(p. 1107) lē lē. [Tel.] The base of the negative forms లేక, లేని, లేదు, &c. లేక lēka. past participle of లేదు. Not being, not being present, without, wanting. అతడు అక్కడ లేకపోవుటవల్ల by his not being there. వానికి రూకలు లేకపోవుటవల్ల by being in want of money. దాన్ని అణిచేవారులేక యిట్లు విడబడి తిరిగినది she played these pranks as there was no one to check her. కూటికిలేక being in want of food. When added to the infinitive, it means Unable. రాలేక unable to come. దానిని చూడలేక unable to look at it, unable to bear the sight of it. లేకుండ or లేకుండా lēk-unḍā. is used in much the same way as లేక; e.g. అతడు లేకుండ నావల్లకాదు I cannot do it without him లేకుండాచేయు lēk-unḍā-chēyu. v. a. To do away, to get rid of, to turn out. నివృత్తిచేయు. వారిని ఆ యింటిలోలేకుండా చేయుము turn them out of the house. అది వాడు ఇవ్వనక్కరలేకుండా చేస్తిని I relieved him from the necessity of giving it. లేకుండు lēk-unḍu. v. n. To be absent, to be wanting. లేడు lēḍu. He is not; he is not present. ఇంటిలోలేడు he is not in the house. చేయలేడు he cannot do it. వీక్షంపగలేడయ్యె. he could not behold it. లేదా lēdā. It it not? or, or else. అది అక్కడ లేదా is it not there? లేదు lēdu. It is not. అది అక్కడ లేదు. it is not there. లేనట్టు lēn-aṭṭu. As if it is not అతడు లేనట్టున్నది it appears he is not there. అతడు లేనట్టు తెలిసి knowing that he was not there. లేని lēni. adj. Devoid of. తెలివిలేనివాడు he who is devoid of sense. వాడు నోరులేనివాడు he is a dumb creature, a mere fool. తప్పులేని faultless. దోవలేని అడవి a pathless forest. వెలలేనిమాణిక్యము a priceless gem. లేనిపోనిపని nonsense, a fool's errand. లేనిపోనిసౌఖ్యములు vain deluding joys. లేనిమాటలు slanders, falsehoods. లేనిపోనిసాకు a false pretence. పోరులేని పోరుపుట్టె నీప్రొద్దు a dispute arose without cause. 'అదియుగాక రాజ్యమును మహాభూతంబు సోకినప్పు డెట్టిసుజనులకును లేనిచీకుదనములేనిమూగతనము, లేని చెవుడు గొంతయైనకలదు.' K. P. v. 248. లేనివారు the absent; the poor. లేమి lēmi. n. Nullity, not being, absence, want, poverty. కలుగమి, ఉండమి, దారిద్య్రము. 'జనకుడు లేమికింగడువిషాదము నొందె.' M. X. ii. 17. ధనములేమి want of wealth. కలిమిలేములు gains and losses, riches and poverty. లేమిడి lēmiḍi. n. Poverty, want. దారిద్య్రము. లేరు lēru. v. 3rd. pers. plu. They are not. M. V. i. 342. వారు లేరు they are not here. not living. లేవు lēvu. v. (neuter.) They are not.

(p. 1143) vasati vasati. [Skt. from వస్ to dwell.] n. A house, dwelling. ఇల్లు. Convenience. commodiousness, comfort. హాయి, సౌఖ్యము, అనుకూలము. Night, రాత్రి. Also, a pension, an allowance of money, భరణము. వసతి దారుడు a pensioner, a holder of an allowance of rent-free land. A proprietor of land, a landholder. అక్కడ నీళ్లవసతిలేనందున as good water is not easily procurable there. ఆ యిల్లు నిండా వసతిగాలేదు the house is not very convenient. వారికి ఆ గ్రామములో వసతులు ఏర్పరిచినాడు, లేక, ఇచ్చినాడు he granted them a living in that village. వసతిగానుండే vasati-gā-n-unḍē. adj. Convenient, commodious. హాయిగానుండే. అక్కడ నీకు వసతిగా నుంటే దిగు if you find a suitable spot you may halt or put up there.

(p. 1291) sat sat. [Skt.] adj. True, good, virtuous. Excellent, venerable, respectable, pure, holy. యథార్థమైన, ఘనమైన, మంచి, పావనమైన. One verse says 'చదువనివాడజ్ఞుండగు చదివినసదసద్వివేక చతురతగలుగున్.' సత్కర్మము or సత్కార్యము a good deed. అపత్ not good, evil. సత్కవి a good poet, మంచి కావ్యకర్త. సత్పాత్రము worthy, deserving, fit. యోగ్యమైన, అర్హమైన. సత్పాత్రుడు one who is worthy, deserving or fit, అర్హుడు, తగినవాడు. సత్పురుషుడు a good man, మంచివాడు, సత్పథము a good way, మంచిదోవ. The final letter undergoes the usual phonetic changes when the word is used in composition: e.g. సన్మార్గము a good way, సమ్మనీంద్రుడు a holy sage; &c. సచ్చరితుడు a virtuous, honest or upright man, మంచి నడతగలవాడు. సచ్చిదానందము God, as the fountain of being, intelligence, and happiness: lit. 'it that is good, wise, and happy.' నిత్య జ్ఞానానంద స్వరూపపరబ్రహ్మము. సచ్ఛుద్రుడు a pious Sudra, సదాచారముగల శూద్రుడు. సజ్జనత్వము magnanimity, goodness, సభ్యత్వము. సజ్ఞనుడు a respectable man, a good man, సభ్యుడు. సదునష్ఠానము a good practice, సదాచారము. సదమలము pure, spotless, నిర్మలము. సదాచారము virtuous conduct, correct deportment, మంచినడత, సదాచారి a virtuous man. సదాచారులు the wise, the good. సదుత్తరము a proper answer or reply, ప్రతివాక్యము సదుపాయము an excellent means, a good expedient, మంచిసాధనము. సద్గతి beatitude, salvation, future bliss, ముక్తి. 'సద్గతియె చేకురు.' Swa. ii. 80. సద్గుణము virtue, a good quality, సుశీలము. సద్భక్తి true religion, zeal strong faith, fidelity, పూజ్యులయందలి మిక్కిలి అనురాగము. సద్భావము goodness, kindness, politeness, విద్యమానత, దయశిష్టాచారము. సద్వినయము true humility, మంచినమ్రత. సద్వ్యాపారము good behaviour, good conduct, మంచివృత్తి. సద్వ్యాసంగము love of good acts, మంచియిచ్ఛ, సున్నుతము praised, applauded, commended, స్తోత్రము చేయబడ్డ, కొనియాబడ్డ. సన్నుతి sincere praise, commendation, laud. చక్కనిస్తుతి, స్తోత్రము. సన్నుతించు to praise, applaud, commend, చక్కగా స్తోత్రముచేయు, మెచ్చుకొను. సన్మహత్త్వము greatness, urbanity, గొప్పతనము, శ్రేష్ఠత. Chenn. ii. 77. సన్మార్గము good or virtuous conduct, మంచినడత. సన్మార్గి or సన్మార్గుడు one of virtuous conduct, one who behaves well, మంచినడతగలవాడు. 'సన్మార్గికి కలియుగమున సౌఖ్యముగలదే.' G. v. 69. సమ్మని or సమ్మనీంద్రుడు a venerable sage or hermit మహర్షి. M. I. i. 173.

(p. 1338) sukhamu sukhamu. [Skt.] n. Happiness, welfare, health, safety, pleasure, enjoyment, delight. ఆనందము, ఆరోగ్యము, సౌఖ్యము, క్షేమము. Heaven, స్వర్గము. నయనసుఖము the delight of one's eyes, the name of a kind of cloth. adj. Pleasing, delightful, agreeable, comfortable, easy, happy, well, cheerful, healthy. ఆనందమైన, ఆరోగ్యమైన, క్షేమమైన. సుఖసత్కథానినోదంబున నుండగా while he was passing his time agreeably in listening to a pious story. సుఖజీవనము sukha-jīvanamu. n. A prosperous or happy person. కష్టములేక జీవనముచేయువాడు. సుఖ ప్రసవము an easy and safe accouchement. సుఖభోగి one who lives at ease. సుఖభోగులు sukha-bhōgulu. n. A sort of grain. ధాన్యవిశేషము. H. iv. 157. సుఖముగా sukhamu-gā. adv. Happily, safely, in good circumstances. సంతోషముగా, క్షేమముగా, మీ తండ్రి సుఖముగానున్నాడా is your father well? సుఖవాసి or సుఖప్రాణి sukha-vāsi. n. A delicate, luxurious person, one who lives at ease. సుకుమారము గానుండేవాడు. సుఖసంకటము or సుఖరోగము sukha-sankaṭamu. n. (lit. the pains of pleasure) Venereal disease. మండలరోగము. సుఖాసీనుడు sukh-āsīnuḍu. n. One who is seated at his ease. హాయిగా కూర్చున్నవాడు. సుఖి sukhi. n. One who is happy, one who possesses happiness or pleasure, one who is in good health, సుఖముగలవాడు, సుఖించు or సుఖియించు sukhinṭsu. v. n. To be happy, well or at ease; to be glad, rejoice, be comforted. ఆనందించు, హర్షించు.

(p. 1361) saukaryamu saukaryamu. [Skt. from సుకరము.] n. Health, good condition, comfort. స్వస్థత, అనాయాసము. మా అప్పకు ఒళ్లు సౌకర్యములేదు my father is not well. దేహసౌకర్యములేక being unwell. సౌకర్యముగా saukaryamu-gā. adv. In good health, comfortably, ఆరోగ్యముగా, కుదురుగా, సౌఖ్యముగా.
