(p. 4) aṅgaḍi angadi. [Drav.] (Gen. అంగటి Loc. అంగట, plu. అంగళ్లు) n. A shop. అంగడిపెట్టు to open a shop. అంగళ్లవాడ range of shops. అంగట పోకార్చి selling in the shop. అంగడివీధి a market place. ఆ సంగతిని అంగడిలో పెట్టినాడు he revealed or exposed the matter.

(p. 22) agacāṭlu agaṭsāṭlu. [Tel. from అగ్గము+చాటులు] అగ్గము+చాటులు] n. Evils, afflictions, troubles. కడగండ్లు, తిప్పలు. అగచాట్లుపడుచున్నాడు he suffers great distress. నన్ను అగచాట్లు పెట్టినాడు he brought me into trouble. అగచాట్లపోతు agaṭsāṭlapōtu. [Tel.] n. A wretch, a villain. దుష్టుడుగా తిరిగేవాడు. 'చిక్కు బిల్లలు మైనపు తేళ్లు చిక్కుముళ్లు జమిడాకు చిల్కలు తాళ్లపాములకట యగచాట్లపోతనై యాడుకొంటి.' H. iii. 192. అగచాట్లమారి agaṭsāṭlamāri. [Tel.] He who has suffered, a martyr, a sufferer. one who is thoroughly practised. నానాకడగండ్లు పడి తీరినవాడు, ఆరి తీరినవాడు.

(p. 65) appagiñcu appaginṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To entrust, commit, deliver to the charge of another, give over, to put into another's possession. ఒప్పగించు, పదిలముగా నుంచుమని వశముచేయు. అప్పగింత n. Delivery, consignment. ఒప్పగింత. ఆ యింటిని నాకు అప్పగింత పెట్టినాడు he made the house over to me.

(p. 75) amma amma. [Tel. cf. Aryan root 'Ma.'] n. Mother. తల్లి. Madam. అమ్మక్కచెల్ల, అమ్మచెల్ల alas! ah! oho! అమ్మణ్ని, అమ్మద్యు or అమ్మా or అమ్మల్ల interj. My dear, my love. అమ్మవారు amma-vāru. goddess. The small pox. బ్రాహ్మణస్త్రీ, పోలేరు, మశూచికము. ఆ సత్రములో వుండే అమ్మవారిని పిలువు call the Brahmin woman who is in the lodge. అమ్మవారికి పొంగలి పెట్టినారు they offered a sacrifice to the village goddess. వానికి అమ్మవారు పోసినది he has got the small pox. అమ్మవారి చుక్కలు, అమ్మ చుక్కలు pock marks. అమ్మవారి చుక్కలగల or అమ్మచుక్కలుగల pitted with the small pox. అమ్మవారు పోయించు to inoculate. అమ్మవారిధూము an outbreak of cholera. అమ్మాయి ammāyi. [Tel.] n. A little girl. పడుచు అమ్మి or అమ్మాళు n. Missy, my dear, my love.

(p. 195) ēku ēku. [Tel.] v. a. To beat కొట్టు. To pick, beat, or clean cotton. ఏకినదూది cleaned cotton. To slander, defame. దూరు, నిందించు. వాణ్ని యేకి కాకులకు పెట్టినారు they defamed him. ఏకించు ēkinṭsu. [the causal of ఏకు] v. t. To cause to pick or clean cotton. అతని చేత దూదిని యేకించినారు they made him clean the cotton. ఏకు n. A flock of cotton or wool. ఏకులువడుకు to spin cotton. ఏకుడు ēkuḍu.n. Cleaning cotton. దూదిని యేకడము.

(p. 205) oṇḍu onḍu. [Tel.] n. Sediment, deposit; mud left on land by a flood. గోదావరి ఒండు పెట్టినది. ఒండుమన్ను alluvial soil or loam used as manure.

(p. 215) olucu olutsu. [Tel.] v. a. To peel, shell, flay. To pare off, tear off. తోలూడ్చు. ఒలిచినపప్పు grain cleaned from the husk. ఒలవనిపప్పు grain in the husk. పండు ఒలిచి అరచేతపెట్టినట్టు చెప్పినాడు he said (it) as plainly as a fruit is peeled from its skin and placed in the hand; he gave a graphic description. (p. 234) kaḍagaṇḍlu kaḍa-gaṇḍlu. [Tel. కడ+కండ్లు.] n. Plagues, calamities, evils, dangers, afflictions, miseries, scrapes, troubles. కష్టములు, తొందరలు, శ్రమలు. నానాకడగండ్లుపడ్డారు they were exhausted or knocked up. నానాకడగండ్లు పెట్టినారు they handled him roughly. కడగండ్లమారి a troublesome fellow కష్టశీలుడు.

(p. 285) kīṭu kīṭu. [Tel.] n. A tire, a course, a layer, stratum or range. A line, mark, stroke. గోడ ఒకకేటు పెట్టినాడు he built one layer of the wall.

(p. 382) gulla gulla. [Tel.] n. A shell: a husk: a cowry shell. కప్పచిప్ప. A white pustule బొబ్బ. Anything hollow బోలు. Cotton in the pod. The hull of ship. (Vizag.) గుల్లకాసు a farthing: (lit. a shell) or a penny. గుల్లసున్నము shell lime. చింతగుల్ల tamarinds in the shell or husk. గుల్లాగుట్ర trash, rubbish, gewgaws. adj. Hollow, empty. బోలు. గుల్లకర్ర a tube. ఇల్లు గుల్లచేసినాడు or తుడిచిపెట్టినాడు he emptied or plundered the house. గుల్లపుటిక a small basket. గుల్లపొగాకు tobacco that is immature and worthless, గుల్లపడు to be disgraced అవమానపడు. గుల్లపరుచు to empty, to scorn, to disgrace. HD. ii. 168. గుల్లకాడు an empty handed man ఏమిన్ని లేనివాడు.

(p. 392) gōpuramu gōpuramu. [Skt.] n. An arch, a dome, a pinnacle. A portal door, a city gate. గవను, వాకిలి. A high pyramidal tower over the gates of a temple. A steeple. (Figuratively) Elysium. స్వర్గము. R. i. 151. గోపురము (in Telugu for మాపురము) is also the hump on a bullock. వాడు ఊరక నన్ను గోపురముమీద ఎత్తిపెట్టినాడు he flattered me grossly.

(p. 443) cali ṭsali. [Tel.] n. Cold, coolness, a chill. శీతము, శీతబాధ. చలిజ్వరము cold and fever, i.e., ague. నాకు చలిపెట్టినది I felt cold. చలి. adj. Cold, cool. చలికూడు cold food, breakfast. చలియిసుక camphor. Vasu. ii. 36. చలిగురువు ṭsali-garuvu. n. A soil composed of marl or sand covering black earth. మీద ఇసుకగలరాతిపారునేల. చలికొండ ṭsali-konḍa. n. The Himalaya mountains. చలిచీమ ṭsali-chīma. n. A black ant. చలిది, చచద్ది or చల్ది ṭsalidi. n. Breakfast. Lit: cold food left over from supper. చలిపందిలి ṭsali-pandili. n. A place where passers-by are supplied with water to drink. చలిపండ్లు ṭsali-panḍlu. n. The teeth being set on edge. (A. iv. 151. on which the note says 'జువ్వున పులుసు తిన్నందువల్ల తీసుక పొయ్యేనోటిపండ్లు.') చలిపని a cooling operation, శైత్యోపచారము. చలిబిండి ṭsali-binḍi. n. The name of a certain plant. చలిమల ṭsali-mala. n. The hill of snow, i.e., హిమాచలము. చలిమిడి ṭsalimiḍi. n. A mixture of rice flour and sugar బెల్లము కలిపిన పిండి. చలిమిరి or చల్మిరి ṭsali-miri. n. (p. 499) tampi tampi. [Tel.] n. A fire pit, used for boiling water. దాలిగుంట. A quarrel or squabble. కలహము. తంపిపెట్టు tampi-peṭṭu. v. n. To make a slow fire. To create a quarrel. వానికి వీనికి తంపిపెట్టినాడు he made them quarrel.

(p. 531) tirugu tirugu. [Tel.] v. n. To turn, rove, roam, travel. సంచరించు To be giddy. పరిభ్రమించు. To go back. వెనుకకుమరలు. To come again. మరలవచ్చు. To cease, go off, as, disease, be revoked, as an order. To fail, miss, be fruitless, to break one's faith. అతడు ఈ పనిలో తిరిగినాడు he was engaged in this business. వానికి ఒళ్లు తిరిగినది he felt giddy, he was sick, or vomited. మధ్యతిరుగు to intercede, act between others, be an agent. వానికి నోరు బాగా తిరగదు he does not pronounce well. ఆ మాట నా నోట్లో తిరగదు. I cannot pronounce that word. కావలితిరుగు to stand sentry. తిరగదీయు to tamper with or corrupt a witness తమ మాటకు తిరుగులేదు you are supreme: your word is law. హుండి తిరిగిపోయినది the bill was dishonoured. చుక్కలు తిరిగినది the stars have turned, i.e., it is past midnight. తిరుగాణి (తిరుగు+ఆణి.) a screw. సందుల తిరిగిరి they went round by the alleys. తిరుగు v. a. To go round, encircle. సరివేష్టించు. తిరుగు or తిరుగుడు tirugu. n. A turning, a turning back, తిరుగుట, భ్రమణము. A change మారుపాటు. A screw, a rivet, a carpenter's vice. మర. A bend or turn (as in a road.) Rebellion, resistance. తిరుగబడు or తిరగబడు tiruga-baḍu. v. t. To turn against, to rebel against, to oppose, to attack angrily. తిరగబాటు or తిరుగబాటు tiraga-bāṭu. n. Disobedience, rebellion, turning against. తిరగబోయు or తిరుగబోయు tiraga-bōyu. v. a. To spice, or season (a curry.) తిరగబోత or తిరుగబోత tiraga. n. Seasoning, putting spice, &c., to food. తిరగవేయు or తిరుగవేయు tiraga-vēyu v. a. To turn a thing over. తిరుగ or తిరుగా tiruga. adv. Again. తిరుగడ tirugaḍa. (తిరుగు+గడ.) n.
