(p. 183) egu egu. [Tel. for ఎగువ or ఎగురు] adj. High ఎత్తైన. ఎగుబుజములు high or strong shoulders. ఎగుబోద a new fledged bird రెక్కలువచ్చి యెగరగల పక్షిపిల్ల. ఎగుచు eguṭsu. v. a. To run after, to chase తరుము. ఎగుడు eguḍu. adj. Up ఉన్నతము. ఎగుడుదిగుడు eguḍu-diguḍu. Up and down, backwards and forwards. ఈ దోవ ఎగుడుదిగుడుగానున్నది this road is uneven. ఎగుడుదిగుడు నేల uneven ground. ఎగుడుదిగుడుమాటలు incoherent words. అసంగతమైన మాటలు. వాడు చెప్పేది యేమో యెగుడు దిగుడుగానున్నది he shuffled, or spoke incoherently.

(p. 257) kalahaṃsa or కలహంసము kala-hamsa. [Skt.] n. A swan with reddish beak, legs and wings ధూమ్రవర్ణములైన ముక్కు కాళ్లు రెక్కలుగల హంస. A king swan రాజహంస. The best of kings రాజశ్రేష్ఠుడు.

(p. 267) kāki kāki. [Tel. lit that which says kā, kā.] n. A crow. అడవికాకి the jungle crow or Corvus macrorhynchus. మంచి కాకి or ఊరకాకి the Indian house crow, corvus splendens. (F.B.I.) This word sometimes denotes depreciation as కాకి బంగారు false gold, tinsel. కాకిదొండపండు the wild cherry. దేశకాకి, or దేశమ్మకాకి a wandering wretch or vagrant. సముద్రపుకాకి an osprey. నీరుకాకి a cormorant. ఇనుపముక్కు కాకి the giant vulture or king of the vultures. మూలకాకి a raven. బొంతకాకి a raven. కాకిచంపు విత్తులు kāki-champu-vittulu. Same as కాకమారి (q. v.) కాకిచావు kāki-ṭsāsu. n Apoplexy, sudden death. కాకిచిప్ప kaki chippa. n. A bivalve shell. కాకిచెమ్మలు or కాకితీపు or కాకిసోమాల or కాకిసొమ్మ kāki-chemmalu. n. Fainting, epilepsy. కాకబాతు kāki-bātu. n. A brown species of wild duck. కాకిరెక్కలు kāki-rekkalu. n. The grain called millet. కాకివెదురు kāki-veduru. n. A reed.

(p. 424) cīma chīma. [Tel.] n. An ant. కొండచీమ. the forest ant. రెక్కలచీమ a winged ant. పారేచీమను వింటాడు he can hear an ant crawl, i.e., he is all alive. చీమదూరని అడవి a forest impervious even to an ant. చలిచీమ a black ant; పై పారేపక్షి కిందపారే చీమ (proverb) The bird above, the ant below, i.e., I had no chance with him. చీమంత of the size of an ant. చీమపులి chīma-puli. n. The ant lion, an ant-eater.

(p. 507) tapatapa tapa-tapa. [Tel. (anuk)] n. A fluttering sound. రెక్కలుకొట్టుకొనుటయంద గుధ్వని తపతపమనుచు being in trouble: showing signs of distress.

(p. 521) tāṭiñcu tāṭinṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To flutter, wriggle or flounder: to mouth or move the cheeks in munching. కుక్క చెవులు తాటించినది the dog cocked his ears. పక్షి రెక్కలు తాటించినది the bird fluttered its wings. కాళ్లుతాటించు to kick. v. a. To pat or beat softly, to strike, as a breeze; to slap, buffet. కొట్టు.

(p. 788) peḍa peḍa. [Tel.] adj. Large. పెద్ద. Hinder, back, behind. వెనుకటి. Wrong, erroneous, audacious, విపరీతము. పెడయుక్తులు wicked devices. పెడతల the back of the head, తలవెనుకటిభాగము. పెడకోరికలు wrong wishes. పెడదారి a wrong way, తప్పుదారి. పెడచెయ్యి the back of the hand, మీజెయ్యి. సెడర్థము a wrong sense. పెడబొబ్బలు a dreadful yell. పెడకచ్చ the back tuck of the modesty piece. పెడరెక్కలు విరిచికట్టు to pinion. పెడక peḍaka. n. H. iv. 171. పెడకట్టె or పెడసరకట్టె peda-katte. n. A stubborn person, మూర్ఖుడు, మూర్ఖురాలు. పెడకట్లు peḍa-katlu. n. Tying the hands behind the back, చేతులను వెనుకకు విరిచికట్టుట పెడకాలు peḍa-kālu. n. A leg folded backwards, వెనుకకు మడిచినకాలు పెడకేలు peḍa-kēlu. n. An arm bent backwards. పెడకేలుకట్టు peḍakēlu-kaṭṭu. v. a. To pinion, పెడరెక్కలు విరిచికట్టు. 'పెడకేలుగట్టిన ప్రియసుతు గాంచి.' SD. v. 419. పెడచెవి peḍa-chevi. n. The back part of the ear, చెవివెనుకటిభాగము. నామాటలు పెడచెవిని బెట్టినాడు he turned a deaf ear to my words. పెడనెల peḍa-nela. n. A clever or skilful man, తీర్పరి (obsolete.) పెడబాయు peḍa-bāyu. v. n. To be separated, ఎడబాయు. 'వల్లభులు ప్రాణవిభుంబెడబాయనేర్తురే.' Parij. iv. 60. పెడబాపు peḍa-bāpu. v. a. To separate, &c. ఎడబాపు. M. Very, greatly, much, vastly, extremely, excessively, too much, more than. మిక్కిలి అవాస్తవమైన utterly false. మిక్కిలి రహస్యముగా very secretly. గోడలు మిక్కిలి పడిపోయినవి the walls are ruined. మిక్కిలివాడు mikkili-vāḍu. n. a great person, అధికుడు. (p. 1078) riṅgu ringu. [Tel.] n. The flutering of wings. పక్షిపక్షాదిధ్వని, రెక్కలగాలి చప్పుడు. రింగులు ringulu. n. plu. The ends of a garment. చెంగులు, వస్త్రపుకుచ్చెళ్లు. 'బలువైనవిలువచే జలు వైనసన్నంపు వలువ రింగులుగా గవారగట్టి.' Raja Sēkhara. i. 24. 'పులితోలు విడిపించి జిలుగుదువ్వలువ రింగులు వల్లెవాటుమై కొలుపవచ్చు.' R. ii. 109.

(p. 1081) ruppu or రువ్వు ruppu. [Tel.] v. To fling, toss, throw. విసిరివేయు. n. A fluttering noise, రెక్కలగాలిచప్పుడు. A sudden noise caused by anything that falls down, కూలుటవల్ల గలుగుధ్వని. రువ్వుయిలుగు ruvvu-y-ilugu. n. A kind of bird.

(p. 1084) rekka rekka. [Tel.] n. A wing, పక్షము. Also, any thing resembling a wing as the shoulder blade, or a leaf of a door. పోసరెక్కలు pieces of smoked fish. అంచరెక్కలసె౛్జ a downy bed. రెక్కలతలుపు a door which has two leaves, a folding door. రెక్కలాగుననున్నది she is very slender. పెడరెక్కలు విరిచికట్టు to pinion a man. రెక్కలువిరిగిన పక్షి a bird with broken wings, i.e., a helpless person. రెక్కచాపు rekka-ṭsāpu. n. A long cloth, containing an under and an upper garment. దోవతిని ఉత్తరీయమును కలిగి యుండునది. రెక్కపాయలు or రెక్కపాలలు rekka-pāyalu. n. A sort of grain. H. iv. 157.

(p. 1185) viricikaṭṭu virichi-kaṭṭu. [Tel.] v. a. To pinion (a man) or tie his arms behind his back. పెడరెక్కలుకట్టు, చేతులను వెనుకకు మళ్లించికట్టు. n. The act of pinioning a man, చేతులను వెనుకకు మరలించికట్టుట.

(p. 1267) s sa. T. iv. 193. సంలక్షణము classical, beautiful, handsome, లక్షణయుక్తమైన, అందమైన, సలక్షణమైనపడుచు a handsome girl. సలలితము beautiful, lovely. 'సలితకళానిధి.' T. Pref. 87. సవిస్తారముగా at full length, extensively, with all the particulars, completely, to the full, వివరముగా. సవినయముగా respectfully. సవినయుడై modestly. సహిరణ్యోదకపూర్వకముగా entirely; (lit. with money and water) - a phrase used in making gifts. సహృదయుడు a good hearted man. సహేతుకము reasonable, well grounded. కారణముతోగూడిన. సహేతుకముగా with the reason or the grounds, కారణసహితముగా. సాకూతము significant, అభిప్రాయసహితమైన. సాకూతస్మితము a wanton glance. A. iv. 41. సానుకూలము favour or kindness, success, ఉపకారము. ఆ పని వానికి సానుకూలమైన తరువాత when he succeeded in that affair. అది సానుకూలముకాక పోయినది it did not succeed. సానుకూలము favourable, kind, ఉపకారమైన. సానుకూలమైన మాట favourable word. సానుకూలముగా favourably, kindly, ఉపకారముగా. సాపత్న్యము the condition of a co-wife, the state of being or having a rival wife, సపత్నీభావము, సవతితనము. 'నీకనుపమసాపత్న్య సంపాదనంబు.' A. ii. 24. 'సాపత్న్యమునను గాకసైరింపగలదెయేకడపపత్నీ.' N. iii. 122. సాపత్న్యుడు an enemy, శత్రువు; the son of a co-wife. సుపత్నీపుత్రుడు. సాపరాధి a culprit, offender, sinner, he who is guilty, నేరస్థుడు. సావకాశము leisure, spare time, an interval, తీరిక, వ్యవధానము. సావధానముగా carefully, diligently, attentively, with due heed, జాగ్రతతో.

(p. 1299) samakaṭṭu sama-kaṭṭu. [Skt.+Tel.] v. n. To get ready, to try, attempt. యత్నపడు. యత్నించు v. a. To prepare, make ready, సిద్ధపరుచు. To arrange, ఏర్పరుచు. To make, చేయు. The river Ganges, గంగ. సీతారామర్పణముగా చేసినదానము a gift made in the sacred names of Sīta and Rāma, a solemn gift. సీతకాటుకలు sīta-kāṭukalu. n. plu. (Lit. white and black) A sort of rice. ధాన్యభేదము. సీతమ్మ పురుగునూలు sīt-amma-purugu-nūlu. n. A certain parasitical plant, Cuscuta reflexa. వానకాలములో పొదలమీద అల్లుకొనే ఒకతీగ. సీతాకోకచిలక sītā-kōka-chilaka. n. A butterfly. చిత్రవిచిత్రమైన వర్ణములును ఏనుగుచెవులవలె పెద్దరెక్కలునుగల ఒక పురుగు. సీతాఫలము sītā-phalamu. n. The white custard apple, Annona squamosa, గండగాత్రము. సీతాభోగములు sītā-bhōgamulu. n.
