Evils, afflictions, troubles. కడగండ్లు, తిప్పలు. అగచాట్లుపడుచున్నాడు he suffers great distress. నన్ను అగచాట్లు పెట్టినాడు he brought me into trouble. అగచాట్లపోతు agaṭsāṭlapōtu. [Tel.] n. A wretch, a villain. దుష్టుడుగా తిరిగేవాడు. 'చిక్కు బిల్లలు మైనపు తేళ్లు చిక్కుముళ్లు జమిడాకు చిల్కలు తాళ్లపాములకట యగచాట్లపోతనై యాడుకొంటి.' H. iii. 192. అగచాట్లమారి agaṭsāṭlamāri. [Tel.] He who has suffered, a martyr, a sufferer. one who is thoroughly practised. నానాకడగండ్లు పడి తీరినవాడు, ఆరి తీరినవాడు.

(p. 226) kampa kampa. [Tel.] n. A bush of thorns. ముళ్లమండ. కంపకోట kampa-kōṭa. n. A stockade. వెదురుతో గాని పేముతోగాని చేసిన ఆవరణము. కంపగోడ kampa-gōḍa. n. A thorn hedge. కంపజిట్ట kampa-jiṭṭa. n. A name given to a number of small birds of the warbler family (sylviidae) Blyth's Reed-Warbler, Acrocephalus dumetorum. ఎర్రకంపజిట్ట the paddy-field Warbler (Jerd) or the Paddy field Reed-Warbler, Acrocephalus agricola. పెద్దనల్లకంపజిట్ట the Eastern Orphean Warbler, Sylvia Jerdoni. చిన్న నల్లకంపజిట్ట The Indian Lesser White-throated Warbler, Sylvia affinis. అడవికంటజిట్ట or అడవికంపనల్లంచి The Indian Bush-chat, Pratincola maura. (p. 564) tōṭa tōṭa. [Tel.] n. A garden. తోటకాపు, తోటమాలి, తోటవాడు or తోటీడు' a gardener. తోటకూర tōṭa-kūra. n. Greens, garden herbs. The green produce of a garden is divided into ఆకుకూరలు or తోటకూరలు vegetables, the leaf of which is eaten, such as spinach and cabbage: and కాయకూరలు of which the pod, fruit, or head is eaten, such as brinjals, cucumbers, &c. కొయ్యతోటకూర or కొయ్యగూర is the phrase for all such plants as sprout after being cut, like camomile: and పెరుగుతోటకూర is the class of herbs which do not send forth shoots after being cut. తోటకూర is also a particular herb, called Braid in French. Amaranthus Tristis, (Rox. iii. 604.) Amaranthus gangeticus, or Amaranthus oleraccus. పెద్దతోటకూర Amaranthus giganteus. దొగ్గలితోటకూర Amaranthus polygamus. ముళ్లతోటకూర or నల్లదొగ్గలితోటకూర the Pricklly Amaranth, Amaranthus spinosus. ఎర్రకోడిజుట్టు తోటకూర or మయూరశిఖి Celosia cristata (Watts.) సిగ్గనగా తోటకూరవంటిది modesty grows anew in the heart like a cropped herb. తోటకూరవంటి like mere green stuff, i.e., weak, feeble తోటకూరవంటిపని a mere greenherb business. తోటకూరగింజవంటిది small as a mustard seed.

(p. 985) miḍi miḍi. [Tel. from మిడియు.] n. Pride, insolence, మిడిసిపాటు, గర్వము. adj. Proud, insolent, మిడిసపాటుగల. High, raised, ఉన్నతము. మిడిపండ్లు projecting teeth, మిట్టపండ్లు. Sharp, hot, తీక్ష్ణము. మిడిమాధ్యాహ్నము midday, noon. మిడిముళ్లు spurs. మిడికించు miḍi-kinṭsu. v. n. To blink (the eyes), మిణకరించు. 'కమలుమిడికించునుగుడ్లగూబరీతి.' S. iii. 32. blinking like an owl. మిడిగుడ్లు miḍi-guḍlu. n. Large prominent eyes. మిడిగుడ్లవాడు a man with large eyes. మిడిగొను miḍi-gonu. v. n. To glitter, to flash. మెరయు. 'మిడిగొనుపైడిచేకటులు, మేలిమినూలుదండ.' H. iv. 101. మిడినాగు or మిణ్నాగు miḍi-nāgu. n. A springing serpent. The adder. చివుక్కున ఎగిరిపడే సర్పము. మిడిసి మిణ్నాగువలె పడుతాడు he is as proud as a serpent.మిడిపోవు miḍi-pōvu. v. n. To lose brilliance, become blunt, to be spoiled, ౛బ్బుపడు. To become less. To be an exception, తక్కు. To avoid, తొలగు. 'మిగులనొచ్చియు వాడు మిడివోనికడిమి.' HD. i. 2019. మిడినల్లి or మిణ్నల్లి miḍi-nalli. n. A flea. మిడిమేలుపు miḍi-mēlapu. adj. Pragmatic, hot headed, haughty. తలకొట్లమారియైన. తలకొవ్విన. 'అడిగినజీతంబియ్యని మిడిమేలపుదొరనుగొలిచి మిడుకుటకంటెన్. వడిగలయెద్దులగట్టుక మడిదున్నుక బ్రతుకవచ్చు మహిలోసుమతీ.' Sumati Satakam. మిడిమేలము miḍi-mēlamu. n. Insolence, haughtiness, మిడసిపాటు. 'మగువలుమగలని యెరుగడు, మృగములకోరసిలడేమి మిడిమేలమితండగపడుననితలచితిమే.' R. ii. 112. మిడియ miḍiya. n. A word of the Veda, వేద వాక్యము. 'క తలచియపుడందొకింతయు దొలుతటితరవాతి మిడియదోచకమరియె వ్వలనరసినశ్రుతిశబ్దము పలకునకున్ రాక పెగడుపరచినగలకన్.' పర. ii. మిడియు miḍiyu. v. n. To flash or fly off as a chip of wood or a drop of water. ఎగురు. ఆ రాతిచెక్క మిడిసిపడినది the chip of the stone leaped out and fell down. మిడివిల్లు miḍi-villu. n. A pellet bow, ఉండవిల్లు. 'తడియుచుకైతవతరుణియెక్కిన మిడివింటిగతినున్న మెలతలుడాసి.' Dab. 170. మిడిసిపడు miḍisi-paḍu. v. n. To bounce, leap; to be insolent, మిట్టిపడు, త్రుళ్లిపడు. మిడిసిపడి చచ్చినాడు he suddenly fell down dead. మిడిసిపాటు miḍisi-pāṭu. n. Bouncing, exultation, pride, త్రుళ్లుట.

(p. 992) muṇḍlu, muṇḍulu or ముళ్లు munḍlu. [Tel. plu of ముల్లు.] n. Thorns. కంటకములు. ముండులవాన a shower of prickles (discharged by a porcupine, &c.) KP. vi. 9. ముండ్ల munḍla. adj. Thorny, prickly. కంటకమయమైన. ముండ్లకంచె or ముళ్లకంచె munḍla-kanche. n. A prickly-pear fence. ముండ్ల పంది or ములుపంది munḍla-pandi. n. The porcupine, ఏదుపంది. ముండ్లమునై muṇḍla-muste. n. A shrub, the Three lobed Nightshade, Solanum trilobatum. అలర్కము.

(p. 1000) muḍi muḍi. [Tel.] n. A knot. గ్రంధి. A knot of hair, వెండ్రుకలముడి. A knot or joint in wood, చెట్టులోనగువానిబుడిపి. The hump of an ox, ఎద్దు మూపురము. A quarrel, కలహము. A form of a letter written like a knot as మామిడి the letter ్మ నాముడి the letter ్న. తాముడి the secondary form of the letter త. i.e., ్త. An union, joining, సంధి. Also, another form of ముడ్డి. (q. v.) వాడు దానిని ముడిపెట్టుకొన్నాడు he tied the nuptial knot to her, he married her. ముళ్లుకత్తిరించేవాడు a pick-pocket. ఆమె తలముడి వీడినది her hair fell loose, the knot being untied. ముడివిప్పు to untie or open a knot. ఆ దారములో ముళ్లుపడ్డవి that string has formed into knots. ముడివక్కలు unbroken (or whole) areca nuts, గుంటపోకచెక్కలు. బొమలుముడిపెట్టు to knit the eye-brows. ఒకవ్యాజ్యమును ముడివేసి విడిచిపెట్టినాడు he cast a bone of dispute between them. 'పడంతిమది ముడిసడలన్.' Bhadra Parin. iii. 297. దాని మనసనేగ్రంధి వీడునప్పటికి. ముడి muḍi. adj. Closed, వికసింపని. Entire, whole, unbroken, ఖండముకాని. ముడిపూలు unblown flowers. 'ముడిపూలపొట్లముల్.' Illa. ii. 163. ముడి౛ొన్నలు the great millet enclosed in its husk. ముడినువ్వులు sesamum seeds which are not cleaned. ముడిపోక an entire areca nut. ముడిబియ్యము rice that is not well cleaned, చేబియ్యము. ముడికట్టు muḍi-kaṭṭu. n. Certain fees on a crop for the benefit of the landlord. A truss of straw, a sheaf. v. a. To tie a knot. To tie a knot in a man's cloth to remind him that you call upon him to be a witness. అందుగురించి పెద్దలు ముడికట్టినారు our anscestors have laid down this rule or held this doctrine. ముడికాడు muḍi-kāḍu. n. One who ties a knot, one who unites, సంధానముచేయువాడు. ముడికాళ్లు muḍi-kāḷḷu. n. Knock-knees. ముడికాళ్లవాడు a man who is knock-kneed. ముట్టికాళ్లవాడు. ముడికాళ్లది a woman who is knock-kneed. ముడికొక్కు muḍi-kokku. n. A weevil. నంగనాచి. ముడికొను, ముడిగొను or ముడిపడు muḍi-konu. v. n. To be tied in a knot. ముడికొన్న or ముడిగొన్న muḍi-konna. adj. Tied, bound. బద్ధమైన. 'ముడిగొన్న సంసారమోహబంధములు వెడదన్ని సుజ్ఞాని వెడలినమాడ్కి.' DRK. 372. ముడికొలుపు muḍi-kolupu. v. a. To cause to be tied in a knot. ముడిగిబ్బ muḍi-gibba. n. An ox, a bull, ఆబోతు. ముడిపంచె or ముడిబట్ట muḍi-panche. n. A plain cotton cloth without any coloured border. నెల్లాగుడ్డ. ముడిపడు or ముడిపడు muḍi-paḍu. v. n. To be tied in a knot, ముడిగలదియగు. To be united, సంధించు. To be entangled, పెనగొను. To be confounded, puzzled. చీకాకుపడు. 'ముడిపడెననియెడదంజిడి, ముడిపడకుడు.' N. vii. 312. 'మొగమున చీకట్లుముడివడ.' HD. ii. 1380. (p. 1010) mulu Same as ముల్లు (q. v.) adj. Thorny. ములుకత్తి mulu-katti. n. A short knife used for removing thorns. ములుకోల or మునికోల mulu-kōla. n. A goad, ఎడ్లనుపొడిచేకోల. ములుగోగు mulu-gōgu. n. A plant, Hibiscus suratensis. ములుగొలిమిడి mulu-golimiḍi. n. A plant bearing a dark black flower, Copparis spinosa. కోకిలాక్షము, ఇక్షురము. ములుగోరంట mulu-gōranṭa. n.
