(p. 1127) vadaru or వదురు vadaru. [Tel.] v. n. To spread, అడరు, వ్యాపించు. To prattle, chatter, jabber. ప్రేలు. 'నోరునిలువకవదరిన.' Vema. iii. 305. n. Chattering, prattling. ప్రేలుడు The long gourd, సొరకాయ, ఆనపకాయ. వదరుతీగె the creeping plant of the long gourd, Cucurbita lagenaris. ఆనపతిగె, సొరతీగె. 'ఆ వరదుడైనయీశువరము ననిదియొక్క, వదరుపుట్టెనెట్టివరమొయనుచుదాని బారవైనగానున్న.' M. III. iii. 44. వదరుబోతు, వదురుబోతు or వదర vadarụ-bōtu. n. A chatterbox, an empty talker. ప్రేలువాడు.

(p. 1132) vari vari. [from Skt. వృహి.] n. Rice in the husk, usually called paddy. వడ్లు. వరిచేను or వరిమాగాణి a rice field. ఎర్రసన్నవరి a small kind of rice with a red husk. తెల్లసన్నవరి a small kind of rice with a white husk. పడువరి the crop that rises from grains of paddy that have fallen accidentally. వరిగడ్డి vari-gaḍḍi. n. Rice straw. శాలితృణము. వరిగిం౛లు vari-gindzalu. n. Rice in the husk. వరిపొట్ట vari-poṭṭa. n. The unopened ear of rice. కలమగర్భము. వరిబీజము vari-bījamu. n. Swelled testicle, orchitis, hydrocele, or hernia. ఒకపక్కవాచిన వృషణము, బుడ్డ. వరిముల్లు vari-mullu. n. The awn or beard of rice in the husk. ధాన్యశూకము.

(p. 1113) lōceyyi, lōceyi, lōjeyyi or లోజెయి lōcheyyi. [Tel.] n. The palm of the hand. అరచెయ్యి. 'పడనీక లోచేత బెడచేతవ్రేయు.' BD. iv. 196. ఈతనిమంత్రి శత్రువులకు లోచెయ్యిగానున్నాడు his minister is plotting with the enemey.

T. ii. 161. వర్తన vartana. [from వ ర్తనము.] n. A fee. వర్తనుడు vartanuḍu. n. (In composition) One who practises, or behaves, వ్యాపారముగలవాడు. పాపవర్తనుడు an evil doer. సద్వర్తనుడు a well doer, one who acts properly. 'వావెరుంగనియీపాపవర్తనుండు.' Kaluvai. §. 134. ఆజ్ఞావర్తనుండై obediently, in obedience or conformity to the command. వర్తమానము varta-mānamu. n. Situation, condition, circumstance. స్థితి, సంగతి. News, intelligence. సమాచారము, వృత్తాంతము. The present time. The present tense, in Grammar. విద్యమానము, జరుగుచున్న కాలము. 'అనాగతవర్తమానంబులు నుచితానుచితకథాసార స్యంబులుందెలుపుమనిన.' H. i. 51. వర్తమానము adj. Being, existing, living, being present. స్థితమైన, విద్యమానమైన. సర్వత్రవర్తమానమైన omnipresent. Anand. i. 11. వర్తి varti. n. One who is, behaves or acts, వర్తించువాడు. Sandal, perfume. గాత్రానులేపని, పరిమళ ద్రవ్యములు కూర్చిన గంధపుబిళ్ల. The foil placed under a precious stone of the same colour to increase its lustre. మణిరంజకద్రవ్యము. The wick of a lamp, దీపపువత్తి. వర్తించు, వర్తిలు or వర్తిల్లు vartinṭsu. v. n. To be, remain, abide; to act, behave. ఉండు, వసించు, ప్రవర్తించు.' ఎయ్యెదివాసంబెందువర్తింతు.' URK. ii. 262. ఈశబ్దము మూడు లింగములయందును వర్తించును this word is used in all genders, i.e., it is of the common gender. వర్తిష్ణువు vartishṇuvu. adj. Staying, abiding, being stationary, or fixed. ఉండేవాడు, నిలుకడగానుండువాడు, వర్తించువాడు.

(p. 1107) lē lē. [Tel.] The base of the negative forms లేక, లేని, లేదు, &c. లేక lēka. past participle of లేదు. Not being, not being present, without, wanting. అతడు అక్కడ లేకపోవుటవల్ల by his not being there. వానికి రూకలు లేకపోవుటవల్ల by being in want of money. దాన్ని అణిచేవారులేక యిట్లు విడబడి తిరిగినది she played these pranks as there was no one to check her. కూటికిలేక being in want of food. When added to the infinitive, it means Unable. రాలేక unable to come. దానిని చూడలేక unable to look at it, unable to bear the sight of it. లేకుండ or లేకుండా lēk-unḍā. is used in much the same way as లేక; e.g. అతడు లేకుండ నావల్లకాదు I cannot do it without him లేకుండాచేయు lēk-unḍā-chēyu. v. a. To do away, to get rid of, to turn out. నివృత్తిచేయు. వారిని ఆ యింటిలోలేకుండా చేయుము turn them out of the house. అది వాడు ఇవ్వనక్కరలేకుండా చేస్తిని I relieved him from the necessity of giving it. లేకుండు lēk-unḍu. v. n. To be absent, to be wanting. లేడు lēḍu. He is not; he is not present. ఇంటిలోలేడు he is not in the house. చేయలేడు he cannot do it. వీక్షంపగలేడయ్యె. he could not behold it. లేదా lēdā. It it not? or, or else. అది అక్కడ లేదా is it not there? లేదు lēdu. It is not. అది అక్కడ లేదు. it is not there. లేనట్టు lēn-aṭṭu. As if it is not అతడు లేనట్టున్నది it appears he is not there. అతడు లేనట్టు తెలిసి knowing that he was not there. లేని lēni. adj. Devoid of. తెలివిలేనివాడు he who is devoid of sense. వాడు నోరులేనివాడు he is a dumb creature, a mere fool. తప్పులేని faultless. దోవలేని అడవి a pathless forest. వెలలేనిమాణిక్యము a priceless gem. లేనిపోనిపని nonsense, a fool's errand. లేనిపోనిసౌఖ్యములు vain deluding joys. లేనిమాటలు slanders, falsehoods. లేనిపోనిసాకు a false pretence. పోరులేని పోరుపుట్టె నీప్రొద్దు a dispute arose without cause. 'అదియుగాక రాజ్యమును మహాభూతంబు సోకినప్పు డెట్టిసుజనులకును లేనిచీకుదనములేనిమూగతనము, లేని చెవుడు గొంతయైనకలదు.' K. P. v. 248. లేనివారు the absent; the poor. లేమి lēmi. n. Nullity, not being, absence, want, poverty. కలుగమి, ఉండమి, దారిద్య్రము. 'జనకుడు లేమికింగడువిషాదము నొందె.' M. X. ii. 17. ధనములేమి want of wealth. కలిమిలేములు gains and losses, riches and poverty. లేమిడి lēmiḍi. n. Poverty, want. దారిద్య్రము. లేరు lēru. v. 3rd. pers. plu. They are not. M. V. i. 342. వారు లేరు they are not here. not living. లేవు lēvu. v. (neuter.) They are not.
