To be caught; got, found, joined, entangled, understood. To be received (as a blow), incurred (as expense or punishment.) n. See under తగులము. ఆ యింటికి నిప్పుతగిలినది the house caught fire. ఇక్కడ గాలి తగులుచున్నది the wind strikes here, here we get the breeze. పెండ్లితగిలినది there was a marriage. ప్రయాణము తగిలినది he had occasion to make a journey. అక్కడ మంచినీళ్లు తగిలినవి there we found fresh water. వానికి దెబ్బతగిలినది he received a blow. కుండ కాలికి తగిలినది the pot touched my foot. ఓడ మెరకు తగిలినది the ship ran aground. వానికి రోగముతగలకుండ to prevent his catching the disease. అతనితిట్లు నాకు తగలలేదు his abuse did not affect me. ఇది వానిమనసునకు తగిలినది this was impressed upon his mind. వెంటతగులు to pursue. తగులుకొని వచ్చిరి they attacked, they followed. అడ్డముతగులు to oppose, to come in the way. పదిరూకలు తగిలినవి it cost ten cash. తగులుకొను tagulu-konu. v. n. To be involved or entangled with. చిక్కుకొను. To fall in love with. వలచు. To catch fire. అది వాణ్ని తగులుకొనిపోయినది she has gone off with him. ఆ యిల్లు తగులుకొన్నది the house caught fire. తగలబడు or తగులబడు tagala-baḍu. v. n. To burn or be set on fire. ఇల్లు తగలబడ్డది the house was burnt. తగలబెట్టు or తగులబెట్టు tagala-beṭṭu. v. a. To set fire to, to kindle, to burn అడివిని తగలబెట్టిరి they burned the forest. తగులుబడి tagulu-baḍi. n. Expense, charge, cost, outlay. పట్టుబడి. తగులుబాటు tagulu-bāṭu. n. Charge, cost, expense. తగులవడు to be caught. చిక్కు, పట్టుపడు.

Underneath, the nether portion, క్రిందు. Steadiness, నిలుకడ. పాదుకట్టు pādukaṭṭu. v. n. To divide into beds. పాదుకొను or పాదునిలుచు pādu-konu. v. n. To be grounded, established firm. To take root or gather strength have a footing. నాటుకొను, నెలకొను, తగులుకొను, నిలుచు. పాదుకొన్న being well grounded. పాదుకొలుపు pādu-kolupu. v. a. To fix, to ground, to establish. నాటునట్లుచేయు, స్థిరపరుచు. 'భక్తియుక్తిప్రసన్నత పంకజాక్షు, పాదపద్మంబులందునే పాదుకొలిపె.' Vish. i. 3.

(p. 941) maccu matstsu. [Tel.] n. A model, standard, sample, pattern, specimen. మాదిరి, నమూనా. An upstair-house. A terraced house, మీదకట్టడము లేని మిద్దెయిల్లు. A shelf. A bait, మృగాదులు వలలో తగులుకొనుటకు ఉంచబడే ఆహారము. Love powder, చ్తొక్కుపొడి. Manner, way. 'మేల్మచ్చులుచేరి' going upstairs. UH. iv. 25. మచ్చులగుది a bunch of samples of gold or silver. మచ్చుచల్లు to sprinkle with love powder, i.e., to bewitch. మరలుమందుచల్లు ఆ బియ్యమంతా ఒకటేమచ్చుగానున్నది all the rice is alike. అరోగము అ దేమచ్చుగానున్నది the disease is in the same state. మచ్చుకత్తి matstsu-katti. n. A bill-hook or large wood knife. కట్టెలునరికేకత్తి. మచ్చుపొడి matstsu-poḍi. n. A love powder, an aphrodisiac. మరులమందు.

(p. 970) māṭu māṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To get entangled, తగులుకొను. 'తొడరి యడిగిననిల్లాండ్రతోడమాటు.' T, iv. 31. v. a. To conceal or hide. దాచు, మరుగుచేయు.n. Concealment, మరుగు. A remedy, విరుగుడు. An ambush, screen, covering. గురికాడుదాగే గొయ్యి. మరుగు. A menstruum in which a metal is dissolved. Time, period, occasion. తేప. Connection, తగులము. An instalment of payment. A patch of metal put on to mend a vessel, తపెలలకువేసే అతుకు. పొదల మాటున behind the bushes. మాటుకట్టు, మాటుపెట్టు or మాటుఒగ్గు māṭu-kaṭṭu. v. a. To set a trap. మాటికి māṭiki. adv. Often, every now and then, అడుగడుగునకు. మాటిమాటికి māṭī-māṭi-ki. n. Time after time, again and again, frequently. మాటుగొయ్యి māṭu-goyyi. n. A hidden pitfall. మాటుపడు māṭu-paḍu. v. n. To disappear, vanish, అగుపడక పోవు, మరుగుపడు. Also, to get entangled, to get caught, తగులుపడు. మాటుమణుగు or మాటుమడుగు māṭu-maṇugu. v. n. To be hushed, still or silent. ౛ం౛ాటము ఉడిగి నిశ్శబ్దమగు. ఊరంతా మాటుమణిగి ఉండినది the whole town was in dead silence. మాటుమణిగిన తర్వాత in the dead of the night.

(p. 1096) lagnamu lagnamu. [Skt.] n. The rising of a Sign or Constellation. That portion of the equator, which rises in succession with each Sign in an oblique sphere. A period astrologically selected for any auspicious ceremony, such as a marriage, &c. రాశియొక్క ఉదయము. adj. Attached to, adhering to, in contact with, joined to, connected with, intent on, తగులుకొన్న. లగ్నకుడు lagnakuḍu. n. A security, or surety. పుటకాపు. పూటపడినవాడు. ప్రతిభువు. లగ్నపత్రిక lagna-patrika. n. A wedding notice.

To adhere to, come in contact with, take to, be attached or addicted to, succeed, attain, approach. అంటుకొను, సక్తమగు, పొందు, కలుగు, డాయు, అంటు, తగులుకొను, సఫలమగు.
