That time, ఆకాలము చిన్ననాడు when he was young, in infancy. ఒకనాటికీ వినడు he will never consent. ఆనాడు at that time. తాతనాడు in my grand-father's time. నాటినుండి since that time. తండ్రినాటనుంచి from the time of his father. సంవత్సరమునాటికి చెల్లించే రూకలు the money payable at the end of the year. నాటివారు the people of that time. నాటిపుస్తకము the book of those times. అది యెన్నాళ్లనాడు how long ago was it? నాలుగేండ్లనాడు four years back. నాటికి on that day, by that time, to that day. నాడే oh I dare say! to be sure! నాటిపని the matter you wot of, you know what I mean. ఇది శానా దినములనాటిది this is very ancient. నానాడు nā-nāḍu. adv. Day by day, now and then. నానాటికి nā-nāṭiki. adv. Day by day, by degrees.

(p. 698) paṭṭu paṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To suffice, to last. చెల్లు. To last a long time, హుకాలము చెల్లు. To begin, ప్రారంభించు. To happen, కలుగు. కలుగు. To cost. To fit or suit. To be possessed by evil spirits. To arrive, as ships. To be imbibed or absorbed, as a dye. To be held or contained. To be affected by disease or pain. v. a. [పట్టు is also added to a great number of nouns, to give them a verbal signification and in such cases it takes its meaning from the noun to which it is affixed; thus:] తప్పుపట్టు to rust. ఇలుకుపట్టు to be sprained. అక్కరపట్టు to be necessary, to be required or to take interest in. కొవ్వుపట్టు to become fat. బూజుపట్టు to grow mouldy, దోవపట్టు to take a road. సత్తువపట్టు to be recovered, as strength. పట్లుపట్టు to be seized with cramp, &c. వాడు లంచము పట్టుచున్నాడు he takes bribes. వాడికి వెర్రిపట్టినది he has gone mad. నాకు చలిపట్టుచున్నది I feel cold. వాని గుణములు నీకు పట్టుపడినవి you have contracted his habits. వానపట్టినప్పుడు when rain came on. అట్లు చేయడానకు నీకేమిపట్టినది what business had you to do this? what made you do this? గడ్డిపట్టినబీళ్లు land covered with grass. వానిమీద తప్పుపట్టినారు they found fault with him. ఆ మందు నోరుపట్టినది the medicine made his mouth swell. వానికి ౛లుబు పట్టినది he has caught cold. నాకు కూరుకు పట్టినది I became drowsy. ఆ దూడ యింకా గడ్డి పట్ట లేదు the calf has not yet taken to grass. పట్టించు paṭṭinṭsu. [causal of పట్టు.] v. a. To cause to hold. To apply oil or ointment, &c. To make one begin. ఆ చిన్నవాడికి అమరము పట్టించినారు they have made him begin (reading) the Amaram. రేపు నీపని పట్టిస్తాను or నీతాళముపట్టిస్తాను I will settle your business to-morrow, i.e., I will punish you. ఆ పెట్టెను వానిచేతి పట్టించుకొనిరా make him bring the box with you. పట్టింపు paṭṭimpu. n. Application. Concern. పిల్లకాయలచేత ఒక పుస్తకము ఆరంభించడము, శ్రద్ధ, అక్కర, పాటింపు. అమరము పట్టింపు అయిన మూడు నెలలకు three months after setting to work on the Amaram. ఆరాధ్యులకు కర్మమందు పట్టింపులేదు the Aradhyas pay no attention to rites. 'లేనిపట్టింపులెల్లను పూనిచాన.' Ila. iii. 29. పట్టు paṭṭu. n. Holding, a hold. గ్రహణము, పట్టుకొనుట. A handful. Pertinacity, resolution, hold, strength, grip, grasp, seizing. గ్రహణము. An external application to a swelling to allay pain, &c. పూత. Ground, for a proceeding, కారణము. A prop; support, favor; a party or side, ఆధారము. A part of scene in a play, స్థానము, విషయము. విరహపుపట్టు an amorous scene,. యుద్ధపుపుట్టు a warlike scene. A feat in wrestling. అది తలకు పట్టు పెట్టుకొని పండుకొన్నది she put a plaster on her temples and went to bed. ఈ వ్యాజ్యములో పట్టులేదు there is no proper plea in this suit. ఒకని పట్టుగా మాట్లాడుట to speak on a man's behalf. ఒక పట్టుగానుండు to inhit pertinaciously. ఉనికిపట్టు a place, a house, an abode. వాడు పట్టినపట్టు వదలడు he will not relinquish his purpose. వాణ్ని పట్టిన పట్టున తీసుకొనివచ్చిరి they brought him as he was. పట్టుస్నానము bathing at the commencement of an eclipse, as opposed to విడుపుస్నానము bathing at its termination. ఆయన పట్టుబిడుపు తెలిసినవాడు he knows where to be lenient and where to be severe. కూతపట్టునేల as far as a cry may be heard. వారికి కర్మములో పట్టులేదు they do not lay much stress upon ceremonies. వాడు ఎంతమాత్రము పట్టు ఇవ్వకుండా మాట్లాడుచున్నాడు he speaks without giving them any handle. చాలా మంది ఆయనపట్టు అయిరి many followed him, or joined his side. పట్టున (with న the sign of the ablative) at, by, close to. కోరడి పట్టు న along the hedge. గాడీపట్టున at the manager. ఈ పట్టున at present, పట్టు feats in wrestling. కాడు జెట్టిపట్లుపట్టగలడు he is able to wrestle. ఆ చుట్టుపట్ల in the adjacent places, in the neighbourhood. చుట్టుపట్ల వాండ్లు neighbours. పట్టు paṭṭu. n. An ant hill, వల్మీకము. పాముపుట్ట an ant hill in which a snake lives. నాగులచవితికి పుట్టలో పాలుపోయుదురు they pour milk in a snake's hole on the feastday called Nāgula Ṭsaviti. A pack, number, collection, lot heap, crowd. ఆ యిల్లు చీమలపుట్టగా నున్నది the house is a regular ant's nest. ఆ పుస్తకము అబద్ధాలపుట్టగానున్నది that book is a pack of lies. వాని ఒళ్లు వట్టినరములపుట్ట he is mere skin and bone. పుట్టకాపు or పుట్టకూడుదిండి puṭṭa-kāpu. n. Lit: That which feeds on ant hills, i.e., a bear, ఎలుగుగొడ్డు. పుట్టకాలు puṭṭa-kālu. n. A leg swollen with elephantiasis, బూరకాలు, ఏనుగుకాలు. 'పుట్టకాల్ సొట్టవ్రేల్ వట్టివ్రేలుంజెవుల్.' Jagan. i. 54. పుట్టకాలివాడు one who is afflicted with elephantiasis in the leg. పుట్టకుడు puṭṭa-kūḍu. n. The heart of an ant hill, the red earth that contains the eggs. A fungus. కుక్కగొడుగు. 'వ పొట్టకైపుట్టకూటికిం జీమలకుం జెదలునకు నెలుంగులు గలుగులం బుట్టలు నిశితనిజ నఖరకులిశ కోటులంగోరాడ.' Swa. iv. 49. పుట్టకొక్కు, పుట్టగొడుగు or పుట్టచేర్పు puṭṭa-kokku. n. A mushroom, toadstool, fungus. M. XII. v. 418. పుట్టకోట puṭṭa-kōta. n. A bulwark, a buttress. కోటకు కోటబైట వేసిన మట్టితిన్నె. పుట్టకోవలు the pointed tops of ant hills, పుట్టమీదిశిఖరములు. పుట్టగోచి puṭṭa-gōchi. n. A large modesty piece. పెద్దగోచి, కాపీనము. పుట్టచిలుక puṭṭa-chiluka. n. The Sirkeer Cuckoo. Taccocua leschnenaultii, (F.B.I.) పుట్టచూలు or పుట్టపుట్టువు puṭṭa-ṭsūlu. n. He who was 'born of an ant hill.' This is a word translated from the Sanscrit name వాల్మీకి. Vālmīki. పుట్టతమ్మచెట్టు puṭṭa-tamma-cheṭṭu. n. A large creeping plant, the fruit of which is used medicinally. పుట్టతేనె puṭṭa-tēne. n. Honey found in an ant-hill. పుట్టతేలు puṭṭa-tēlu. n. The large black scorpion, so called because found in rubbish. మరిడ్రగబ్బ. పుట్టముంగి puṭṭa-mungi. n. Lit: A mongoose on an ant hill, used as a type of composure. adj. Demure. అది తిట్టుచుండగా పుట్టముంగివలె మారకయుండినాడు she reviled him but he stood stock still. పుట్టలమ్మ puṭṭal-amma. n. A village goddess.

Added to infinitives in A, it gives the signification of intent or futurity. వ్రాయబోతే వద్దన్నాడు when I was going to write he told me not to do so. దాన్ని కొట్టబోయినాడు he was about to strike her. వారెప్పుడు పోబోతారు when are they going to set out? చెప్పబోయేవుసుమీ take care, you don't mention it. Affixed to the past affirmative participles of many verbs, it denotes completeness: as ఆ గోడ పడిపోయినది the wall has fallen down. ఆ మాటలు ఇప్పుడు ఏటిలో కలిసిపోయినవి those words are now all forgotten; lit: gone into the river. వారక్కడనే ఉండి పోయినారు they settled there. Joined to negative participles it is used to form a past tense negative. రాకపోయెను he did not come. పోకపోయెను he did not go. వినకపోయెను he would not listen. పోవుదెంచు Same as పోవు. Also, to pass, as time, కడచు, పోదోయు pō-dōyu. v. a. To baffle, to push back, to thrust away. పోదోలు pō-dōlu. v. a. To drive off. పోనాడు pōn-āḍu. v. a. To drive off, to turn away, to abandon. (p. 932) mañci manchi. [Tel.] n. Good, మేలు, మంచి చెబ్బరలు good and evil. adj. Good, excellent, best; sound, fine, fair; much, great, severe (as a blow, a fever,) heavy (as rain.) adv. Very, మిక్కిలి. వాడు మంచివాడు he is a good man. మంచివారితో చెలిమిచేయుము seek the company of good men. మంచిపేరు a good name, i.e., reputation, character. వాడు మంచిపేరెత్తినాడు he gained good repute. మంచినీళ్లు good or drinkable water. వానితో మంచిమాటలాడి ఆ పుస్తకమును తెస్తిని. Goodness, friendliness, gentleness. వానిని మంచితనము చేసికొన్నారు they spoke him fair or got him over. మంచితనాన అయ్యేది చెడుతనాన కాదు you may do that by fair means, which you cannot do by violence.
