగు pongu. n. Effervescence, boiling or bubbling up, overflowing. Excess of joy. సంతోషము. Pride, గర్వము. Eruption of the measles. Boiling water in which rice is to be cooked, ఎసరుకాగిననీళ్లు, చిట్టుడుకునీళ్లు. ఎసరుపొంగి పోతున్నది the water is boiling over. నీ పొంగుకుంగ may your pride perish. ఇదియేమి చూచుకొన్న పొంగు on what do you pride yourself? పొంగులక్షణము symptoms of an eruption of measles. పొంగుప్రాలు pongu-prālu. n. A sort of grain. పొంగలించు pongalinṭsu. v. n. To stand erect; to be proud, నిక్కు. పొంగారు pong-āru. (పొంగు+ఆరు.) v. n. To be full, నిండారు., To swell out, ఉబుకు. To rejoice, సంతోషించు. To excel, to be proud, అతిశయించు, విజృంభించు, నిక్కు 'తూర్యములపటుధ్వాన మడరినింగి పొంగారె నత్యంత నిశ్చలంబులయ్యె సైనికినికరంబులద్భుతముగ.' M. VIII. iii. 273. పొంగించు ponginṭsu. To boil. To delight, to please much. చేరెడుబియ్యము పొంగించుకొనినాడు he boiled a handful of rice.

(p. 1040) mona mona. [Tel.] n. The point, end, extremity. ఆగ్రము, తీక్ష్ణాగ్రము. An army, or detachment, సేన. A tube. తెగ. A military array. వ్యూహము. A tribe, తెగ. The front, ముందు. 'మన మొనలకువశముగాదు మరలు పమింకన్.' M. VI. ii. 97. 'లోమొన, వెలిమొన, ఉసిమొన, ముమ్మొన, చతురమొన, పుణ్యపుమొన, పాపపుమొన, దాటడుగుమొన, కదలుమొన, అరమీటుమొన, నెరమీటుమొన, సరితాళంపుమొన, లాదిగాగల పదిరెండు మొనల వారితెలిసిరి.' H. i. 245. మొనలారిపోయినకత్తి a knife with a blunt point. adj. Last, furthest, utmost. కడపటి. మొనకట్టు mona-kaṭṭu. v. n. To attempt with enthusiasm, ఉత్సహించు. n. Joy, rejoicing, enthusiasam, ఉత్సాహము. An amulet or drug used as a charm, పెట్టుమందులలో నొకటి. ఒకానొక స్తంభనమాలిక. 'ఇదిదారికట్టు మొనకట్టిది, కాంతావశ్యకరణమిది.' S. i. 18. 'జలాగ్నిస్థంభములును, మొనకట్టును వాకట్టును.' H. i. 174. adj. Rejoicing, enthusiastic, ఉత్సాహకరమైన. మొనకాడు or మొనగాడు mona-kāḍu. n. A leader of an army, a hero, a principal; a ringleader, శూరుడు, సేనాధిపతి, ముఖ్యుడు. దొంగలమొనగాడు a ringleader among thieves. మొనకొను Same as మొనయు. (q. v.) మొనచేయు mona-chēyu. v. n. To face or front in battle. మోహరించు. మొనచన్ను mona-tsannu. n. A nipple. Lit the tip of the breast. చూచుకము. మొనతప్పు mona-tappu. v. n. To be turned away as the face, to turn away from, విముఖమగు. 'మొనతప్పితిమి రణమున మన మకట మువ్వురము.' భార. సౌ. i. మొనయు monayu. v. n. and v. a. To be, appear, happen, కలుగు. To busy oneself. to engage in. To prepare, be ready, attempt, పూను, పనిపడు. To prepare for battle, రణోద్యోగముచేయు. To cover, to rest upon. ఒగ్గు, కమ్ము, ఆనించు. 'మొండి మాటలాడి మొనసియుండువిరక్తి యమునిగెల్వనెచట నలవిగాదు.' Vēma. 864. 'మొనయు చింతాశ్రేణిమూక విప్పు.' Swa. iv. 148. టీ మొనయు, కమ్ముకొనునట్టి. మొనపు or మొనయించు monapu. v. a. To cause to attempt, పూనజేయు. To cause to happen, కలుగజేయు. To put, place. మోపు, ఉంచు. 'అనినన్ గైటభదైత్య వైరి, దరహాసాంకూరముల్ మోవిపై, మొనపంగొం డొక నిల్చియవ్వనమున్.' Parij. iv. 12. మొనపు. n. An attempt, పూనిక.

(p. 1130) vara vara. [Tel.] n. A limit. మేర. పర్యంతము. ఇదివరలో before this time. అదివరలో before that time. [for ఒర.] Kind, sort. ఈ వరబంగారు gold of this kind. A kind of grain, ధాన్యవిశేషము. వర (for ఒర.) n. A scabbard, a sheath. ఖడ్గకోశము. వరదూయు to unsheath or draw out of the scabbard. పోయినది వర ఉండేది కత్తియనియెంచు what we have lost is the mere sheath but what we have got is the very blade, i.e. he who is dead is nothing to his successor. వరకట్టు vara-katte. v. n. To test gold by rubbing it on a touchstone. Also, to prepare land for cultivation. వరగొడ్డము vara-goḍḍamu. (వర+గొడ్డము.) n. A crooked word, వంకరమాట. వరకు or వరకును vara-ku. postp. Until, as far as, పర్యంతము. ఇదివరకు until this. అదివరకు so far, until that time. ఆవరకే పారిపోయియుండిరి they had already fled. ఎంతవరకు to what extent? how far? ఆయన చనిపోయేవరకు up to the time of his death. నేను వచ్చేవరకు until I come. వర or ఒర vara. n. The large circular ring of pottery sunk in a small well, to prevent the earth from falling in. నూతికి పెట్టేవి.
