(p. 529) timmaḍu or తిమ్మన్న timmadu. [Tel. from తిరుమల+డు.] A name of a monkey, like Jacko or Pug: the feminine is తిమ్మ. తిమ్మనబంతి timmana-banti. n. A monkey's dinner party, a riotous scene. పొట్టితిమ్మడి జొన్న the inferior bastard grain that grows rapidly.

(p. 529) timmappaḍu timm-appaḍu. [Tel. తిరుమల+అప్పడు.] n. A name of the god Venkatēsvara.

(p. 530) tiru tiru. [A Tamil word for Skt. శ్రీ.] adj. Blessed or holy. (This is used in a variety of ways by Vaishṇavites.) తిరుకాపు tiru-kāpu. n. Adorning the god. దేవతనలంకరించుట. తిరుకొలను a sacred tank, పుష్కరిణి. తిరుచూర్ణము the sacred powder used to mark the forehead by the Vaishṇavites, శ్రీచూర్ణము, తిరునామము, వైష్ణవబొట్టు. తిరుమణి [మణి = మన్ను] the sacred earth, a kind of white clay used in making the sectarian mark (నామము). తిరుపగూడ a small basket in which the తిరుమణి and other things are kept. తిరుపతి tiru-pati. n. A town, Tripati తిరుమల. తిరుమజ్జినము tiru-majjanamu. n. The sacred bath given to an idol. దేవతాభిషేకము. తిరుమన్ను same as తిరుమణి. తిరుమాళిగ tiru-māḷiga. n. A Vaishṇavite's word for a house (వైష్ణవపరిభాష యందు) గృహము.

(p. 531) tirumala tiru-mala. [Tel. తిరు+మల.) n. The sacred hill of Tirupati వెంకటాచలము. Any sacred hill. తిరుమలేశ tirumal-ēṣa. n. The Lord of Tirumala, a name employed in the chorus used by a poet who wrote a set of riddles: like this one; 'మూడుశిరములున్ను ముదమొప్పపదికాళ్లు గల్గు; తోకలురెండు కన్నులారు చెలగి కొమ్ములు నాల్గు చేతులు రెండయా, దీనిభావమేమి తిరుమలేశ.' The meaning of this is:--'a man ploughing with a pair of oxen.' See తిరు.

(p. 531) tirumuḍi tiru-muḍi. [Tel.] n. A Vaishṇavite. వైష్ణవుడు. See తిరు.

(p. 686) paṅga panga. [Tel.] n. A fork, as the forked branch of a tree. పంగగా panga-gā. (adv.) Astride, with the legs apart. పంగటి pangaṭi. adj. Stretching out like the prongs of a fork. 'అనుకు వెల్లడిగందమున నాభి నుండి మూపులదాక పంగటి పూతపూతి.' Vaija. iv. 57. పంగటించు panga-tinṭsu. v. n. To straddle or open the legs far apart; to sprawl. పంగటికాళ్లవాడు pangaṭi-kālla-vāḍu. n. A bandy-legged man. దొడ్డికాళ్లు గలవాడు. పంగనామము a fork-like mark worn on the forehead by the Vaishnavaites, పడుమ ఎడము గల్పు పంగివలె తీర్చిన తిరుమణి, as distinguished from పంగనామము, a mark which has no broad fork like branches. పంగలుగుంజ a forked post such as rafters rest on. పంగలకర్ర a forked stick. మూడుపంగలయీటె a trident shaped spear.

(p. 716) parika parika. [Tel.] n. A kind of bird. పక్షి విశేషము. See పరిగె పిట్ట. A kind of stone, ఒకవిధమైన రాయి. Also, a pattern or diagram drawn on the floor with lines of flour or coloured powder. ముగ్గులు. పరికలువేయు, అనగా ముగ్గులుపెట్టు. 'చ తిరుమల కంచి పుష్ఫగిరి తీర్థములం ౛ని కొంగుములఠ్లతో, నరములు దంపతుల్ వడయ వారక కాన్కలు వైచి యంతటన్, బరికలు దృష్టిదీపములలు పన్నిన గద్దెలు బెట్టి యేమిటన్, గరమగు పుత్రవాంచ కడ గానగలేక విచారభిన్నులై.' (p. 980) māḷiga māḷiga. [Tel.] n. A house, abode. dwelling. ఇల్లు. నేలమాళిగ a subterranean chamber. తిరుమాళిగ a phrase among Vaishnavas for a house: lit. a blessed tabernacle.

(p. 1035) mogaḍa mogaḍa. [Tel.] n. A bud. A boss or knob on a shield or door. మొగ్గ, గుబక. 'విత్తులేనియట్టి వృక్షమొక్కటి పుట్టె ఫలముపువ్వు మొగడపత్రిలేదు, స్వాదులేదు చూడ సాపాటునకు లెస్స, దీనిభావమేమి తిరుమలేశ.' Tirumalēsa. 'పూమొగడతోతులదూగులతాంగిముక్కు.' R. iv. 60.
