(p. 377) guppu guppu. [Tel.] v. n. To be diffused, or spread, as a smell. 'ఇక్షుదండము ప్రేమ భక్షింపభక్షింప, చప్పనేలగురుచుల్ గుప్పుగాక.' Kalah. § 35. 'ధూపంబువాసనగుప్పన్.' T. ii. 84. గుప్పు v. a. To pound or beat. To throw, fling or toss. గందపొడిగుప్పిరి they threw powder in handfuls. 'అతనుడునృపతిగుప్పుచున్నాడు పువ్వుకోలలను' L. X. 98. To place ఉంచు. To sprinkle చల్లు. (p. 805) poḍi poḍi. [Tel.] n. Powder, dust. చూర్ణము. Solder, rosin, metallic cement. పొడి or ముక్కుపొడి snuff. పొడిపెట్టిఊదు to solder. చెరుకుకట్టెలపొడి pounded sugar, శర్కర. B. D. iii. 324. చొక్కుపొడి love powder. ఆ పిల్లవానిని చొక్కుపొడివేసి పట్టుకొని పోయినారు they deluded him with love powder and carried him off, ఆ పిల్లవానిని మరుల మురుచల్లి పట్టుకొనిపోయినారు. పొడిమిరియము or మిరియపుపొడి powdered pepper. (p. 805) poḍugu, poḍuvu, poḍagu or పొడవు poḍugu. [Tel.] n. Height, length, stature, ఎత్తు. వెలపొడుగుచీర an expensive or high priced cloth, ఖరీదుగల లేక కిమ్మత్తయిన చీర. సంవత్సరము పొడుగున throughout the year. adj. High, tall, long, lofty. High, as price. v. n. To grow tall, increase, extend, ఉన్నతమగు, వర్ధిల్లు. బియ్యము వెల పొడిగినది the price of rice has risen. పొడుగాటి or పొడుగుపాటి poḍugāṭi. adj. Long, tall. పొడవడగు poḍav-aḍagu. (పొడవు+అడగు.) v. n. (p. 817) pōṭi pōṭi. [Tel.] adj. Similar, like, resembling, ఈడైన, మారు. 'ఈ భూరిభరంబు మాన్ప ననుబోటి కశక్యము.' నాబోటివాడు a man like me. పోటి or పోటీ pōṭi. n. Emulation, competition, rivalry. స్పర్ధ. A prop. ఆసరా. వారు పోటీచేసినందున వెలపొడిగినది by their rivalry the price was raised. ఆ దూలమునకు పోటీ యిచ్చినాడు he set a prop against the beam. పోటిగాడు pōṭi-gāḍu. n. One who has a prop or support, పోటిగలవాడు. A companion, a fellow, an equal, సముడు, మిత్రుడు. పోటిపెట్టు to stir up emulation, to set by the ears.
