(p. 38) aḍḍādiḍḍi aḍḍā-diḍḍi. [Tel.] adj. Froward, perverse. అక్రమమైన, నన్ను అడ్డాదిడ్డిపనులకు పంపుతాడు he employs me on idle jobs. అడ్డాదిడ్డిమాటలు ఆడబోకు do not speak perversely.

(p. 52) ani ani. [Tel.] (Past p|| of అను to say) Having said. This is translated by the word 'That' or 'so' or the infinitive mood is used, as వారు అక్కడ ఉండినారని అన్నాడు he told me that they were there. అవతల వెళ్లరాదని తిరిగీ వస్తిమి we did not think it right to go on and returned; we thought we must not go further; so we came back. నన్ను పొమ్మని చెప్పెను he told me to go. తన సొమ్మని యెంచి considering it his own. దాన్ని నాకని కొన్నాడు he bought it for me. కావలెనని అక్కడికి పోయినాడు he went there on purpose. పండ్లను పటపటమని కొరికినాడు he gnashed his teeth. ఘమ్మని fragrantly. తళుక్కని brilliantly. గడగడమని మాట్లాడినాడు he spoke rapidly. ఈగలు జుమ్మని ముసురు కొన్నవి the flies covered it buzzingly. నీవు ఈ శాలువ కప్పుకొంటే గుమ్మని ఉండును if you wear this shawl it feels warm: or, you will feel warm.

(p. 58) anuṣṇuḍu an-ushṇuḍu. [Skt. Lit a man without heat.] n. A man without energy. An idle fellow.

(p. 88) alasaṭa alasaṭa. [Tel. from అలయు q. v.] n. Exhaustion, weariness. ఆయాసము, అలపు. అలసత alasata. [Skt.] n. Inactivity, laziness, idleness. జడత్వము, మాంద్యము. Delay. ఆలస్యము. అలసము alasamu. [Skt.] adj. Idle, slothful, indolent. మందమైన, జడమైన. అలసుడు alasuḍu. n. He who is idle or indolent. మందుడు, బడుడు. అలసురాలు alasurālu. n. A lazy woman, a dawdle. మందురాలు.

(p. 116) āptamu aptamu. [Skt.] adj. Obtained, gained, intimate, dear, confidential, trusted, attached. ఆప్తముగా confidentially, in a friendly manner, candidly. ఆప్తజనము, ఆప్తజనులు own people, or relations. ఆప్తి āpti. n. Gain, profit. Joining, attachment ఆప్తుడు āptuḍu. n. A friend.

(p. 124) ālasyamu ālasyamu. [Skt.] n. Delay. heedlessness; sloth, idleness. జాగు, సోమరితనము. ఆలస్యముచేయు or ఆలసించు ālasyamu-chēyu. v. n. To delay, to idle or trifle time away.

(p. 152) uḍugu uḍugu. [Tel.] v. n. To fall away, grow thin, lean or emaciated, decrease, to be cast off, to be removed as a stone or chain: to be exhausted. To pause, halt, stop. II. if. 126. కానుపు ఉడిగినది breeding has ceased. ఉడుగక ceaselessly, incessantly, without intermission. ఎగతెగక. ఉడుకువ uḍukuva. [Tel. ఉడుగు+కువ] n. Cessation. Rest. ఊరట, ఉపశమనము. ఉడిగించు uḍiginṭsu. [Tel. causative of ఉడుగు] v. a., To weaken, to lower or starve. To loosen. To turn out, cause to leave, &c., to check, stop, bridle. To remove, do away with. పొగొట్టు.

(p. 154) utta utta. [Tel.] adj. Empty, mere, bare, plain, actual, just, simple; idle, naked, vain, useless, in just, not serious, not in earnest, false. ఉత్తప్పుడు on common occasions, in general. ఉత్తదొంగపని actual theft. ఉత్త గుర్తము a horse without a rider. ఉత్తవారు persons not involved or concerned in a matter. ఇచ్చినప్పుడు ఉంటివా ఉత్తప్పుడు ఉంటివా were you present when he gave it, or at same other time?

(p. 166) ubusu ubusu. [Tel.] n. Rest, repose, unemployed time. పని లేని కాలము. News, intelligence. వృత్తాంతము, సమాచారము. ఉబుసుపుచ్చు ubusu-puṭṭsu. v. To while away the time, to loiter, to idle, to trifle.

(p. 176) ūraka or ఊరికె ūraka. [Tel.] adv. Without. For nothing. Silently, merely, idly, in vain. Without cause, of itself, spontaneously, voluntarily, causelessly. Without employment; unoccupied, empty, vacant. ఇల్లు ఊరికె ఉన్నది the house is vacant. ఊరికె పోనిచ్చు to let a thing go free. ఊరికెవచ్చు without any special purpose. ఊరకుండు to submit, to still; to be passive or silent. చ ... 'ఒప్పుత, ప్పరయురసజ్ఞు లూహదెలియంగల లేఖ కపాఠకోత్తముల్, దొరికినగాక యూరకకృతుల్ రచియించుమటన్న శక్యమే.' (అల్లసాని పెద్దన్న) i.e., how can a poet compose verse without these conveniences?

(p. 205) oṇḍa onḍa. [Tel.] n. Ill, evil. A whitlow, a sore nail. ఒండరిమిండరిమాటలు onḍari-minḍari-māṭalu. n. Nonsense, idle talk.

(p. 224) kañcukaṇṭu kanṭsu-kanṭu. [Tel.] n. A frying pan. బాణలి. కంచుమించు kanṭsu-minṭsu. n. A sort of toe-ring. adj. Invisible, out of sight అగోచరము., In some places it is the name of the hawk. కంచుమించుగా kanṭsu-minṭsu-gā. adv. Rapidly, like a flash. కంచుమించులై, చెల్లాకుచెదరై. R. V. 303.

(p. 228) kakkuriti , కక్కూర్తి kakkuriti. [Tel.] n. Want, defect, a whim, idle desire. లోభము. Hard necessity కష్టము, ఇబ్బంది. పొట్ట కక్కూర్తికై for want of food. కక్కూర్తిగా Absurdly, shamefully, hard beset. కక్కూర్తికాడు one who is in great want.

(p. 233) kaṭṭe kaṭṭe. [Tel.] n. A stick or staff, a piece of wood, fire-wood. నీరుకట్టె a harmless water snake. అడ్డకట్టె a fife. నిడుపుకట్టె a flute. వరాహకట్టె a brush made of hog's bristles. కట్టె kaṭṭe. adj. Hard, harsh. కట్టెబుద్ధి a dry or hard disposition. వానిది కట్టెఒళ్లు he is lean but sinewy. కట్టెవిరిచి నట్టుగా severely, rigidly. కట్టెవిరుపుమాటలు severe language.
