(p. 634) naramu naramu. [Tel.] n. A vem or artery, a nerve. నాడి. A tendon, or muscle of the body. వానిచేతికి నరాలు లేవు he has no nerves in his hand, i.e., he is a very open handed man.

(p. 653) nippu or నిప్పుక nippu. [Tel. cf. Tam. నిరుపు.] n. Fire. A spark of fire, a live coal. అంగారము, అగ్ని. అగ్నికణము. 'పొరిమొగంబు నరాలు నిప్పుకలనంగ గుంపులైరాలె మహినింద్రగోపతతులు.' A. iv. 135. నిప్పు వన్నెగుత్తులకానుగు or అంగారవల్లరి a species of కానుగుచెట్టు, commonly called the Flame of the Forest.

(p. 694) pacca paṭsṭsa. [Tel.] n. Lit: Leaf colour. Green, yellowish green, yellow colour, (a leaf being first green, then fading into yellow.) An emerald, మరకతము. Any figure punctured or tattooed into the skin, because it is coloured green. A green plant or tree. cf. 'పైరుపచ్చ' adj. Green, yellow, sallow. (The word పచ్చ radically means Bright, fair-coloured.) పచ్చ పొడుచుకొను to tattoo the skin. ఆకుపచ్చ or హరిదళపచ్చ yellow. కలంకారిపచ్చలు a sort of cloth, or painted chintz. See on పచ్చి. Various shades of green are called కప్పుపచ్చ a still lighter tint, రాతిపచ్చ emerald green, చిలకపచ్చ bright green, మక్కిపచ్చి dirty dark green. వాని కండ్లు పచ్చపారినవి he has the jaundice. వారు ఇప్పుడు పచ్చగానున్నారు they are now in prosperous circumstances. కాపు పచ్చగా నుంటే రాజు చూడలేడు the king cannot bear to see a thriving farmer. పచ్చనరాలు the blue veins. పచ్చగువ్వ a bright yellow green bird; the green pigeon. పచ్చపైకము a good coin. HD. ii. 153. పచ్చకట్లపాము a green snake. పచ్చకన్నులమెకము paṭsṭsakannula-mekamu. n. Lit: The yellow eyed beast, i.e., a lion, హర్యక్షము. పచ్చకర్పూరము paṭsṭsa-karpūramu. n,. Green coloured camphor: crude camphor. This is the name of a brilliant white drug, used to curve the eye, which real camphor injures. It is not in lumps but is a powder. పచ్చకామెరలు paṭsṭsa-kāmerulu. n. Jaundice. పచ్చజిట్ట paṭsṭsa-jiṭṭa. n. The common Iora (a small green and yellow bird.) Ӕgithina tiphia. (F.B.I.) పచ్చజీనువాయి paṭsṭsajīnu-vāyi. n. The Red-headed Bunting, Emberiza luteola. (F.B.I.) పచ్చన or పచ్చదనము. paṭsṭsana. n. Greenness or yellowness. పచ్చని paṭsṭsani. adj. Green, yellow. పచ్చబంగారు yellow or pure gold. పచ్చగానున్న yellow or golden: prosperous, fortunate. పచ్చబ్రాలు paṭsṭsa-brālu. n. Yellow rice, i.e., rice coated with saffron and used to sprinkle over persons on auspicious occasions. పచ్చరెక్క poṭsṭsa-rekka. n. The Indian Bee-eater, Merops viridis. పెద్దపచ్చరెక్క or కొమ్మపచ్చరెక్క pedda-paṭsṭsa-rekka. n. The blue tailed Bee-eater. Meropus philippensis. (F.B.I.) పచ్చవలువదారి paṭsṭsa-valuva-dāri. n. Lit: One who wears a yellow cloth, i.e., Vishṇu, పీతాంబరుడు. పచ్చవారుపవు౛ోదు or పచ్చవార ్వపు౛ోడు paṭsṭsa-vāruvupuḍzōdu. n. Lit: One who rides on a green animal, i.e., the sun or Manmadha. హరిదశ్వుడు, శుకవాహుడు. పచ్చవిలుతుడు. పచ్చవిల్తుడు or పచ్చవిలుకాడు paṭsṭsa-vilutuḍu. n. Lit: The green bow-man, i.e., Manmadha, whose bow is green, being made of a sugar cane. పచ్చారె చెట్టు paṭsṭs-āre-cheṭṭu. [పచ్చ+ఆరెచెట్టు.] n. A large forest tree with a very fragrant flower, Banhenia spicata.

(p. 702) paṇata paṇatā. [Tel.] n. A certain part of a plough. నాగేటిగొడగ, నాగలి యొక్క మేడి తగిలించే మొద్దువంటిది. పణతపడు paṇata-paḍu. v. n. To suffer from lockjaw. దవడ నరాలు పట్టుకొను.

(p. 745) pāla pāla. [Tel. from పాలు milk.] n. The bird called the Indian Roller, boracias indica (F.B.I.) the flight of which is consulted as an omen. It is erroneously called a blue jay. Various varieties are called గొర్రెపాలపిట్ట and మేకపాలపిట్ట. See Jerdon No. 243. A treatise on Omens says. 'పాలగరుడతప్ప పక్షిజాతులకెల్ల నెడమమండికుడికి నెగయవలయు.' పాల or పాలతీగ n. A certain tree, ఇక్షుగంధ, క్షీరికావృక్షము; of which there are various species as, అడవిపాలతీగ Nerium reticulatum, కాకిపాలతీగ Asclepias asthmatica, దూదిపాలతీగ Asclepias volubilis, మట్టపాలతీగ Convolvulus paniculatus; చిరుపాల, అనగా ఉటని. Q. మన్నుపాల, అనగా ఉత్పల కృష్ణ. Q. పాలపండు, అనగా కనిష్ట. Q. Various species of the 'milk plant' are called మేకపాలతీగ, కుక్కపాలతీగ, &c. పాల adj. White. పాలవెండి pure silver. పాలకన్ను pāla-kannu. n. A sort of earth, a whitish marl. పైని యిసుకగల రేగడనేల. పాలగుమ్మ Same as పాలపిట్ట. పాలగొర్రు pāla-gorru. n. A rake used in husbandry. పాలగోకుడు pāla-gokuḍu. n. The butter that sticks to the bottom of a milk pot. పాలచెట్టు pāla-cheṭṭu. n. A species of the Mimusops tree. పాలచేప pāla-chēpa. n. A sort of Salmon. పాలచేరులు or పాలచేర్లు pāla-chērulu. n. The nerves. బీజములకు పైననుండునరాలు, గ౛్జనరాలు. 'సీ పాలచేరులపట్టి తూలింప బలిమి నీడ్చుకొని డొంకలదూరి చుట్టబెట్టు.' Swa. iv. 68. 'సీ కటికినెత్తురులతో గండలుర్లిపడంగ, జేరి పందులపాల చేర్లుకరచు.' S. i. 202. పాలటేకు or పాలతేకు pāla-ṭēku. n. The white wooded teak tree. పాలడ pālaḍa. (పాలు+అడుగు.) n. A shell used as a spoon or ladle in giving milk to a child. పాలతుత్తము or పాలతుత్తరము pāta-tuttamu. n. White vitriol. పాలపండ్లు pāla-panḍlu. n. Milk teeth. Also (from పండు,) a sort of sweet white berries. A. iv. 114. పాలపపడు pāla-pāpaḍu. n. An infant at the breast. పాలవెడిస or పాలవలిస pālapeḍisa. n. A poor or destitute person. plu. బీదలు. బీదనరాలు lean sinews. బీదపిట్టకు దోమతెవులు a fly can torment a starved bird. బీదగిల్లు bīdagillu. v. n. To become poor. బీదగిల్లిపోయిన impoverished. బీదరికము or బీదతనము bīdarikamu. n. Poverty.

(p. 888) bīra bīra. [Tel.] n. The sharp angled cucumber. నేతిబీర the butter cucumber. చేతిబీర or చేదుబీర the bitter kind. మగబీర Anisomeles malabarica. (Watts.) adj. Large, పెద్ద. బీరెండ hot sun-shine. బీరజడలు luxuriant tresses. బీరనరాలు large veins. ఆడబీరాకు or గోడలబీరాకు Betony leaved black Horehound, Ballota disticha. బీరపండ్లు bīra-panḍlu. n. A sort of scarlet berries, that are eaten, but quite distinct from బీరకాయ.

Earth, mud, soil, dirt. మంటబెట్టు to inter or bury. పూడ్చు, పాతిపెట్టు. వానికి మన్నుమిన్నుకానరాలేదు he is too proud to care for anything in heaven or on earth. మన్నుదిండి, మనుదిండి or మన్దిండి manu-dinḍi. n.
