(p. 111) āṭu āṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To suffice: to last, to be enough దాన్ని పోడిమిగా వాడితే యింకా నెల దినములకు ఆటివచ్చును with caution it may suffice for a month. అది ఆటదు or ఆటి రాదు it is not enough. కట్టెలు ఒక మాటుగా తీసికొంటే ఆటివస్తుంది, చిల్లరచిల్లరగా తీసికొంటే ఆటిరావు if you buy your firewood in the lump it will last; if you buy only a little at a time it will not. ఆటు n. Striking. కొట్టుట. Shooting, or rheumatic pain: పోటు (M. VIII. i. 218:) throbbing. నాకు ఆటుపోటుగానున్నది I am in great pain. ఆ పుంటిలో ఆట్లుపోట్లు ఎత్తినవి the boil throbbed much.

(p. 329) kōladivve or కోలదివియ kōla-divve. [Tel.] n. A torch. వెలుతురు కట్టెలదివిటి.

(p. 430) ceruku or చెరకు. cheruku. [Tel.] n. The sugar cane. ఇక్షువు. Wood కట్టెలు. వంటచెరుకు kitchen fuel. చెరుకుపందెము a feat of skill and strength in sword play or with an axe, which consists in lopping off a stem of sugar cane at a single blow in any proposed manner. చెరుకువిల్తుడు or చెరుకువిలుకాడు an epithet of Manmadha, as his bow is made of sugar cane. చెరుకుపిచ్చిక cheruku-pichchika. n. The yellow-throated sparrow. Gymnorhis flavicollis, (F.B.I.) చెరుకడము or చెరకడము cheru-kaḍamu. n. Jaggery, బెల్లము.

(p. 805) poḍi poḍi. [Tel.] n. Powder, dust. చూర్ణము. Solder, rosin, metallic cement. పొడి or ముక్కుపొడి snuff. పొడిపెట్టిఊదు to solder. చెరుకుకట్టెలపొడి pounded sugar, శర్కర. B. D. iii. 324. చొక్కుపొడి love powder. ఆ పిల్లవానిని చొక్కుపొడివేసి పట్టుకొని పోయినారు they deluded him with love powder and carried him off, ఆ పిల్లవానిని మరుల మురుచల్లి పట్టుకొనిపోయినారు. పొడిమిరియము or మిరియపుపొడి powdered pepper. R. vii. 105. adj. Dry, ఎండిన. Powdered. Small, young. పొడికూర a curry fried without butter in a dry pan. పొడికూర mizzle, drizzling rain. పొడరాళ్లు bricks broken into pieces, brick-dust. పొడిబెల్లము pound ed jaggery. పొడికావ్యము a petty poem. పొడిపిట్ట a kind of bird. 'భిట్టువ, మునుగపూబిట్టువ, గిజిగాడు, ఉల్లెడ, పొడిపిట్ట, వంగపండు.' H. iii. 14. పొడిముత్యాలు seed pearl. పొడిమన్ను dry earth. పొడిచెమట imperceptible perspiration. పొడి బియ్యము dry rice. పొడిపడ్డవాతెరలు lips parched with grief. పొడిదగ్గు a dry cough. పొడి చీకటి poḍi-chīkaṭi. n. Twilight, darkness. పొడిచేయు or పొడికొట్టు poḍi-chēyu. To powder. పసుపుపొడిచేసినది she triturated or pulverized the turmeric. పొడిపొడిగా poḍi-poḍi-gā. adv. In pieces, piece meal, in the form of powder. Very dry.

(p. 941) maccu matstsu. [Tel.] n. A model, standard, sample, pattern, specimen. మాదిరి, నమూనా. An upstair-house. A terraced house, మీదకట్టడము లేని మిద్దెయిల్లు. A shelf. A bait, మృగాదులు వలలో తగులుకొనుటకు ఉంచబడే ఆహారము. Love powder, చ్తొక్కుపొడి. Manner, way. 'మేల్మచ్చులుచేరి' going upstairs. UH. iv. 25. మచ్చులగుది a bunch of samples of gold or silver. మచ్చుచల్లు to sprinkle with love powder, i.e., to bewitch. మరలుమందుచల్లు ఆ బియ్యమంతా ఒకటేమచ్చుగానున్నది all the rice is alike. అరోగము అ దేమచ్చుగానున్నది the disease is in the same state. మచ్చుకత్తి matstsu-katti. n. A bill-hook or large wood knife. కట్టెలునరికేకత్తి. మచ్చుపొడి matstsu-poḍi. n. A love powder, an aphrodisiac. మరులమందు.

(p. 1010) muluca or ముల్చ muluṭsa. [Tel.] adj. Mean, trifling, slight. తక్కువైన, అల్పమైన. 'ఏలనామొగమోట మేమియులేక, ములుచ మాటలనన్ను ముదుకజేసెదవు.' Dab. 39. n. A mean wretch. తల్పుడు, క్షుద్రుడు. 'క చిలుకచదువనుట చదివిన, ములుచల దృష్టాంతమట్టి మూఢపు దుర్జా, తుల జిలుకలదెలిచిన దయ, గలదేమది బెదరవదరుగాక నిజేచ్ఛన్.' KP. vi. 301. ములుచదనము muluṭsa-danamu. n. Slightness, meanness. పలుచదనము. 'కులగోత్రములవారి నిలిపి కట్టెలు నీళ్లు మోయించు చుండెను ములుచదనము.' H. ii. 259.

(p. 1046) mōpu mōpu. [Tel. from మోయు.] v. a. To load, place a burden on (another,) మోయుజేయు. To lay (a fault) upon (a person.) To impute, or charge (against another,) ఆరోపించు. To prop up, ఆనించు. చేతులునేలమోపెను he laid or rested his hands on the ground. 'నారిచేసినతప్పు నామీద మోపి.' Sār. D. 545. 'వాడిసూది మోపినయంతటి భూమి ధర్మనందనునకునీక' as much land as the point of a sharp needle can cover, or rest on. Kanyaka Puran. vii. 116. n. A bundle, load, burden. గడ్డిమొదలైనవాటికట్ట, భారము. A bowstring. వింటినారి. adj. Much, heavy, అధికము. ఉత్తరమున వాన నిండామోపుగానున్నది there is rain impending in the north. దెబ్బలు మోపుగాపడినవి the blows fell thick. మోపుగానుండే గాయము a severe wound. 'నగరోపకంఠంబునను మోపువైచి.' B. P. v. 113 మోవరి or మోపుకాడు mōp-ari. n. A sustainer, a supporter, one who props. మూయువాడు, భావవాహకుడు.మోపాది mōpādi. (మోపు + అది.) n. Danger, risk అపాయము, సంకటము. మోపి mōpi. A widow, విధవ, ముండమోపి. ముండమోసినది she wears a shaven pate. మోపించు mōpinṭsu. v. a. (Causal of మోయు.) To cause to bear a burden. To impose. మోయునట్టుచేయు, నిందపెట్టు. ఆ కట్టెలను వానిచేత మోపించిరి they made him carry the fagots of wood. ఆ తప్పును వానిమీద మోపించిరి they caused the fault to be laid upon him. 'మోపరికగుతగ్గు మొగ్గులభరము, మోపించుకొనునట్టి ముగ్ధునికగునె.' BD. page 129. మోపిక mōpika. n. Weight, భారము. Help, aid. కాండ్లమోపికచేసి by the help of the plough. మోపిడు mōp-iḍu. (మోపు + ఇడు.) v. a. To string a bow, విల్లు ఎక్కిడు. మోపుకొను mōpu-konu. v. a. To take upon one's-self. మోపుదల mōpu-dala. n. A charge or accusation. ఆరోపణము. A load, భారము. ఈనమోపుదలగానుండే ఆవు a cow on the point of calving. ఇవ్వ మోపుదలయైన రూకలు money still due, బాకీ ఉన్న సొమ్ము. చాలా మోపుదలగా చెప్పెను he spoke very impressively. వానిమీద నేరము మోపుదల అయినది he was charged with the offence. మోపుదలచేయు mōpudala-chēyu. v. a. To lay, charge, to bring as a charge, impose, ఆ రూకలను నేను ఇచ్చేటట్టు మోపుదలచేసిరి they made the money payable by me. మోపెట్టు mōp-eṭṭu. (మోపు + పెట్టు.) v. a. To place a weight upon, బరువుపెట్టు. ఆ కాగితనములపైని ఈరాయి మోపెట్టు put this weight on those papers. To brace a bow, విల్లు ఎక్కుపెట్టు. 'అర్జునుడు గాండీవంబు మోపెట్టె.' M. v. i. 261.

(p. 1117) vaṇṭa vanṭa. [Tel. from వండు.] n. Cooking or dressing food, cookery. వండడము, పాకము. పిండివంటలు flour cakes, pastry. adj. Boiled, cooked. వండబడిన, పచనముచేయబడిన. వంటనూనె or వంటచమురు oil used in cookery. వంటాముదము boiled castor oil, (opposed to the cold drawn oil.) వంటగుగ్గిలము boiled dammer. వంటకత్తె or వంటలక్క vanṭa-katte. n. A cook-woman. వంటకము vanṭakamu. n. A Food. వంటచెరుకు, వంటచెరకు, వంటకట్టెలు or వంకసరకు vanṭa-cheruku. n. Fuel, firewood, ఇంధనసమూహము. వంటయిల్లు, వంటసాల or వంటశాల vanṭa-y-illu. n. A kitchen, cookroom. మహానసము. 'సురగకవంటయిల్ చొచ్చినశశము గరుణసేయకగూరగా పండదగునె.' (HD. i. 1199.) Is it fair to cook a rabbit that has taken refuge in a kitchen? వంటయుప్పు salt extracted by boiling sea water. వంటరాయి vanṭa-rāyi. n. An artificial ruby. కరబోకు. వంటరి vanṭa-ari. n. A cook, one who knows how to cook. వంటలు vanṭalu. n. plu. Dried cow dung, which is used as fuel. ఏరుపిడకలు. వంటవాడు, వంటలవాడు or వంటకాడు vanṭa-vāḍu. n. A cook. పాచకుడు.

(p. 1224) vēlimi vēlimi. [Tel.] n. A burnt offering. హోమము. 'వేలిమియున్ సురార్చనయు, విప్రసపర్యయుజిక్కె.' Swa. ii. 57. వేలిమి కట్టెలు firewood used in a burnt sacrifice. వేలిమిబొట్టు a mark made on the forehead with the ashes from a burnt sacrifice, రక్ష. 'నొసలివేలిమిబొట్టు మసిమీద మృగనాభితిలకంబు బటువుగా దీర్చవచ్చు.' R. ii. 109.

(p. 1229) vairavulu , వైరాలు or వయిరాలు vairavulu. [Tel.] n. Charcoal fire, a burning brand or coal, కట్టెలనిప్పు, అంగారము.

(p. 1339) suḍumu suḍumu. [Tel.] n. A flock of a hundred sheep. నూరుగొర్రెలగుంపు. A torch దివిటీ. A fagot of firewood or wisp of grass, used as a torch. దివిటీవలె మండడమునకై కట్టినకసవు లేక కట్టెలకట్ట. బోడసుడుము a lighted wisp of straw.
