Fat-headed, proud, silly. ఇంతపనిచేస్తే వారిలో ఎట్లు తలయెత్తవచ్చును if he did this how could he shew his face among them? తలతో చెల్లించెను he paid for it with his head, it cost him his life. తలకుఎక్కేపని a perilous undertaking. తలకు ఎక్కినది it got into his head, he is intoxicated. తలకొట్టివేయు to decapitate or behead. తల (for తలను) మోయు to carry on the head. శిరసావహించు. (p. 940) magnamu magnamu. [Skt.] adj. Plunged, immersed, sunk, drowned. ముణిగిన. మగ్నుడు magnuḍu. n. (In composition,) One who is immersed. ముణిగినవాడు.

(p. 946) maṇi maṇi. [Skt.] n. A gem, a precious stone. పచ్చరాయిలోనగునది. A pearl, ముత్తెములోనగునది. In compounds this denotes Unrivalled excellence, as నాయికామణి a woman who is a gem of her sex. వప్రమణి the noblest of Brahmins. సుందరీమణి the loveliest of women. అంగనామణులు lovely women. దినమణి the gem of day, i.e., the sun. నవమణులు nine precious stones, viz. గోమేధికము Onyx, నీలము Sapphire, పగడము Coral, పుర్యరాగము Topaz, మరకతము Emerald, మాణిక్యము Ruby, Carbuncle; ముత్యము Pearl, వైడూర్యము Cat's eye. lapis lazuli; వజ్రము Diamond. మణులుచెక్కిన సంకెళ్లు jewelled fetters, i.e., disguised difficulties. మణికంఠము maṇi-kanṭhamu. n. The Indian Roller, Corracia indica, చాషము, పాలపిట్ట మణికట్టు, మనికట్టు or మణిబంధము maṇi-kaṭtu. [Tel.] n. The wrist; మణికట్లను తెగగొట్టు to cut off the hands. మణికారుడు maṇi-kāruḍu. n. A jeweller. A lapidary, or worker in precious stones. రత్నములు సానబట్టువాడు. మణిపట్టు maṇi-paṭṭu. n. A sort of flowered silk. ఒకవిధమైనపట్టు. మణిప్రవాళము maṇi-pravāḷamu. n. A doggerel verse: or a mixed language, part Sanscrit, part Telugu or Tamil, రెండు భాషలు కలిసిన. ముణిభతు maṇi-phittu. n. A diamond. Lit. 'the ruby cutter.' కలిసిన కవిత్వము. మణిమాల, మణిమాలిక or మణిబిందుమాలికా maṇi-māla. n. An impression left by a bite. దంతక్షతవిశేషము. A necklace. హారము. 'కమనీయమణిమాలికా శశ పదచంద్రరేఖాంకమౌతనూ రేఖతోడ.' T. iii. 126.

(p. 1001) muṇugu muṇugu. [Tel.] v. n. To sink, become immersed, submerged; to dive, drown; to be lost, ruined. ఆ పని ముణుగుతూ తేలుతూ ఉన్నది that affair is still in uncertainty. నాకేమిన్ని ముణిగిపోలేదు it is no loss to me. నాసొమ్ము ముణిగిపోయినది my money is lost. ముణక muṇaka. n. Immersion, submersion. నీళ్లలో ముణుగుట. ఒకముణకలో వాని ప్రాణము పోయినది he died in one immersion. ముణకరాములు muṇaka-rāmulu. n. A puzzle, hesitation, being at a loss. ఎటుతోచనిస్థితి. ఇంతలో పులికి ముణకరాములయినది the tiger was now at bay. ముణకరాములుగానుంటిని I was in a fix. ముణిగించు muṇiginṭsu. v. a. To sink, immerse, drown. నీళ్లలో ముణిగి పోవునట్టుచేయు. ముణుగలాగుకొను or ముడుగలాగుకొను muṇuga-lāgu-konu. v. n. To crouch or lie coiled up రవంతచోటులో కాళ్లుచేతులు ముడుచుకొని పండుకొను.

(p. 1093) laṅkiñcu lankintsu. [Tel.] v. a. To join, unite. తగిలించు, చేర్చు. To link or couple together, as two bullocks, పెనవేయు. 'గు౛్జుకోడెలబట్టుకొని ప్రీతిలంకించియుండ లంకియతోడగండుమీరి పారెనక్కోడియల్.' M. XII. iv. 39. To disgrace. అవమానించు. లంకించుకొను lankinṭsu-konu. v. a. To seize, or take by artifice. చెయి చిక్కించుకొను, తంత్రముగా వలలో వేసికొను. లంకె or లంకియ lanke. n. Coupling or tying two animals together. A link, connection. రెండుపశువుల మెడకు తాడుకట్టడము, పెన, కూడిక, సంబంధము, తగులుపాటు, కూర్చడము, సంగము. 'నీకునునాకున్ దైవంబులకెవేసెను.' Vish. vi. 31. ఆ రెండు చెరువులు లంకెలుగానున్నవి those two tanks are connected, lit: are as links. వానికి దుడ్డుకులంకె he is much attached to money. 'భార్గవతలమున భర్గస్వామికి కీలించెద లంకెగకేల్ముణుతలు.' H. iv. 303. లంకె or లంకెమానిసి lanke. n. A slave, vassal. బంటు, దాసుడు. లంకెవలుపు lanke-palupu. n. A tether that ties two animals together. లంకెపాటు lanke-pāṭu. n. Clinging together. ఒకటితోనొకటి కరుచుకొని యుండడము. Connection, తగులము. 'సీ లలనపాదంబున లంకెపాటై యుండి రాజనునేనూపురంబులార.' R. v. 280. లంకెపీట lanke-pīṭa. n. A wooden plank used in linking cattle together. పశువులను పెనవేయుపలక. లంకెపెట్టు or లంకెవేయు lanke-peṭṭu. v. a. To link together, తగులు పరుచు, పెనవేయు.

(p. 1156) vāri vāri. [Skt.] n. Water. జలము, నీళ్లు. వారాశి, వారిరాశి or వారాన్నిధి vārāṣi. n. A collection of waters. The ocean, సముద్రము. 'మోహవారాశిలోన దాముణిగియుండు.' Vema. 393. వారిజము vāri-jamu. n. Lit: The water-born, i.e., a lotus or water lily. పద్మము. వారిదము or వారివాహము vāri-damu. n. A cloud. మేఘము. వారిధి or వారినిధి vāri-dhi. n. The sea. సముద్రము. వారిధికన్య vāri-dhi-kanya. n. Lakshmi, the sea-born goddess. లక్ష్మి.

(p. 1356) sogayu sogayu. [from Skt. సుఖమ్.] v. n. To be bewildered, stupefied, deluded. To languish, fade away; to be charmed or touched with love. మూర్ఛిల్లు. చొక్కు. పరవశమగు, ముణుగు. Stupefaction, పారవశ్యము. adj. Pretty, beautiful, elegant, handsome, nice. అందమైన, సుందరమైన. సొగసుకాడు sogasukāḍu. n. A beau, a handsome man, అందగాడు. A gallant, విటకాడు. సొగసుకత్తె sogasu-katte. n. A belle, a handsome woman. అందగత్తె, విటకత్తె. సొగియు sogiyu. v. n. To be pleasant. ఇంపగు. సొగయించు sogiy-inṭsu. v. n. To be happy. సుఖించు.

(p. 1368) snātakuḍu snātakuḍu. [Skt.] n. A Brahmin who is a householder, duly intiated after completing his studies. వివాహార్థముగా స్నాతకవ్రతము చేయువాడు, స్నానశీలవ్రతుడు, సమావర్తనముచేసి గృహస్థు అయినవాడు. If at the end of this period, he has not acquired a knowledge of the Vedas, he is called వ్రతస్నాతకుడు. If he has acquired this knowledge before the end of the period, he is called విద్యాస్నాతకుడు. If he finishes his studies with the expiration of the period, he is termed ఉభయస్నాతకుడు. స్నాతుడు snātuḍu. n. One who has bathed, స్నానము చేయువాడు, నీళ్లుపోసుకొన్నవాడు.' సుప్నాతులై.' M. XIII. iii. 102. స్నానము snānamu. n. Bathing, ablution, a bath. ముణగడము. కంఠస్నానము bathing all but the head. శిరస్న్సానము bathing the whole body. కటిస్నానము bathing up to the middle. స్నానఘట్టము a bathing place. ప్రాతస్న్సానము a morning bath. అభ్యంగస్నానము bathing after having anointed the head with oil. స్నానమైన తరువాత after bathing. కృతస్నానుడై having bathed. జ్ఞానస్నానము Christain baptism.
