(p. 34) aḍapaṭṭe aḍapaṭṭe. [Tel.] n. A board used for smoothing a ploughed field after the grain is sown: in effect corresponding with a roller. పొలములో విత్తనము విత్తి, మిట్ట పల్లము లేకుండా సరదడమునకై యెడ్లనుకట్టి తోలే మాను, దిండు.

(p. 60) anyāyamu a-nyāyamu. [Skt.] n. Injustice, wrong. అనీతి, అధర్మము, అన్యాయార్జితధనము ill gotten wealth. ఇదేమి అన్యాయము what a shame this is! అన్యాయము adj. Unjust, wrong. నీతిలేని, అధర్మమైన. అన్యాయముగా adv. Unjustly, wrongfully. ఆధర్మముగా, నీతి లేకుండా. అన్యాయస్థుడు n. An unjust man, a sinner. దుర్నీతుడు.

(p. 74) amāni amānī. [H.] Land in charge of a revenue collector on the part of the government, as distinguished from that which is farmed out. అమానీగ్రామములు villages under the immediate care of a collector. ఆముఠా అమానీ అయిన తరువాత after the land was taken into the collector's own charge. ఆశ్రోత్రియమును అమానీదాఖలు చేసుకొన్న తరువాత after the land held on private tenure was taxed. అమానిభూములు Crown lands, lands that are in the hands of a collector on behalf of Government. అమానీబాజీబాబు sundry farms under a Collector's management. పన్ను లేకుండా మేడిపాలు ఇచ్చే భూమి.

(p. 218) ōra ōra. [Tel.] n. The side, border, edge. అంచు. A whole day and night అహోరాత్రము. ఒక ఓరను ఉంటిమి we stood on one side. ఓరగా sidelong, sideways. తలుపోరగా చేసెor ఓరవాకిలి చేసినది she opened the door a little, or, set it a jar. ఓరబోయి becoming crooked వంకరపోయి. BD. vi. ఓరచూపు ōra-ṭsūpu. n. A sidelong glance. బెళుకుటోర యొయారపు చూపు leeringly. ఓరంతపొద్దు ōranta-poddu. (ఓర+అంత+ప్రొద్దు) the livelong day, all day long, దినమంతయు, ఆసాయము. Also, a little రవంత, ఇసుమంత. 'ఉప్పులేకుండన నోరంతప్రొద్దు చప్పిడితాగిన సాగునే కాళ్లు? రాలేకొదుగబడి రాకయున్నాడు.' Pal. 316.

(p. 641) nāgā nāgā. [H.] n. Nought, nothing; a cipher; intermission. Remainder. నాగాలేకుండా without fail, without intermission or remainder.

(p. 654) nimittamu nimittamu. [Skt.] n. A cause, reason, motive, mark, sign, token, omen. హేతువు, చిహ్నము, గురి, శకునము, దుర్నిమిత్తము a bad omen. As an affix: Respecting, regarding, on account of, because of. అందునిమిత్తము for that reason, therefore ఉప్పునిమిత్తము పోయినది she is gone for salt. ఆ యాస్తికిని నాకును నిమిత్తము లేకుండా చేసినారు they cut me off from the estate. దీన్ని అడగడమునకు నీకేమి నిమిత్తము what business have you to ask this? అతని దర్శననిమిత్తమై పోతిని I went to visit him. నిమిత్తముమాలినపని an unreasonable act. నిమిత్తముమాలినమాట a groundless assertion. నానిమిత్తమై నీవు కొంచెము ప్రయాసపడవలెను you must take a little trouble for me, or on my account.

(p. 714) parāpēkṣa par-āpēksha. [Skt.] n. Dependence on the aid of others. ఈ పనిని పరాపేక్ష లేకుండా చేసినాడు he did this work himself without any help.

(p. 771) purugu or పురువు purugu. [Tel.] n. A worm, any insect or reptile that has no wings. క్రిమి, కీటకము. గుల్లపురుగు a shell fish. వారి పురుగు లేకుండా చేసినాడు he exterminated them. వాడు చెడు పురుగు he is a vile wretch. పురుగుపట్టిన infested with insects, decayed.

(p. 801) pondu or ఒందు pondu. [Tel.] v. n. To wink, (కన్ను) వాలు. To gain, obtain, get, acquire. To reach, attain to. To have, enjoy. To suffer, experience, meet with joy, grief or death, &c. ప్రాపించు. వానిని లక్ష్మిపొందినది good luck has be fallen him. అవమానమును పొందినాడు he incurred disgrace. సంతోషమును పొందినాడు he was pleased. నష్టమును పొందినాడు he incurred loss. విఘ్నమొందక meeting with no obstacle or cheek. నరకమును పొందినాడు he fell into hell. కన్నుపొందు to sleep. 'ఆ కడుపు నిండగుడువ గానమిరేయెల్ల, గన్నుపొందకున్న కరముడస్సి, యున్నవాడనాకు.' M. I. vi. 322. కన్నుపొందకున్న, అనగా నిద్రలేకుండా ఉండడముచేత. Also, to have intercourse with. కలయు. n. Fitness. suitability, agreement. పొందిక intercourse, friendship, స్నేహము. Joining, union, సంధి. The act of obtaining a thing ప్రాప్తి. Sameness, want of difference, అభేదము. Agreeableness, అనుకూల్యము. adj. Friendly, స్నేహితుడు. 'రాలపొందెరింగి రాలగూర్చినభంగిలోను పొందెరింగిలోనుపరచి.' Vēma. 637. పొందుకాడు ponḍu-kāḍu. n. A friend, స్నేహితుడు. పొందుకొను pondu-konu. v. n. To be fixed or established, నెలకొను. పొందుపడు pondu-paḍu. v. n. To be agreeable or fit, సరిపడు, అనుకూలించు. పొందుపాటు ponda-pāṭu. n. Convenience, suitability, aid, help. వానికి ఆ రూకలు పొందుపాటు కాలేదు he could not get the money. పొందుపాటుచేయు to arrange, అనుకూలముచేయు. పొందించు pondinṭsu. To cause to obtain, get, or experience. నన్ను ఈ శ్రమ పొందించినారు they caused me this trouble. 'మగువత నంబునజగముల తగులము బొందింప గొంతదడవెముకుందా.' B. viii. 446. పొందిక pondika. n., Fitness, agreement, aptness. ఇమిడిక. Intercourse, సహవాసము, కలయిక. 'సీతాకాంతముని స్త్రీల పొందిక లుమరగి.' R. v. 59.

(p. 812) polakuva polakuva. [Tel.] n. A trace, ౛ాడ. వాని యింట్లో కత్తిఅనే పొలుకువలేదు there were no signs of a knife in his house, there was not such a thing as a knife in his house. వారి పొలకువ లేకుండా చేసినాడు he exterminated them.

(p. 821) pōlu pōlu. [Tel.] v. n. To be fit or agreeable. ఒప్పు, తగియుండు. To be proper, యుక్తమగు. To be possible, శక్యమగు. This word is added to infinitives. చేయబోలునె can it be done? The neg. is పోలదు; thus, అట్లా చేయపోలదు or తగదు it is not proper to do so. ఉండబోలును perhaps they are there, ఉన్నవేమో. 'తెగువయదేవేంద్రపదవియనదగు బుద్ధిజనింపబోలుతరుణీనీకున్.' H. i. 140. v. a. To resemble, to be like, సరిపోలు. n. Resemblance, similarity, సామ్యము. పోలుపొందులేకుండా మాట్లాడు or తలా తోకలేకుండా మాట్లాడు to talk without rhyme or reason. పోలె pōle. adv. Like. రామునిపోలె like Rama. పోలమి pōl-ami. n. Dissimilarity, unlikeness. పోలించు, పోలుచు or పోల్చు pōlinṭsu. v. a. To compare, or liken. పోలజేయు. పోలిక, పోలికి or పోల్కి pōlika. n. Resemblance, likeness.

(p. 1041) moragu or మొరంగు moragu. [Tel.] v. n. To hide. దాగు, పొంచు. v. a. To delude the eyes, to deceive, వంచించు, దాచు, మరుగుచేయు. కనుమొరుగు to wink, to connive at, to shut the eyes. 'మొరగినిదురించుచో. నిది తరియగుటం జంపబోయెదం బదమనుచున్.' P. iii. 243. టీ మొరగి, కనుమరుగై. 'వీడగ డువబారనేలకువెలిగాగ నడుగువెట్టితిరుగనాత్మమొరగి, యొకటి దలపనరుల కొదవినొదవదే, కరణిమృత్యుదేవికన్నుబ్రామ.' Swa. iv. 146. టీ ఆత్మ మొరగి, మనస్సునువినాచేసి, మనస్సునకు ఎరుకులేకుండా. n. Hiding, concealment; delusion, deception, వంచన. One who deceives, a cheat, వంచకుడు. adj. Deceptive, cheating, వంచకుడైన.

(p. 1047) mōra mōra. [Tel.] n. The projecting face of animals. Phiz, a word of contempt for face, మూతి. (నిందయందు) మనుష్యముఖము. మోరచ్చుచెప్పులు shoes put on the wrong way so as to deceive those who trace the wearer. చనుమోరలు the tips of the breasts. కటుమోరలు the cheek bones. 'ఓడకముందర నొకసారమేయంబు మొరుగుచునున్నది మోర యెత్తి.' B. 1. §. 14. 7. మోరపలుపు the head stall. మోరకొట్టులు mōra-koṭṭulu. plu. Rebukes. మూతితోకొట్టడము. S. i. 490. మోరటిల్లు or మోరటిలు mōraṭillu. v. n. To turn the face upwards, మోముమీదికెత్తు. మోరతోపు, మోరత్రోపు or మోరతోపుతనము mōra-tōpu. n. Aversion, turning away or averting the face. మూతులుతిప్పడము, పరాఙ్ముఖత్వము. A hut thatched with leaves, దూలములులేకుండా గడ్డి తాటాకులతో కట్టినది. A temporary slied, ఓరపాక.

(p. 1093) laṅkaṇamu lankaṇamu. [for Skt. లంఘనము.] n. A day passed without eating any food when one is attacked with fever and other diseases. జ్వరము మొదలైన రోగములు వచ్చినప్పుడు ఆహారములేకుండా ఉండేదినము, ఉపవాసము.

(p. 1093) laṅghanamu langhanamu. [Skt.] n. Going over, leaping, springing, jumping over or beyond, transgressing, going beyond proper bounds. ప్లవనము, దాటడము. Fasting, asbtinence, a day passed without food when one is attacked with fever, &c. అభోజనము,రోగి భోజనములేకుండా ఉండడము, లంకణము. లంఘి langhi. n. A transgressor. అతిక్రమించినది.' కన్నుగవశ్రుతిలంఘియైకలిమిగులుక.' Ila. i. 3. లంఘించు langhinṭsu. v. n. & a. To pass, or cross over, leap, jump. దాటు, దూకు.
