A title or name of Brihaspati, tutor of the Gods, who was the husband of Tāra. గురువారము. guru-vāramu. n. Thursday. దొంగలగురువు a master thief, a ringleader. గురువు guruvu. n. Greatness గౌరవము, weight భారము. పూర్వజన్మార్జిత భూరికర్మముల గుర్వణగించునా కొడుక రావయ్య, BD. iv. 218. A long syllable, in prosody. Fast running వేగపు పరుగు. adj. Heavy, weighty, great, large, bulky: difficult, arduous. Reverend, venerable. గురుకార్యము a weighty matter. గురువుగా or గుర్వుగా positively or greatly అధికముగా. 'సర్వమాన్యము నీకు గుర్వుగానిత్తు.' BD. iv. 490. గురువుతేరు guruvu-tēru. v. n. To swell,వులుపారు to run very fast వేగపు పరువుగాపారు. To excel అతిశయించు. గురుత్వము gurutvamu. n. Greatness, weight, importance. Esteem. Heaviness, or languor. గురునాథుడు guru-nādhuḍu. n. The name of a certain village god, whose image is usually a mere block of stone, under a tree.

A lawsuit వ్యాజ్యెము. 'క తనుమాలు ధర్మమేలా తనగురు తెరుగంగలేనితనువదియేలా తనబుద్ధిగానిదేలా తనతనకేగాకయున్న తగవియేలా. Enjoyable. అనుభయోగ్యము. మీ ప్రాణములు దక్కవు your lives will not be saved. ఈ రూకలు దక్కనిచ్చేదారిలేదు I have no chance of keeping the money. దక్కొను dak-konu. (దక్కు+కొను.) v. n. To be independent. స్వంతంత్రుడగు. To happen, కలుగు. విక్ర. ii. దక్కించు dakkinṭsu. v. a. To rescue, preserve, defend, save, get, redeem. దక్కించుకొను. (p. 712) paragaḍa or పరగడము paragaḍa. [Tel.] n. Another place, ఇతరస్థలము. A side, పార్శ్వము. A field outside of a village. ఊరిబైటిపొలము, బీడు, నెత్తము. పరగడ paragaḍa. adv. (affix.) Off, from, aside. బహిరర్థము, అవతల. ఊరిపరగడ outside the village. పరగడబెట్టి. అనగా బైటపెట్టి 'వెరవకుమంచుదేర్చి యదువీరుడునల్గడ జూడ గట్టుదా, పరగడనిల్చి.' N. ix. 138. టీ కొంచెము అవతలగానిలిచి. plu. పరగళ్లు. A. iv. 54. పరగడగా paragaḍa-gā. adv. Indirectly, apart మేము పరగడగా విన్న సమాచారము the news we received indirectly. వారు పరగడగా నిలిచిరి they stood apart.

(p. 730) pasariñcu pasarinṭsu. [Tel. corrupted from Skt. ప్రసరించు.] v. n. To spread, to extend. వ్యాపించు. 'బసవయీకిన్నర బ్రహ్మయ్యభువుని, పసరింపగానిట్టి భక్తుండుగలడె.' BD. v. 452.

(p. 756) piriki piriki. [Tel.] adj. Cowardly. పిరికివాడు a coward. n. A coward, భయశీలుడు. plu. పిరుకులు. 'పిరుకులుగానిభానుజవిభీషణులుండగ నీకునర్హమే.' Jaimini. vi. 77. పిరికితనము piriki-tanamu. n. Cowardice, timidity, shyness, bashfulness. సభాపిరికితనము nervousness that disables a man when in public. పిరికికండ piriki-kanḍu. n. Want of courage, అధైర్యము. పిరికిమెకము piriki-mekamu. n. A gazelle or antelope, హరిణము, జింక.

(p. 778) pūcu pūṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To flower, bloom, blossom, bud, shoot out, open or expand, పుష్పించు. To have a bad mark, as a horse. To become sapless or weak, నిస్సారమగు. నాలుకపూచినది the tongue furred. కన్నులు పూచినవి the eyes became discoloured by disease. పూచిన బట్టలు spotty clothes, which shew odd marks although washed, అకస్మికముగా తెల్లబట్టలలో బడే నల్లచుక్కలు. A. v. 127. 'పూచిన మావులు' horses that have unlucky marks, కొరగానిమచ్చలుగల గుర్రములు.

(p. 816) pōcikōlu pōchi-kōlu. [Tel.] n. Worthlessness, uselessness. పోచికోలుగానిచ్చు to give away as useless. మనిషిపోచికోలుకాడు (a proverb) there is no man of whom you can say he is of no consequence to you.

(p. 818) pōṭu pōṭu. [Tel.] n. A thrust, a stab, a blow. పొడుపు. కత్తిపోటు. A throb of pain. పోదుపు, నొప్పి. The swell of a river, or of the sea, the flow of the tides, high water, సముద్రోల్పణము, నద్యాదులజలవృద్ధి. Heroism, courage, శౌర్యము. A battle, యుద్ధము. వాడు ఇప్పుడు కొంచెము పోటుమీద నున్నాడు he is now drunk. 'నా కొడుకు పోటుమాటలు, నీకేటికి పొసగవాడ.' M. IV. v. 258. పోటుమాటలు అనగా ఎత్తిపొడుపుమాటలు. చెవిపోటు chevi-pōṭu. n. Ear-ache. ఆ కురుపు పోట్లు పొడుస్తున్నది the boil is throbbing. పోటాపోటీ pōṭā-pōṭī. n. Rivalry, emulation, competition, నీకంటే నాకనిపయిబడడము. వానికి నిన్న దర్భపోటుతగిలినది he was invited to the ceremony held on the anniversary of a man's father's death. పోటుపాటు ఎరిగినవాడు one who knows both sides of the question పోటాడు or పోటొగ్గు to get ready for battle. రణోద్యోగము చేయు. పోటుకంబము pōṭu-kambamu. n. A post or pillar which is set up as a prop, ఊతగానిలిపినస్తంభము. పోటుకలుపు pōṭu-kalupu. n. A second weeding, రెండవమారు తీయు కలుపు. పోటుకాడు, పోటుబంటు, పోటుమగడు or పోటుమానిసి pōṭu-kāḍu. n. A hero, a courageous man, శూరుడు. పోటుకోల pōṭu-kōla. n. A sharp pointed stick used as a prop. 'వలలును దెరలు ప్రోగులు చుట్టగాలేదు, పోటుకోలొకటియు బుచ్చలేదు, తెగిన మెకంబుల తేలేదు.' Dhurjati. iii. 96. పోటుగంప pōṭu-gampa. n. A large basket. పోటుపాటు pōṭu-pāṭu. n. The ebb and flow of a tide. Paidim. i. 86. 'నీపోటుపాటున నిపుడిట్లు మమ్ము బోరించితివి.' HD. ii. 1196. నీపోటుపాటున, నీవెచ్చి తగ్గుటచేతను. పోటెక్కించినవాడు pōt-ekkinchina-vāḍu. n. An assailant, one who attacks. ఎదిరించి పైకి వచ్చేవాడు.' పోటెక్కించినవారిమీద ప్రయోగించినవాని సమరపతి వధియించుననియును బెద్దలవలన వినియుందుము.' M. VII. iii. 96. పోటొడ్డు pōt-oḍḍu. v. n.
