(p. 748) pāḷamu pāḷamu. [Tel.] n. A manner of method. విధము. Season, time. సమయము, A lump, ingot, or mass of metal. కడ్డి. Extent, కొలది. బిడ్డ ఆకలిపాళమెరిగి guessing when the child would be hungry. ఆ పాళవువారు men of that class. గరిటెపాళముగా as much as a spoonful. ఒల పాళముగా నుండే యిల్లు a moderate sized house. అతడు వచ్చే పాళముగానున్నది it looks as if he will come. పాళా pāḷā. n. An ingot or bar of metal. కడ్డీ. పాళాపు౛ొన్న pālāpu-ḍzonna. n. A species of millet (౛ొన్న,) which is of slow growth and has a large head.

(p. 762) puñjanēla punja-nēla. [H.] n. Dry land, మెట్టపొలము. వుంజధాన్యము punjadhānyamu. n. Dry crops. The generic name for every kind of grain excepting rice. It includes కొర్రలు, ఉలవలు, సెనగలు, తమిదలు, ౛ొన్నలు, చామలు and so forth.

(p. 904) bontu bontu. [Tel.] n. Yellow ochre. Saffron colour. The chaff or husk of seeds. బొంతులు bontulu. n. plu. The seeds of the great millet while in the husk. పొట్టుతోనున్న ౛ొన్నలు.

(p. 1000) muḍi muḍi. [Tel.] n. A knot. గ్రంధి. A knot of hair, వెండ్రుకలముడి. A knot or joint in wood, చెట్టులోనగువానిబుడిపి. The hump of an ox, ఎద్దు మూపురము. A quarrel, కలహము. A form of a letter written like a knot as మామిడి the letter ్మ నాముడి the letter ్న. తాముడి the secondary form of the letter త. i.e., ్త. An union, joining, సంధి. Also, another form of ముడ్డి. (q. v.) వాడు దానిని ముడిపెట్టుకొన్నాడు he tied the nuptial knot to her, he married her. ముళ్లుకత్తిరించేవాడు a pick-pocket. ఆమె తలముడి వీడినది her hair fell loose, the knot being untied. ముడివిప్పు to untie or open a knot. ఆ దారములో ముళ్లుపడ్డవి that string has formed into knots. ముడివక్కలు unbroken (or whole) areca nuts, గుంటపోకచెక్కలు. బొమలుముడిపెట్టు to knit the eye-brows. ఒకవ్యాజ్యమును ముడివేసి విడిచిపెట్టినాడు he cast a bone of dispute between them. 'పడంతిమది ముడిసడలన్.' Bhadra Parin. iii. 297. దాని మనసనేగ్రంధి వీడునప్పటికి. ముడి muḍi. adj. Closed, వికసింపని. Entire, whole, unbroken, ఖండముకాని. ముడిపూలు unblown flowers. 'ముడిపూలపొట్లముల్.' Illa. ii. 163. ముడి౛ొన్నలు the great millet enclosed in its husk. ముడినువ్వులు sesamum seeds which are not cleaned. ముడిపోక an entire areca nut. ముడిబియ్యము rice that is not well cleaned, చేబియ్యము. ముడికట్టు muḍi-kaṭṭu. n. Certain fees on a crop for the benefit of the landlord. A truss of straw, a sheaf. v. a. To tie a knot. To tie a knot in a man's cloth to remind him that you call upon him to be a witness. అందుగురించి పెద్దలు ముడికట్టినారు our anscestors have laid down this rule or held this doctrine. ముడికాడు muḍi-kāḍu. n. One who ties a knot, one who unites, సంధానముచేయువాడు. ముడికాళ్లు muḍi-kāḷḷu. n. Knock-knees. ముడికాళ్లవాడు a man who is knock-kneed. ముట్టికాళ్లవాడు. ముడికాళ్లది a woman who is knock-kneed. ముడికొక్కు muḍi-kokku. n. A weevil. నంగనాచి. ముడికొను, ముడిగొను or ముడిపడు muḍi-konu. v. n. To be tied in a knot. ముడికొన్న or ముడిగొన్న muḍi-konna. adj. Tied, bound. బద్ధమైన. 'ముడిగొన్న సంసారమోహబంధములు వెడదన్ని సుజ్ఞాని వెడలినమాడ్కి.' DRK. 372. ముడికొలుపు muḍi-kolupu. v. a. To cause to be tied in a knot. ముడిగిబ్బ muḍi-gibba. n. An ox, a bull, ఆబోతు. ముడిపంచె or ముడిబట్ట muḍi-panche. n. A plain cotton cloth without any coloured border. నెల్లాగుడ్డ. ముడిపడు or ముడిపడు muḍi-paḍu. v. n. To be tied in a knot, ముడిగలదియగు. To be united, సంధించు. To be entangled, పెనగొను. To be confounded, puzzled. చీకాకుపడు. 'ముడిపడెననియెడదంజిడి, ముడిపడకుడు.' N. vii. 312. 'మొగమున చీకట్లుముడివడ.' HD. ii. 1380. The act of being tied in a knot, &c., ముడిపడుట.

(p. 1034) mokka mokka. [Tel. short for మొలక from మొలచు.] n. A germ, shoot, young plant. నారు, చిన్నచెట్టు. Bluntness, disgrace. నాడిమిలేమి, భంగము. A stup of wood. చెట్టు నరకగా మిగిలినమోడు. మొక్కనగవు a budding smile, a slight laugh. 'గ్రక్కునంబొడము మొక్కనగవుల మోముదమ్ములకు వేరొక్కవింత.' A. iv. 45. మొక్కపైరు young corn. మొక్కకట్టు to transplant. వాణ్ని మొక్కపరచినారు they disgraced him. మొక్కచెడు mokka-cheḍu. v. n. To be disappointed or disgraced, భంగపడు, అవమానపడు. మొక్కచెడి వచ్చినాడు he returned home disgraced. మొక్కచెరుచు mokka-cheruṭsu. v. a. To disgrace, disappoint. భంగపరుచు. మొక్కచేయు mokka-chēyu. v. a. To blunt. పదునుచెరుచు. మొక్క౛ొన్న mokka-ḍzonna. n. Maize, Indian corn, a large species of the Great Millet. Rox. i. 263. మొక్కడి or మొక్కడీదు mokkaḍi. n. An obstinate man. ముష్కరుడు. An elephant without tusks. కొమ్ములు లేనియేనుగు. మొక్కడు mokkaḍu. n. A form or determined man, a strong man. బతిష్ఠుడు, బలిసినవాడు. మొక్కడుగు mokk-aḍugu. n. The stumps of corn which yield a second crop. మొక్కపడు mokka-paḍu. v. n. To be disgraced. మొక్కపరుచు, మొక్కచెరుచు or మొక్కపుచ్చు mokka-paruṭsu. v. a. To disappoint, disgrace. భంగపరచు, అవమానముచేయు. మొక్కపోవు or మొక్కలుపోవు mokka-pōvu. v. n. To become blunt, వాడిచెడు. To be disgraced, to be disappointed, భంగపడు. మొక్కమామిడి mokka-māmiḍi. n. The Cashew nut, జీడిమామిడి.

(p. 1100) lāka lāka. [Tel.] n. A feather. పక్షియీక. A new shoot from a stalk of corn, &c. ౛ొన్నపైరులాకపెట్టినది the cholam has sent out fresh shoots. లాకకట్టు lāka-kaṭṭu. n. Pinioning the arms. పెడచేతులువిరిచికట్టు. లాకలు lākalu. n. plu. Small pieces of stick, used by weavers. సాలెవాడు పడుగునందుగుచ్చే పుల్లలు.' కారంపుపడుగులు కండెల కప్పెర గోలముల్ లాకలునీలకడవ, గంప, డొల్ల, కళాసంబు, కదురు, చెమికె.' H. ii. 12. లాకకట్ట lāka-kaṭṭu. n. The unfinished warp of a cloth with pieces of wood still stuck in it, లాకలతో చుట్టి యుంచిన పనిముగియని పడుగు.

(p. 1337) suṅku sunku. [Tel.] n. A corn blossom: the yellow flower that comes on each grain in an ear or head of corn, కంకిలోని గింజ పాలుపట్టక ముందు ప్రతిగింజమీద పచ్చగానుండేపువ్వు. Grain ceremoniously thrown over a married couple. ఒక పళ్లెములో బియ్యమువేసి పైనపళ్లెముమూసి వధూవరుల మీద పాటలుపాడుచు చల్లే బియ్యము. 'మనయిళామాధవులకు శోభనమటంచు చల్లగాపాడి సుంకులుచల్లిరపుడు.' Ila. i. 114. 'బిరుదుల్ గంటలగట్టి సుంకువెలయున్ బింకెంబుతో నెంతగాకరుకుల్ జూపెను బోతుదన్ విరిసి స్రుక్కన్ వ్రాలుచున్ కంకిగాపరులొందన్ తెగునింతె కాకలమగర్భంబుల్ తృణప్రాయమై.'
