A sweaty cloth. The glove worn by falconers, for the hawk to perch on. చెమరుపోతు or చెమటగొట్టు chemaru-pōtu. n. One who perspires profusely మిక్కిలి చెమటగలవాడు. చెమర్చు, చెమరించు, చెమ్మరించు or చెమటపోయు or చెమటపట్టు chemarṭsu. v. n. To sweat, to perspire. చెమరు. chemaru. n. Moisture, oozing. v. n. To sweat, to ooze.

(p. 692) pakṣamu pakshamu. [Skt.] n. A side, flank. పక్క. A wing, as being the side of a bird. రెక్క. The feather of an arrow. A side or party. Bias of mind, partiality. A fortnight, as one half of the month. An argument, position or assertion. A hypothesis. పూర్వపక్షము a refutation. A class, or tribe. A group or multitude, సమూహము. కేశపక్షము a lock of hair. అతని పక్షమున on his behalf, behoof or favour. ఆ పక్షమందు in that case, on that supposition, supposing so, provided it be so. ఇట్లుచెప్పే పక్షమందు if he says so, upon his saying this. మొదటిపక్షమందు on the first supposition. పక్షకము pakshakamu. n. A back door. దిడ్డివాకిలి. పక్షతి pakshati. n. The first lunar day of either the dark or bright fortnight, పాడ్యమి. The root of a wing, రెక్క మొదలు, పక్షద్వారము pakshadvāramu. n. A back door, a side door. దిడ్డివాకిలి. పక్షపాతము paksha-pātamu. n. Leaning to one side, i.e., partiality. ఒక పక్క కొరుగుట. అక్షరపక్షపాతము love of learning. పక్షపాతి paksha-pāti. n. One who is partial. పక్షాంతరము pakshāntaramu. n. An alternative. ఈ పక్షము కూడనందున పక్షాంతరము చెప్పెదను this view of the question or hypothesis not answering, I shall explain the alternative or the other side. వాడు పక్షాంతరమును అవలంబించినారు they adopted another view. పక్షి pakshi. n. A bird. A poor wretch. A miserable destitute object. పక్షులు poor wretches. నేను పక్షివంటివాడను or నేనొక పక్షిని I am as helpless or desolate as a homeless bird. పక్షిణి pakshiṇi. n. T. iii.86. 119. పేరురము a broad breast. పేరెలుగెత్తి పలికిరి they spoke aloud. R. v. 220. పేరంగద a great misfortune, మహత్తైన ఆపద. పేరెలమి great joy. M. XIII. i. 242. పేరుంగరము pēr-ungaramu. n. A ring with one's name cut on it, a signet ring, పేరుచెక్కిన ఉంగరము, సిఖాఉంగరము. పేరు or పేరుకొను pēru. v. n. Calling one by his name, &c. పేరు గ్రుచ్చు or పేరుకూర్చు pēru-gruṭsṭsu. v. a. To call one by his name, పేరుపెట్టిపిలుచు. To tell to say, to mention. చెప్పు, ఉదహరించు. పేర or పేరట pēra. adv. In the name of, in one's name. By name. నా పేరట వ్రాసినాడు he wrote to my name, i.e., wrote to me. నా పూర్వులపేరట పుట్టినమాన్యము a grant made to my ancestors. తల్లి పేరట ఒక పల్లె కట్టెను he built a village in his mother's name. In translation into English we omit 'name.' దినాలపేరట in course of time. పేరి pēri. adj. Named, by name, videlicet, id est. పేరుగల, 'శాంత పేరికాంతాలలామ' a woman named Sānta. R. ii. 139. పేరిటి pēriṭi. adj. Directed to, bearing the superscription of, as అతని పేరిటి౛ాబు a letter for you. నీపేరటివాడు a man bearing your name. పేరుపెట్టు pēru-peṭṭu. v. n. To name, to give newly a name or appellation. పేర్వేర pēr-vēra. adv. Name by name. ప్రతిమనిషియొక్కయును పెరుపెట్టి. 'పేర్వేరబొమ్మల పెండ్లిండ్లు సేయుచు నబలలతో డవియ్యంబులందు.' B. X. 1818. (Rukmini kalyan.) పేరడవి pēr-aḍavi. (పేరు+అడవి.) n. A great forest, a wilderness. మహారణ్యము. పేరాముదము pēr-āmudamu. (పేరు+ఆముదము.) n. The large kind of castor oil tree, పెద్దాముదము as opposed to చిట్టాముదము, a smaller species. పేరోలగము pēr-ōlagamu. n. A great court, or assembly. నిండుసభ. పేరుడు pēruḍu. n. The act of congealing, or thickening. పేరుకొనుట, ఘనీభవించుట. పేరుచు or పేర్చు pēruṭsu. v. n. To excel, అతిశయించు, విజృంభించు. To pile, to heap up. To increase, to enlarge: to display. ఒకటిమీద నొఖటిని వరుసగాపెట్టు, విశేషింపజేయు. చితిపేర్చిరి they prepared a funeral pile. 'ఇనుమును రాగియు దగరంబును వెండియు బసిండియును, బ్రభూతములై పేర్చిన సిరిజేయగమోపెడు గనులెడసెడ పెక్కుగలవు శారవనాధా.' M. VI. i.50. పేరుపు or పేర్పు pērupu. n. (p. 801) pondu or ఒందు pondu. [Tel.] v. n. To wink, (కన్ను) వాలు. To gain, obtain, get, acquire. To reach, attain to. To have, enjoy. To suffer, experience, meet with joy, grief or death, &c. ప్రాపించు. వానిని లక్ష్మిపొందినది good luck has be fallen him. అవమానమును పొందినాడు he incurred disgrace. సంతోషమును పొందినాడు he was pleased. నష్టమును పొందినాడు he incurred loss. విఘ్నమొందక meeting with no obstacle or cheek. నరకమును పొందినాడు he fell into hell. కన్నుపొందు to sleep. 'ఆ కడుపు నిండగుడువ గానమిరేయెల్ల, గన్నుపొందకున్న కరముడస్సి, యున్నవాడనాకు.' M. I. vi. 322. కన్నుపొందకున్న, అనగా నిద్రలేకుండా ఉండడముచేత. Also, to have intercourse with. కలయు. n. To be fixed or established, నెలకొను. పొందుపడు pondu-paḍu. v. n. To be agreeable or fit, సరిపడు, అనుకూలించు. పొందుపాటు ponda-pāṭu. n. Convenience, suitability, aid, help. వానికి ఆ రూకలు పొందుపాటు కాలేదు he could not get the money. పొందుపాటుచేయు to arrange, అనుకూలముచేయు. పొందించు pondinṭsu. To cause to obtain, get, or experience. నన్ను ఈ శ్రమ పొందించినారు they caused me this trouble. 'మగువత నంబునజగముల తగులము బొందింప గొంతదడవెముకుందా.' B. viii. 446. పొందిక pondika. n., Fitness, agreement, aptness. ఇమిడిక. Intercourse, సహవాసము, కలయిక. 'సీతాకాంతముని స్త్రీల పొందిక లుమరగి.' R. v. 59.

(p. 807) pottu pottu. [Tel.] n. Friendship, partnership, holding in common. స్నేహము, సహవాసము, విశ్వాసము, ఉమ్మడి, అవిభక్తిత. పోరునష్టి, పొత్తులాభము (proverb) quarrelling is a loss, friendship is a gain. పొత్తునగుడుచు to eat together as messmates, బిగిసిగాతిను. వీధులు అందరికిపొత్తు the streets are free or common to all men. ఆ సరుకులు పొత్తున కొన్నారు they bought the goods between them, or as common stock. ఆ పని పొత్తులుపోక పడవేసిపెట్టినారు the work is left undone because they could not settle which of them should do it, ఆ పని నీదంటే నీదని పడవేసిపెట్టినారు. 'నృపుపొత్తుబాముపొత్తుంగపటుండగు మిత్రుపొత్తుగడుసరిపొత్తుం, విపరీత భార్య పొత్తుం నెపమిది నిడువంగవలయు.' Sumati. 129. 'ఇట్టి అవమానపుపొత్తు మనంగ వచ్చునే.' M. IV. iii. 33. పొత్తులవాడు he in whom both parties have an equal right or interest. ఇద్దరికి సమమైనవాడు. 'ఏనుపొత్తులవాడనై యిరువురకును.' ib. XII. v. 257. adj. Friendly, united, associated. స్నేహితము, సంగతము. పొత్తుకాడు pottu-kāḍu. n. A friend, స్నేహితుడు. పొత్తుకత్తె pottu-katte. n. A female friend. స్నేహితురాలు. పొత్తుగుడుచు pottu-guḍuṭsu. v. n. To avail or come to good. పనికివచ్చు.' సత్యములు పొత్తుగుడుచునా సున్నుతాంగి భళిర సత్యములానలైనచ్చునీకు.' Ila. iv. 21. టీ సత్యములు పొత్తుగుడుచునా, బాసలు కలిసివచ్చునా. పొత్తుగుడుపు pottu-guḍupu. n. Eating together as messmates. పంజ్క్తిభోజనము. పొత్తుచేయు pottu-chēyu. v. n. To make friends with, to cultivate friendship, to associate with, స్నేహము చేయు. పొత్తువు pottuvu. n. An epithet of Sarasvati, సరస్వతి.

(p. 1104) limma limma. [Tel.] n. A twig used as a whisk. మండ. 'వాడొక యంగడిహేయ మెంచక; మునుమున నొక్కమీనమిడి మూగిన యీగల చేతిలిమ్మతో జొనుపుచుదీనిగొండు వెలసొమ్మనియమ్ముచు నున్నవాడనన్.' Chenna. iv. 344.

(p. 1126) vaḍḍiñcu vaḍḍinṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To help at meals, to serve up a meal. అన్నమిడు. వాడన్నమాటలను నీకునీవే యేల వడ్డించుకొంటున్నావు why do you take his words to yourself? 'అనుకయపకపకనగి యవ్వనజుడను నీకునీవె వడ్డించుకొనన్ జనునే.' Ahal. ii. 46. 'అతివవడ్డింపదివ్యాన్నమారగించి.' Ila. ii. 11. వడ్డన or వడ్డెన vaḍḍana. n. Serving out, or helping food. ఇడడము, వడ్డించడము. వడ్డనఅయినది dinner is served. రెండవవడ్డన the second course.

(p. 1226) vēṣamu or వేశము vēshamu. [Skt.] n. Dress, garb, habit, a fashion or manner of dress, costume, a disguise or guise. వస్త్రభూషణాదులు అలంకరించుకొనడదము. మారువేషము a false garb, a disguise. 'తక్షకుండునగ్నవేషధరుడై.' M. 1. i. 151. వేషమువేయు to put on a disguise. కృష్ణవేషమువేసినాడు or కట్టినాడు he dressed or disguised himself as Krishna. తలనొప్పిగా నున్నదని వేషమువేసినాడు he feigned a head-ache. వేషగాడు vēsha-gāḍu. n. An actor: an impostor, వేషములువేసేవాడు. వేషధారి vēsha-dhāri. n. A person in disguise, a hypocrite, an impostor, మారువేషమువేసుకొన్నవాడు. వేషాలమారి vēshāla-māri. n.
