(p. 316) koṭṭu koṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To strike. గంట కొట్టినది the clock has struck. గాలి కొట్టుచున్నది the wind is blowing. కంపు కొట్టినది it smells badly. కొల్లగొట్టినాడు he plundered. పిడుగు ఆ చెట్టును చీలగొట్టినది the thunder bolt struck and split the tree. దాన్ని పురుగులుకొట్టినవి insects have attacked it. వానికి ముఖము కొట్టినది he is surfeited or gorged. వానకొట్టినది there was rain. వానికి ఎండకొట్టినది he was exposed to the sun. కొట్టినపిండి a well bruised flour, -- a phrase implying thorough knowledge of any subject. వానికి రామాయణము కొట్టినపిండి he is thoroughly acquainted with the Rāmāyaṇa. 'కోమలినాకునెట్టియెడ కొట్టినపిండి సమస్తలలోకముల్ నీమదికింపులైనయవి నిర్భరశక్తినిదేసమర్థుడన్.' KP. vi. 30.

(p. 367) giṭṭu giṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To die, expire. చచ్చు, నశించు. 'పుట్టిరేని వారుగిట్టిరేని' what though they be born, what though they die (Vēma). To suit, agree, match or meet, to be met. అనుకూలించు. to gnash. వాడికి పండ్లుగిట్టుకొనిపోయినవి his teeth were set in agony. వానికిని నాకును గిట్టదు he and I do not agree. నాకు గిట్టనివారు those who hate me, my ill wishers. ధరగిట్టక not agreeing on a price. అది నాకు గిట్టదు I do not like it, I cannot endure it. గిట్టీగిట్టక ఉన్నారు they are hardly on good terms. గిట్టని unsuitable. గిట్టమి disagreement, enmity. గిట్టమితనము spitefulness. v. a. To attack, meet with; లేండ్లగమిగిట్టుకోల్పులి the tiger that attacks the deer. M. 9. 1. 260. కలియు, కదియు, పైపడు, తాకు, పొదుపుకొను. 'శక్తిదండకృపాణ పాశములు నీటెగదయు శూలముగొని నిశాచరుని గిట్టి' T. v. 111. గిట్టుబడి or గిట్టింపు giṭṭubaḍi. n. Profit (in trade): in demand. గిట్టింపైన సరుకులు goods that are profitable to the seller, good articles.

(p. 626) nakārapollu nakāra-pollu. [Tel.] n. The ్ sing of N final. This is exemplified in the words నాకున్, వానికిన్, ఇంటిలోన్, బైటన్.

(p. 654) nimittamu nimittamu. [Skt.] n. A cause, reason, motive, mark, sign, token, omen. హేతువు, చిహ్నము, గురి, శకునము, దుర్నిమిత్తము a bad omen. As an affix: Respecting, regarding, on account of, because of. అందునిమిత్తము for that reason, therefore ఉప్పునిమిత్తము పోయినది she is gone for salt. ఆ యాస్తికిని నాకును నిమిత్తము లేకుండా చేసినారు they cut me off from the estate. దీన్ని అడగడమునకు నీకేమి నిమిత్తము what business have you to ask this? అతని దర్శననిమిత్తమై పోతిని I went to visit him. నిమిత్తముమాలినపని an unreasonable act. నిమిత్తముమాలినమాట a groundless assertion. నానిమిత్తమై నీవు కొంచెము ప్రయాసపడవలెను you must take a little trouble for me, or on my account.

(p. 1056) yugmali yugmali. [Tel.] n. A woman. ఆడుది. 'ఇట్టిచెల్వోన్నతి చేర్చెమోమనము యుగ్మలియందును నాకునారయన్.' M. III. vi.

(p. 1080) ruci ruchi. [Skt.] n. Taste, flavour, relish. చవి. Desire, wish, inclination, ఇచ్చ. A ray of sunlight, సూర్యకిరణము. Lustre, light, splendour, రాగము, ప్రభ, కాంతి. రుచించు or రుచియించు ruchinṭsu. v. n. To be agreeable, to be sweet. ఇష్టమగు. అది నాకు రుచింపలేదు I did not like it. 'ఇప్పని నాకున్ సరిపోదు మీకురిచియింపన్ బోలునిప్పట్టునన్.' S. iii. 368. రుచికరము ruchi-karamu. adj. Delicious, fine, sweet, agreeable.చవిగల. సారముగల. రుచిగల or రుచి అయిన ruchi-gala. adj. Tasty, of good flavour, delicious. చవిగల. రుచిచూచు ruchi-ṭsūtsu. v. a. To taste. చవిచూచు. రుచిరము or రుచ్యము ruchiramu. adj. Tasty, sweet, pleasing. Charming, beautiful, మనోహరమైన, చక్కని, ఒప్పిదమైన.

(p. 1093) laṅkiñcu lankintsu. [Tel.] v. a. To join, unite. తగిలించు, చేర్చు. To link or couple together, as two bullocks, పెనవేయు. 'గు౛్జుకోడెలబట్టుకొని ప్రీతిలంకించియుండ లంకియతోడగండుమీరి పారెనక్కోడియల్.' M. XII. iv. 39. To disgrace. అవమానించు. లంకించుకొను lankinṭsu-konu. v. a. To seize, or take by artifice. చెయి చిక్కించుకొను, తంత్రముగా వలలో వేసికొను. లంకె or లంకియ lanke. n. Coupling or tying two animals together. A link, connection. రెండుపశువుల మెడకు తాడుకట్టడము, పెన, కూడిక, సంబంధము, తగులుపాటు, కూర్చడము, సంగము. 'నీకునునాకున్ దైవంబులకెవేసెను.' Vish. vi. 31. ఆ రెండు చెరువులు లంకెలుగానున్నవి those two tanks are connected, lit: are as links. వానికి దుడ్డుకులంకె he is much attached to money. 'భార్గవతలమున భర్గస్వామికి కీలించెద లంకెగకేల్ముణుతలు.' H. iv. 303. లంకె or లంకెమానిసి lanke. n. A slave, vassal. బంటు, దాసుడు. లంకెవలుపు lanke-palupu. n. A tether that ties two animals together. లంకెపాటు lanke-pāṭu. n. Clinging together. ఒకటితోనొకటి కరుచుకొని యుండడము. Connection, తగులము. 'సీ లలనపాదంబున లంకెపాటై యుండి రాజనునేనూపురంబులార.' R. v. 280. లంకెపీట lanke-pīṭa. n. A wooden plank used in linking cattle together. పశువులను పెనవేయుపలక. లంకెపెట్టు or లంకెవేయు lanke-peṭṭu. v. a. To link together, తగులు పరుచు, పెనవేయు.

(p. 1361) sōla sōla. [Tel.] n. A certain dry measure, equal to a seer. పదునారు డబ్బులయెత్తు వస్తువుపట్టేకొలది, శాస్త్రకారుడుచెప్పినది తొమ్మన్నూరుగింజలు పట్టేది. సోలవెలితిగా sōla-veliti-gā. adv. Scornfully, contemptuously. కొంచెము తక్కువగా. 'ఏలయీబహురూపులేవైన మున్ను సోలవెలితిగనిన్ను జూచితినయ్య.' BD. iv. 1028. 'ఈ చందమిట్లుతాల్పక యాచందంబున నెయున్న యప్పుడునిన్నున్ జూచితినెపోలవెలితిగ నీ చుక్కల దగిలికొనగనేటికి నాకున్.' BP. vi. 238. సోలెడు sōl-eḍu. adj. A small pailful. అరతవ్వెడు.
