(p. 421) cilla chilla [Tel.] n. The barb of an arrow or fishhook. A bone. శల్యము. A bit, a fragment. M. 12. 2. 430. adj. Empty, trifling, useless. చిల్లపెంకు a potsherd. 'చిల్లతైలము' = ఇందుగవగరు. A. iv. 36. చిల్లచెవులు ears that are empty, that is, unadorned with earrings. చిల్లకోల or చిళ్లకోల chilla-kōla. n. A whip with several lashes. తోమరము. A pitchfork. చిల్లచండ్లావు a cow, the ends of whose teats are forked. చిల్ల జగడము a vain dispute, a quarrel about nothing.

(p. 555) tailamu tailamu. [Skt. from తిల.] n. Oil, ointment, unguent, salve, essence. మంటి తైలము earth-oil; bitumen. తైలీనము tailīnamu. adj. Oily; belonging to oil, producing oilseeds (as land), తిలలుపండునది (పొలము). తైలికుడు tailikuḍu. n. An oilmonger గాండ్లవాడు.

(p. 616) drāvakamu drāvakamu. [Skt. from ద్రవము.] n. Spirit. An extract, essence. గంధకద్రావకము Sulphuric acid, vitriol. పెట్లుప్పుద్రావకము Nitric acid. లవణద్రావకము Muriatic acid. కర్పూరద్రావకము or కర్పూరతైలము turpentine.

(p. 673) nūne or నూనియ nūṇe. [Tel. నూవు+నెయ్యి.] n. Oil. మంచినూనె sesamum oil, or gingelly oil, తైలము. నెమలినూనె the melted fat of peacocks used in medicine. నూనె కట్లపాము nūne-kaṭla-pāmu. n. A small venomous snake 'barred with black.' నూనెబుడ్డి nūne-buḍḍi. n. An oil bottle. నూనె బుడ్డిగాడు nūne-buḍḍi-gāḍu. n. The Indian Redstart, Ruticilla rufiventris (F.B.I.) నూనెమడి nūne-muḍi. n. A joint. కీలుగంటు. నూనెఅగిసె the black linseed plant.

(p. 676) nemuru nemuru. [Tel.] v. a. To rub. తైలము వేసి కాళ్లు నెమిరితే నొప్పులు తీయును anointing the legs with oil and rubbing them relieves pain.

(p. 943) maṭṭi maṭṭi. [Tel.] n. Earth, soil, mud Scurf or dandruff. మట్టితిన్నపామువలె పడియున్నాడు he is as stupid as a snake gorged with mud. మట్టిగుర్రమున నమ్మి యేటిలోదిగుట to rely on a mud horse and go into a river, i.e., to trust to appearances. మట్టితైలము or మట్టినూనె maṭṭi-tadama. n. Earth oil kerosene or petroleum. మట్టాడు maṭṭ-āḍu. (మట్టి + ఆడు.) v. n. & a. To walk. నడచు. To wander, roam, సంచరించు. To spread, వ్యాపించు. To cut to pieces, తనుమాడు.' అత్తూపుగములు తుత్తమురుదొట్టి మట్టాడి అట్టహాసంబుచేసి.' R. v. 191. మట్టియ Same as మట్టి and మట్టె (q. v.) మట్టు maṭṭu. v. a. To tread or trample, to crush. తొక్కు. n. Trampling, walking over. త్రొక్కుడు. Limit, bounds, measure, restriction, extent; moderation. పర్యంతము. ప్రమాణము. మితి, కొలత, తగ్గుదల. A settle or ring of cord, fibre, &c. to prevent a pot from rolling over, కుదురు. A place, ప్రదేశము. పైమట్టు the upper place or part. అడుగుమట్టు the bottom. ఆ బల్లమట్టుపట్టి తీసుకొనిరా measure the plank కావడిమట్టు the frame or bottom of the slings in a Kāvadi. వానికి తెలివిమట్టు he is wanting in sense. వానితో చెప్పినది నాబుద్ధే మట్టు I was a fool to tell him this. ఈ సంవత్సరము జనముమట్టు this year the assembly is but small. వానికి పుణ్యగతులుమట్టు he has no chance of heaven. మట్టుబీర a kind of బీరకాయ (q. v.) మట్టుగిన్నె a cup with a foot or base attached to it. adj. Limited, small. మితము, తక్కువ. మట్టుకు as far as, up to as much as, in regard to, until, as long as. దీనికి ఒకమట్టుమితములేదు there is no end or limit to it. మట్టుమర్యాదలేనివాడు he who has neither modesty nor moderation. మట్టుమీరవద్దు you must not go beyond bounds. అతడు వచ్చువరకు అని దీనికి ఒకమట్టుపెట్టిరి they laid it aside until his arrival, మనసుచెదరనీక మట్టుపెట్టి.' (Vēma. ii. 278.) curbing and restraining the mind. ఈ మట్టున లేచిపోయిరి with this they went away or thereupon they went away. పోడుగుపడి అంతమట్టున వాన నిలిచినది there was a thunderbolt and then the rain ceased. వానికి అంతమట్టుకు తెలియదు he does not know so much. ఎంతమట్టుకు పోయినావు how far did you go? గొంతుమట్టుకు నీళ్లువస్తున్నవి the water is up to the neck. వాడు ఎంతమట్టుకుంటే అంతమట్టుకు సంతోషిస్తాడు he contents himself with as much as he gets. నా ప్రాణములు ఉన్న మట్టుకు as long as I have life. నామట్టుకు నేను ఉంటాను నీమట్టుకు నీవు ఉండు I shall keep to myself, you keep to yourself. బియ్యము కావలసిన మట్టుకు చిక్కును you can get as much rice as you want. సొమ్ములుమట్టుకు నాకు వద్దు as for the jewels I do not want them. అంతమట్టుకు మంచిపని చేస్తిని so far you did well. ఇంతమట్టుకు వచ్చిన తరువాత ఇకనేమి దాక్షిణ్యము when the matter has come to such a push what is the use of delicacy? వానికి తిండిమట్టుకు బాగా కావలెను he cares for nothing but his dinner. నేనుమట్టుకు పోతిని I alone went. వాని ఒళ్లు శానామట్టుకు నాసిగానున్నది his health is in a great measure recovered. మట్టుఅగు. మట్టుకొను or మట్టుపడు maṭṭu-agu. v. n. To lessen or be diminished. తగ్గు, అడగు. కుదురుపడు. రోగము మట్టుపడినది the disease is moderating. వానికి దాహము మట్టుపడినది his thirst was slackened. మట్టుగా maṭṭu-gā. adv. Moderately, మితముగా. వర్షము మట్టుగానున్నప్పుడు when the rain is moderate. దగ్గు మట్టుగానున్నది the cough is now moderate. మట్టుగా తిన్నాడు he ate moderately. మట్టు చేయు or మట్టుపరచు maṭṭu-chēyu. v. a. To lessen, moderate, diminish. తగ్గించు. వానికి జీతము మట్టుచేసినారు they diminished his pay, వానికి జీతము మట్టుచేసినారు they diminished his pay, వానికి జీతము తగ్గించినారు. మట్టుపెట్టు maṭṭu-peṭṭu. v. a. To keep down, suppress, అడచు. To kill, చంపు. మట్టుమిగులు or మట్టుమీరు maṭṭu-migulu. v. n. To exceed the limits, అతిక్రమించు.

'అ రవిరులతేనియలచాలు అతనివాలు.' H. ii. 16. ఇరువాలుదున్నుట అనగా అడ్డము దిడ్డముగా రెండుసారులు దున్నుట. వాలు vālu. adj. Long, sloping, slanting, descending, drooping. దీర్ఘమైన, అదోకపాటుగానుండే. వాలుచూపులు drooping glances. Sharp, వాడిగల. Cruel, క్రూరము. వాలమ్ము or వాలుటమ్ము a sharp arrow. వాటకొంగ valu-konga. n. A stork, వక్కుకొంగ, బకము. వాలుగ or వాలుగా vālu-ga. adv. Slantingly, lengthily, అదోకపాటుగా, నిడుపుగా. వాలుగంటి or వాల్గంటి vālu-ganṭi. n. A bright eyed woman; lit: a long-eyed girl. దీర్ఘములైనకన్నులుగల స్త్రీ, ఆయతాక్షి, విశాలాక్షి. వాలుగడుపు or వాల్గడుపు vālu-gaḍupu. n. A projecting or protuberant belly, బొ౛్జ. వాలుగొమ్ము a canal or sluice. వాలుచు or వాల్చు vāluṭsu. v. a. To bend, incline, slant. కిందికివంచు. To cut off, కోసివేయు. రెప్పవాలుచు to droop the eye-lids, i.e., to close the eyes. రాత్రిఅంతా కన్నులు వాల్చలేదు I did not close my eyes all night. ఆ మంచమును వాల్చినాడు he slanted the couch. 'వాలినకిన్కమైవాలు నీవాడి; వాలువజిహ్వలువాలుతుననిన, జందనగంధులు జలమురెట్టింప.' HD. i. 947. టీ వాలిన, వచ్చిన, కిన్కమై, కోపమువల్ల; వాలు, దీర్ఘమైన; ఈ వాడివాలున, ఈ తీక్ష్ణ ఖడ్గముచేతను; జిగ్వలు, నాలుకలను; ఈ తీక్ష్ణ ఖడ్గముచేతను; జిహ్వలు, నాలుకలను; వాలుతుననిన, కోసివేతుననేటప్పటికి. వాలుచుక్క or వాల్చుక్క vālu-ṭsukka. n. The planet Venus or its regent. శుక్రుడు. 'పొలుపొంద తూర్పున బొడిచెవాల్చుక్క.' Sar. D. 558. వాలుచేప vālu-chēpa. n. A kind of fish called Chirocentius nudius. మత్స్యవిశేషము. వాలుడు vāluḍu. adj. Hanging down. వాలుడుకొమ్మలు branches that hang down. n. A kind of tree. ఎర్రవాలుడు the red kind. వాలుడుచెక్క the bark of this tree used in medicine. వాలుడుతైలము the oil extracted from this bark. 'కోరివాలుడుతైలంబు గ్రోలువారు.' P. i. 725. వాలుపు or వాల్పు valupu. n. Bending down, వాల్చుట. వాలుప్రొద్దు vālu-pṛoddu. n. The morning or evening sun, లేతప్రొద్దు, అపరాహ్ణము, వాలుమగడు vālamagaḍu. n. The hero of the sword, i.e., A brave man. శురుడు. 'క తాలిమియుధృతియుప్రజ్ఞా. శీలతయు పరాత్మగుణవిశేషజ్ఞతయున్, కాలోచితకార్యముగల, వాలుమగండేలు జలధవలయితధరణిన్,' P. iii. 32.

(p. 1312) salasala sala-sala. [Tel. (anuk. of boiling.)] adv. Loudly, aloud, audibly. కళపెళ. 'సలసలగ్రాగెడు తైలము.' G. vi. 128.

(p. 1317) sāṅkavamu sān-kavamu. [Skt. from సంకువు.] n. Musk. ౛వ్వాది, సంకుమదము. A. ii. 26. తళుకుచెక్కులసాంకవతైలముంచి.' Ila. ii. 8.

(p. 1318) sāmbrāṇi sāmbrāṇi. [from Skt. సంబరేను.] n. The fragrant gum called benzoin, సంబరేను చెట్టువలన గలిగిన ధూపద్రవ్యము. సాంబ్రాణి తైలము an oil extracted from this. సాంబ్రాణివత్తి a perfumed taper or pastille, a candle made of benzoin which produces the fragrance of frankincense. ఊదువత్తి. పరంగిసాంబ్రాణిచెట్టు the Indian Olibanum tree, Boswellia serrata, గుగ్గిలపుచెట్టు. (Watts.) సాంబ్రాణి ఆకు a certain herb.

(p. 1369) snēhamu snēhamu. [Skt.] n. Love, affection, fondness, friendship. ప్రేమ, చెలిమి. Oil, ungent, తైలము, చమురు. ప్రాణస్నేహము intimate friendship. స్నేహించు or స్నేహముచేయు snēhinṭsu. v. a. To cultivate or court another's friendship. విహితముచేయు. స్నేహితుడు ṣnē-hituḍu. n. A friend. స్నేహితుడు snēhitu-r-ālu. n. A friend. నేస్తకాడు. స్నేహితురాలు. n. A female friend, నేస్తురాలు. స్నేహోత్పాదకగ్రంధులు sebacious glands.
