(p. 183) egu egu. [Tel. for ఎగువ or ఎగురు] adj. High ఎత్తైన. ఎగుబుజములు high or strong shoulders. ఎగుబోద a new fledged bird రెక్కలువచ్చి యెగరగల పక్షిపిల్ల. ఎగుచు eguṭsu. v. a. To run after, to chase తరుము. ఎగుడు eguḍu. adj. Up ఉన్నతము. ఎగుడుదిగుడు eguḍu-diguḍu. Up and down, backwards and forwards. ఈ దోవ ఎగుడుదిగుడుగానున్నది this road is uneven. ఎగుడుదిగుడు నేల uneven ground. ఎగుడుదిగుడుమాటలు incoherent words. అసంగతమైన మాటలు. వాడు చెప్పేది యేమో యెగుడు దిగుడుగానున్నది he shuffled, or spoke incoherently.

(p. 183) eggu eggu. [Tel.] n. Harm, injury, కీడు, అపవాదము. Shame, disgrace. అనాదరము, దూషణము. Abuse or evil word కీడుమాట. Fault, sin అపరాధము, దోషము. Loss or evil కీడు, నష్టము. ఎగ్గులాడు, ఎగులుపట్టు. eggul-āḍu. v. t. To find fault, to disgrace. నిందించు. ఎగ్గొందు to meet with ill success, to be baffled. క. 'దగ్గిరకొండెము చెప్పెడు ప్రెగ్గడపలుకులకు రాజు ప్రియుడై మరి దా నెగ్గు ప్రజకాచరించుట బొగ్గులకై కల్పతరువు బొడుచుట సుమతీ.' సుమతీశతకము.

(p. 411) cikku or చిక్కుకొను chikku. [Tel.] v. n. To be found, to be caught, or ensnared. దొరకు. To remain, be left మిగులు. అది నాకు చిక్కినది I have got it. To stop or halt, to remain. వెనుకచిక్కు to remain behind, to fall in the rear. To grow thin or lean. కృశించు. చిక్కని సొమ్ముగానున్నది it is unattainable, it cannot be got. చిక్కించుకొను chikkinṭsu-konu. v. a. To get, obtain. చేతిలో చిక్కించుకొను to get into one's hands, to get hold of. వెతలచిక్కు to be seized with sorrow. ధైర్యము చిక్కనందున as I dared not do so. చిక్కినది the rest, the remainder. చిక్కిపోవు chikki-povu v. n. To become lean. చిక్కు n. A tangle, మెలి. A puzzle, perplexity, intricacy, confusion, entanglement, difficulty, distress, trouble. సంకటము, ఇబ్బంది. చిక్కులుపడు to be in distress or to get into difficulty సంకటపడు. చిక్కులబెట్టు to entangle, to involve, puzzle, to distress or harass; to pinch or stint. చిక్కతీయు to disentangle. చిక్కుగానున్నది it is puzzling. చిక్కుపడ్డ tangled or dishevelled as hair, చిక్కయిన. చిక్కుపాటు entanglement. చిక్కుపడుట, సంకటపడుట. చిక్కు adj. Puzzling, perplexing, entangled, intricate, confused, difficult, troublesome, baffled. చిక్కుజడలు tangled hair. చిక్కుకంపు a rancid smell (of oil .) చిక్కుతాళము. n. A lock with many wards, and which, like a patent lock, can only be opened by those who know it.

(p. 673) nūgu nūgu. [Tel.] n. Soft down, downiness or hairiness, whether on plants or animals. పరాగము. Efflorescence of salt. The nap on cloth. Bloom, tenderness, లేతదనము. adj. Downy, tender, లేత. నూగు మీసములు downy moustaches. Hairy, rough. నూగువరహాలు or కరుకువరహాలు coins that are rough to the touch. నూగుదోస or నూదోస the woolly cucumber plant, కూతురుబుడమచెట్టు. నూగుబెండ a species of బెమడ (q. v.) నూగుడు nūguḍu. n. Dust, వడ్లులోనగువాని రేణువు. నూగారు. nūg-āru. n. A line of hair up from the navel to the breast. రోమరేఖ, రోమరాజి. నూనూగు nū-nūgu. n. Sprouting down, callow fledge, as of a young beard. 'నూనూగు మీసకట్టును.' Radha. i. 34.

(p. 905) boccu boṭsṭsu. [Tel.] n. Hair, down, fledge, downy hair, wool, రోమము, కేశము.

(p. 940) maggamu maggamu. [Tel.] n. A loom, నేతి యంత్రము మగ్గముపెట్టు to set to work, మొదలుపెట్టు, ఆరంభించు. నా మగ్గము చెడగొట్టినాడు he baffled my efforts. మగ్గరి maggari. (మగ్గము + అరి.) n. A weaver, సాలెవాడు.

(p. 1130) vara vara. [Tel.] n. A limit. మేర. పర్యంతము. ఇదివరలో before this time. అదివరలో before that time. [for ఒర.] Kind, sort. ఈ వరబంగారు gold of this kind. A kind of grain, ధాన్యవిశేషము. వర (for ఒర.) n. A scabbard, a sheath. ఖడ్గకోశము. వరదూయు to unsheath or draw out of the scabbard. పోయినది వర ఉండేది కత్తియనియెంచు what we have lost is the mere sheath but what we have got is the very blade, i.e. he who is dead is nothing to his successor. వరకట్టు vara-katte. v. n. To test gold by rubbing it on a touchstone. Also, to prepare land for cultivation. వరగొడ్డము vara-goḍḍamu. (వర+గొడ్డము.) n. A crooked word, వంకరమాట. వరకు or వరకును vara-ku. postp. Until, as far as, పర్యంతము. ఇదివరకు until this. అదివరకు so far, until that time. ఆవరకే పారిపోయియుండిరి they had already fled. ఎంతవరకు to what extent? how far? ఆయన చనిపోయేవరకు up to the time of his death. నేను వచ్చేవరకు until I come. వర or ఒర vara. n. The large circular ring of pottery sunk in a small well, to prevent the earth from falling in. నూతికి పెట్టేవి.
