(p. 1015) mūta mūta. [Tel from మూయు.] n. Shutting, closing, covering, మూయుట. A cover, lid, top. A valve, any little door as that of a lantern. The cover or parchment of a drum. మూయునది. మూతపడు or మూతలుపడు mūta-paḍu. v. n. To be closed, మూసికొనిపోవు. అతని చెవులు మూతలుపడినవి his ears were stunned, his ears tingled. మూతపొడువు mūta-poḍuvu. n. A kind of game. ఒక ఆట. 'దాయాలుసొగటాలు దాట్రాయి చదరంగమును పోటురాళ్లును, మూతపొడువు, వామనగుంటలు.' H. iii.191. మూతబల్ల mūta-balla. n. A sheathing plank that closes up the ends of the rafters of a pent roof. ఇంటి ముంజూరును మూయుబల్ల, వాచూరుపట్టె.

(p. 998) mucce muchche. [Tel.] n. A shoe. పై౛ారు. ముచ్చెలు shoes, పై౛ారులు. adj. Appertaining to the Moochee caste, who are generally painters, bookbinders, paper cutters, makers of saddles, toys, trunks, &c. చర్మకారసంబంధమైన. ముచ్చెకర్ర muchchekarra. n. A spongy wood, Erythrina indica. బాడిదెచెక్క. Rox. iii. 249. It is so called because much used by Moochees or cabinet-makers. ముచ్చెపని muchche-pani. n. Lacquer work. ముచ్చెపెట్టె muchche-peṭṭe. n. A lacquered box. ముచ్చెబంగారము or ముచ్చిబంగారము muchche-bangāramu. n. Tinsel. కాకి బంగారు, ఇత్తడిలోభేదము. ముచ్చెవాడు muchche-vāḍu. n. A man of the ముచ్చె caste, చర్మకారుడు.

(p. 938) makaramu makaramu. [Skt.] n. An alligator. మొసలి. The sign of the Zodiac called Capricorn, రాశిభేదము. మకరసంక్రమణము or మకరసంక్రాంతి the passing of the sun into Capricon. This is observed as the Pongul feast. పొంగలిపండుగ. మకరకంఠి makara-kanṭhi. n. A necklace shaped like an alligator. మొసలిమూతులుగల కంఠాభరణము. మకరకుండలము makara-kunḍalamu. n. An earring bearing the figure of a crocodile's head. మొసలిముఖము గల కర్ణభూషణము. మకరతోరణము makara-tōranamu. n. A festoon of cloth shaped like a crocodile, మొసలి మొదలైన రూపములను చిత్రవిచిత్రముగా కుట్టి వీధులలో కట్టే తోరణము. మకరాంకుడు, మకరకేతనుడు or మకరధ్వజుడు makarān-kuḍu. n. An epithet of Manmadha, whose banner is an alligator. మన్మథుడు. మకరాలయము ma-kar-ālayamu. n. The sea. సముద్రము. మకరి makari. n. A crocodile, or alligator. మొసలి. మకరిక or మకరికాపత్రము maka-rika. n. Figures of crocodiles drawn in gold dust on the cheeks or breasts of women, చెక్కిళ్లమీదను రొమ్ములమీదను వ్రాసే మొసలిఆకారము. 'మకరీమయరేఖ లురస్థలంబునన్ భావజచిహ్న ముద్రలయిభాసిల.' Vij. Vil. xi. 97. మకరివల makari-vala. n. A snare to catch crocodiles.

(p. 989) mīḍu mīdu. [Tel.] n. The upper surface; top, head. ఉపరిభాగము, ఊర్ధ్వము. Futurity. భవిష్యత్కాలము. What is vowed, or set aside for sacrifice, దేవతకు నియమించిన ముడుపు. That which is next, the next thing, పరము. మీదుకట్టు mīdu-kaṭṭu. v. a. To devote, sanctify, set aside in the name of God. మీద or మీదను mīda. postposition.
