(p. 661) nivartilu or నిర్తిల్లు ni-vartilu. v. n. To turn back. మరలబడు. నివర్థించు or నివృత్తించు ṇivartinṭsu. v. a. To quit, abandon; to renounce, resign, cease from; to do away with, to quash, నివర్తిల్లజేయు. నివర్తి or నివృత్తి nivarti. n. Doing away, removing, abolition. దారిద్య్ర నివృత్తి అగుటకై so that the poverty might be removed.

(p. 960) malagu or మలుగు malagu. [Tel.] v. a. and v. n. To wander, to roam about, to turn, to quit. తిరుగు, మళ్లు, మరలు, నివృత్తిచేయు. To be bent, వంకరగు. 'సారెమలంగిచూచుచున్.' A. iii. 28. 'వినుమజ్ఞానంబునగర్మని రూఢతగలుగు, దానమలగవుజననంబునుమరణము.' M. XII. vi. 163. మలచు, మలుచు, మలపు or మలుపు malaṭsu v. a. To cause to turn, మలగజేయు, త్రిప్పు, మళ్లించు. To chip, to cut stone with a chisel, to engrave a stone. కక్కువేయు, ఉలితోచెక్కు. To winnow grain so as to remove pebbles, dirt, &c. బియ్యములోని రాళ్లు తీసివేయు. మలచినబియ్యము winnowed grain. ఎడ్లనుమలచు to turn the oxen. To fold, to bend. మడుచు.' కెమ్మోవులు మలంచి లోలోన నయ్యన నొయ్యనను చక్కను.' A. iv. 45. టీ మలంచి అనగా మడిచి, పెదవివిరిచి. 'పాదములు పిల్కలు నొక్కటిగా మలంచి.' T. iii. 120. టీ మలంచి, చుట్టి. మలపు malapu. n. (p. 1107) lē lē. [Tel.] The base of the negative forms లేక, లేని, లేదు, &c. లేక lēka. past participle of లేదు. Not being, not being present, without, wanting. అతడు అక్కడ లేకపోవుటవల్ల by his not being there. వానికి రూకలు లేకపోవుటవల్ల by being in want of money. దాన్ని అణిచేవారులేక యిట్లు విడబడి తిరిగినది she played these pranks as there was no one to check her. కూటికిలేక being in want of food. When added to the infinitive, it means Unable. రాలేక unable to come. దానిని చూడలేక unable to look at it, unable to bear the sight of it. లేకుండ or లేకుండా lēk-unḍā. is used in much the same way as లేక; e.g. అతడు లేకుండ నావల్లకాదు I cannot do it without him లేకుండాచేయు lēk-unḍā-chēyu. v. a. To do away, to get rid of, to turn out. నివృత్తిచేయు. వారిని ఆ యింటిలోలేకుండా చేయుము turn them out of the house. అది వాడు ఇవ్వనక్కరలేకుండా చేస్తిని I relieved him from the necessity of giving it. లేకుండు lēk-unḍu. v. n. To be absent, to be wanting. లేడు lēḍu. He is not; he is not present. ఇంటిలోలేడు he is not in the house. చేయలేడు he cannot do it. వీక్షంపగలేడయ్యె. he could not behold it. లేదా lēdā. It it not? or, or else. అది అక్కడ లేదా is it not there? లేదు lēdu. It is not. అది అక్కడ లేదు. it is not there. లేనట్టు lēn-aṭṭu. As if it is not అతడు లేనట్టున్నది it appears he is not there. అతడు లేనట్టు తెలిసి knowing that he was not there. లేని lēni. adj. Devoid of. తెలివిలేనివాడు he who is devoid of sense. వాడు నోరులేనివాడు he is a dumb creature, a mere fool. తప్పులేని faultless. దోవలేని అడవి a pathless forest. వెలలేనిమాణిక్యము a priceless gem. లేనిపోనిపని nonsense, a fool's errand. లేనిపోనిసౌఖ్యములు vain deluding joys. లేనిమాటలు slanders, falsehoods. లేనిపోనిసాకు a false pretence. పోరులేని పోరుపుట్టె నీప్రొద్దు a dispute arose without cause. 'అదియుగాక రాజ్యమును మహాభూతంబు సోకినప్పు డెట్టిసుజనులకును లేనిచీకుదనములేనిమూగతనము, లేని చెవుడు గొంతయైనకలదు.' K. P. v. 248. లేనివారు the absent; the poor. లేమి lēmi. n. Nullity, not being, absence, want, poverty. కలుగమి, ఉండమి, దారిద్య్రము. 'జనకుడు లేమికింగడువిషాదము నొందె.' M. X. ii. 17. ధనములేమి want of wealth. కలిమిలేములు gains and losses, riches and poverty. లేమిడి lēmiḍi. n. Poverty, want. దారిద్య్రము. లేరు lēru. v. 3rd. pers. plu. They are not. M. V. i. 342. వారు లేరు they are not here. not living. లేవు lēvu. v. (neuter.) They are not.

(p. 1109) lēpu lēpu. [Tel. from లేచు.] v. a. To cause to rise, to raise, లేవజేయు. To rouse, awake, stir up. నిద్రలేపు to arouse from sleep దుమ్ములేపు to raise dust. అడ్డముగా ఒకగోడ లేపినాడు he raised a wall across. వాణ్ని ఆ యింటిలోనుండి లేపు turn him out of the house. లేపించు lēpinṭsu. v. a. To remove, to turn out, వెళ్లగొట్టు, నివృత్తిచేయు. వారిని ఆ యింటిలోనుంచి లేపించినాడు he turned them out of the house. లేపు. n. A bed. మెత్త, పరుపు. 'చిల్కలకోళ్లనందమౌ, సకినెల పట్టెమంచమున చాయనగామతివాసుపైదురం, గికమొకమాలులేపున నొగింశయనించెమనోభవన్యధన్.' H. i. 73. A mane, ౛ూలు.

(p. 1126) vaḍraṅgi, vaḍlaṅgi, vaḍlavāḍu or వడ్లబత్తుడు vaḍrangi. [Tel.] n. A carpenter. వడ్రంగము, వడ్లపని, వడ్రము or వడ్లంగితనము vaḍrangamu. n. The trade of a carpenter. వడ్లవానివృత్తి. వడ్రంగిపని. వడ్రంగిపిట్ట or వడ్లంగిపిట్ట vaḍrangi-piṭṭa. n. A woodpecker. దార్వాఘాటము. వడ్లకంకణము vaḍla-kankaṇamu. n. A curlew. ఉల్లంకులలో భేదము. వడ్లత or వడ్లది vaḍlata. n. A woman of the carpenter caste.

(p. 1172) viḍucu or విడ్చు viḍuṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. &a. To relinquish, leave, quit, abandon, give up, loosen, slacken, untie, undo, To cease, to terminate. చాలించుకొను, మానుకొను, వదలుకొను. ఆ చెట్టు నాలుగు కొమ్మలు విడిచినది that tree has produced four branches. వానవిడిచెను the rain is over. గ్రహణము విడిచినది the eclipse is now over. చీడవిడిచినది the plague has ceased. అంటువిడిచినది the impurity has passed away. దయ్యమువిడిచినది the demon has quitted him or let him go. క్రోధమునువిడిచినాడు he has laid aside his wrath. చేనిలో ఆవును మేయవిడిచినాడు he let the cow go to graze on the crop. ఆహారమునువిడిచెను he gave up eating. ప్రాణమునువిడిచెను he gave up eating. ప్రాణమునువిడిచెను he gave up the ghost. ఆమె కన్నీళ్లువిడిచెను she shed tears. బాణమువిడుచు to discharge a rocket. ఆ కోటును విడిచిపోయిరి they quitted the fort. తర్పణమువిడుచు to perform a certaian rite. పట్టినపట్టు విడువడు he will never let go his hold.కుమార్తెను అత్తవారియింట విడిచినాడు he left his daughter at the house of her mother-in-law. దినమువిడిచి దినము on alternate days, every other day. బట్టలువిడుచు to strip. ఊపిరివిడుచు to breathe. వారిని చెయ్యి విడిచినాడు he abandoned them. 'కొంగుకాసువిడిచిగొబ్బుననీరాదు.' Vema. 171. విడిచిపెట్టు viḍichi-peṭṭu. v. a. To relinquish, leave, quit, abandon, give up. To loosen, untie, undo, చాలించుకొను, వదలు. విడిపించు viḍipinṭsu. v. a. To loose, let go, release. విడిచిపెట్టు, వదలు, పోనిచ్చు. విడిపించుకొను viḍipinṭsu-konu. v. n. To escape, get free, break loose, విడివడు, వదలించుకొను. విడుత viḍuta. n. A time, తడవ. ఒకవిడుత once. రెండువిడుతలు twice. విడుదల, విడుపు, విడ్పు or విడుమర viḍu-dala. n. Release, liberation, setting at liberty, freeing, కడతేరడము, నివృత్తి, విమోచనము. విడుదలసన్నదు a deed of surrender or relinquishment. విడుపు also means Almsgiving, దానము. విడుపరి viḍup-ari. n. One who abandons a friend, &c. పరిత్యాగశీలుడు. A liberal man, త్యాగశీలుడు. విడువడు viḍu-vaḍu. (విడుపు+పడు.) v. n. To separate, to be severed. వీడియెడబాయు.

(p. 1183) vimuktamu vi-muktamu. [Skt.] adj. Quite liberated, freed, redeemed. మిక్కిలి విడువబడిన, నివృత్తమైన, విమోచనముచేయబడిన. విముక్తి vi-mukti. n. Liberation, release, redemption, especially final emancipation from further transmigration. విమోచనము, మోక్షము, అపవర్గము. విముక్తుడు vi-muktuḍu. n. One who is liberated or redeemed. విమోచనముచేయబడినవాడు, ముక్తుడు.

(p. 1199) vīgu vīgu. [Tel.] v. n. To rejoice, to be enthusiastic, ఉత్సహించు. To be proud, నిక్కు. To become large or big, స్థూలమగు. To move or step aside, to get out of the way, to retreat, తొంగు, వెనుకదీయు. To cease, to go off. నివృత్తియగు. 'సకుటుంబముగ వీగిచరమశైలము జేరుతుహినాంశుదుము దారుదొరయనంగ.' (p. 1200) vīḍu vīḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To be separated, loosened or unfastened, విడిపోవు, విడిచిపెట్టు, వదలు. To become plain or evident, విశదమగు. To be fulfilled, కొనసాగు. To increase, prosper, వర్ధిల్లు. v. a. To cause to be separated, వీడజేయు. 'దేవకీసుతుకోర్కితీగలువీడంగ వెలదికిమైదీగెవీడదొడగె.' BX. వీడజేయు vīḍa-jēyu. v. a. To do away, to cause to be separated. నివృత్తిజేయు. వీడదీయు vīḍa-dīyu. v. a. To take off, to separate. తీసివేయు, చీలదీయు. వీడదొక్కు vīḍa-dokku. v. a. To apportion, assign. పాలుపంచు. వీడుకొను or వీడ్కొను. vīḍu-konu. v. a. To quit, leave, abandon. To take leave or permission, విడుచు, విడిచిపెట్టు, వదలు, పోయివచ్చెదనని చెప్పుకొని వదలు, సెలవుపుచ్చుకొను. 'పామడు పుత్రుల దీవించి పునర్ధర్శన మయ్యెదమనచు వీడ్కొనినిజనివాసంబులకుంజనిరి.' M. IV. i. 54. 'అరణము గనిచ్చి సుఖముండుడనుచు దక్షుడబ్జువీడ్కొని భార్యతోనరిగెనపుడు.' T. iv. 195. వీడుకొలుపు or వీడ్కొలుపు vīḍu-kolupu. v. a. To send away, dismiss, పంపించు. సగనంపు. 'బ్రాహ్మణద్వేషంబులేక బ్రతుకుండని వీడ్కొలిపినంబోయి.' P. iii. 254. వీడుకోలు or వీడ్కోలు vīḍu-kōlu. n. Permission to go. పోవననుజ్ఞ. The act of leaving or quitting, విడుపు. Permission, leave. అనుజ్ఞ, సెలవు. Death, చావు. వీడుచు vīḍuṭsu. v. a. To cause to be separated, వీడజేయు. To let go, give up, విడిచిపెట్టు. వీడు౛ోడాడు vīḍu-dzōd-āḍu. v. n. To undergo a change, to be changed. మారుపాటునొందు. To resemble, సరిపోలు. వీడు౛ోడు Same as విజ్జోడు. (q. v.) విడుపడు, వీడ్పడు, వీడువడు or వీడ్వడు viḍu-paḍu. v. n. To be changed, మారుపడు. To differ, భేదపడు. To totter, as feet, తడబడు. వీడుపాటు or వీడ్పాటు vīḍu-pāṭu. n. Change, మారుపాటు. Difference, వ్యత్యాసము. A decision, settlement. ఏర్పాటు. 'కల్లయున్ నియమువీడ్పాటొందగా.' KP. iii. 269.

(p. 1240) śaṅka ṣanka. [Skt.] n. Suspicion, doubt. సందేహము. Fear, terror. భయము. Grief, sorrow విచారము, శంకానివృత్తి the solution of a doubt, సందేహ విమోచనము; a motion of the bowels, an evacuation, పురీష విసర్జనము. శంకానివృత్తికి పోయినాడు he went to stool. శంకించు, శంకిల్లు, శంకిపడు or శంకనొందు ṣankintsu. v. n. To hesitạte, doubt, suspect, సందేహించు. To fear, భయపడు. శంకితము ṣankitamu. adj. Doubtful, uncertain, suspected. సందేహింపబడిన, అనుమానింపబడిన. Frightened, భయపడిన.

(p. 1283) saṃyamamu sam-yamamu. [Skt.] n. Restraint or control of the passions. Humanity, compassion, the temper that shuns giving pain to others, gentleness. పరపీడాదినివృత్తి, హింసాదులను విడిచిపెట్టుట. సంయమి sam-yami. n. A hermit, or monk. ముని, సంయమముగలవాడు.
