Hot, warm. ఉష్ణమైన. వేడినీళ్లు, వేణ్నీళ్లు or వేనీళ్లు hot water. వేడికంటి vēḍi-kanṭi. n. Lit: the hot-eyed; an epithet of Siva. వేడిమి vēḍimi. n. (p. 1232) vyatīpātamu vy-atī-pātamu. [Skt.] n. The seventeenth of the astrological Yogas, ఒకగ్రహయోగము, పంచాంగయోగభేదము. A portent, a prodigy indicating calamity, as a comet, earthquake, &c. అత్యుత్పాతము, ఉపద్రవము. Applied figuratively to a naughty, troublesome, mischievous child. Contempt, అనాదరము. Fleeing from a battle, యుద్ధమున వెనుదీయుట. ఒరేపోరా వ్యతీపాత go along, you fool! 'అలుకహిమరశ్మినిజకిరణాళినించి యామహాతాపమణగింప నప్పుడుష్ణశీత సంయోగమునన వ్యతీపాతసమజ్ఞ బొడమెనొక్కడు ముజ్ఝగంబులువడంక.' (p. 1349) sūryuḍu sūryuḍu. [Skt.] n. The sum. భాస్కరుడు. సూర్యకాంతము sūrya-kāntamu. n. The sun-gem tourmaline, అదిత్యశిల, సూర్యరశ్మితగులుటచేట నిప్పుకలిగెడు ఒక విధమైన రాయి. A well known medicinal herb. సూర్యకాంతిపుష్పము or సూర్యావర్తము sūrya-kānti-pushpamu. n. The sun-flower. Helianthus annuuṣ. పొద్దుతిరుగుడుపువ్వు. సూర్యపటము Same as సూరపటము. (q. v.) సూర్యపాను sūrya-pānu. n. A triangular perpendicular paraso or fan, resembling a fire screen. See సురేపాను. సూర్యపుటము sūrya-puṭamu. n. Exposure to the sun. ఎండబెట్టడము. సూర్యపుటముపెట్టు to inspissate fluid medicines or extracts by exposure to the sun. సూర్యపుత్రుడు sūrya-putruḍu. n. The son of Hellus: an epithet of Ṣani, of Yama and the Varuna. శనిగ్రహము, యముడు, వరుణుడు. సుర్యప్రభ sūrya-prabha. n. The disc or orb of the sun; also a vehicle or seat with a gift aureole, సూర్యబింబము, ఒక దేవత వేంచేయు సూర్యాకారమైన వాహనము. సూర్యవాద్యము sūrya-vādyamu. n. A tambourine or small double tabor. పాగామీద కట్టుకొనివాయించే సూర్యాకారమైన చర్మవాద్యము.

(p. 1359) sōku sōku. [Tel.] v. n. To touch, come in contact with. To be communicated by contagion, to affect or catch, as a distemper. తాకు, తగులు. To be possessed by a demon, to be affected by the evil influence of stars or demons, గ్రహమావేశించు. n. Touching. A touch, contact; a sensation, తాకుట, స్పర్శము. A blow, దెబ్బ, పోటు. An evil spirit, a demon, రాక్షసుడు, పిశాచము. 'నవ్వెదనీమేన నాటింతునాసోకు.' N. ix. 409. 'మూర్ధాభిషిక్తుండు సోకోర్చియిల కుదగునలజళ్లుదీర్చి.' A. iv. 335 'కుమారశిలీము. ఖాళి సోకులనిజగృత్పటల్ విరిసి.' P. iv. 142. దీనిమీద ఎండ సోకుచున్నది it is exposed to the sun. గాలి సోకకుండా ఉండు to be screened from the wind's touch. 'నిప్పు సోకినక్రియ.' Ellana. i. 252. 'పరుసముసోకిన బంగారమైనట్టు.' Vema. 504. 'కమలాప్తుని రశ్మి సోకి కమలినభంగిన్.' ib. 1434. నా మాటలు వాని చెవిని సోకలేదు my words did not reach or enter his ears. ఆ దెబ్బ వానికి సోకలేదు the blow did not hit him. దానికి గాలి సోకినట్లున్నది she appears to have been touched by a demon. సోకుచుక్క the constellation called మూలనక్షత్రము. సోకుటొ౛్జ sōku-ṭ-oḍzḍza. n. The teacher of the Asuras, దైత్యగురువు, శుక్రుడు. సోకుడు sōkuḍu. n. Touching, స్పర్శము. An evil spirit. పిశాచము. An Asura or demon, రాక్షసుడు.
