(p. 226) kandi kandi. [Tel.] n. The grain called red gram. తనరి. Canjanusindicus, Pigeon Pea; No-eye (small form) or Congo-pea(large form) Dal or Cadjan Pea. Cytisus cadjan (Watts.) కందిపప్పు, See పప్పు. కందిపుల్లలు the stalks of the plant used us fuel. ఆమె కాలమునాటి కందివిత్తు she is like an old pigeon pea, i.e., she is as sharp as a needle. కందికంప thatch or straw of this plant. కందిమిడత kandi-midata. n. A locust.

(p. 292) kuṭṭu kuṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To ache, be sore, to be in pain. వానికి కండ్లుకుట్టినవి he has got sore eyes. Metaphorically, he is envious. కుట్టు. v. a. To prick, bore, pierce: to sting. To sew or stitch. పండ్లు కుట్టుకొను to pick the teeth. మడిచికుట్టు to fold and sew, i.e., to hem. చెప్పుడు కుట్టు to make shoes. చెప్పులు కుట్టేవాడు a cobbler, మాదిగవాడు. కుట్టుతేళ్లు scorpions, villians, కంటకములు, క్షుద్రులు. కుట్టు. n. A stitch, a seam. Sewing, needle-work. A stitch in the side కొంచెము కడుపు నొప్పి. A prick, or puncture, piercing. Spite, grudge, pique. కడుపుకుట్టు belly-ache: spite, grudge. కుట్టుసురు the last breath, or gasp. కుట్టుకాడ or కుట్టుపోగు kuṭṭu-kāḍa. n. A wire placed in the ear in preparation for an earring. కుట్టు పోయు kuṭṭu-pōyu. v. n. To stitch or sew slightly.

(p. 543) tūmu tūmu. [Tel.] n. A drain, a sluice, a watercourse, an outlet, a fissure, a bore, a hole. ద్వారము, రంధ్రము. The Indian bushel, equal to four Kunchams, నాలుగుకుంచములకొలది, i.e., about fifteen' English bushels. A measure of land (See ఇరస) being 1/16 (one anna) less than acre.' The central hole in a wheel through which the axle passes బండిచక్రములోని నడిమిరంధ్రము. The eye of a needle సూది చెవి.

(p. 556) tondara tondara. [Tel. తొర+తొర.] n. Great haste, hurry. సంభ్రమము. Trouble, embarrassment. బాధ. Disorder, confusion. Danger, peril. Labour, difficulty. Vexation, needless trouble. తొందరగాకావలెను I want it greatly. వాడు తొందరపడలేదు he was not put about , or flustered. తొందరపడు to be troubled, to be in a hurry, to be embarrassed or flurried. ప్రయాణమైనపోయేతొందరను మరచిపోతిని I forgot it in the hurry of the journey. తొందరచేయు, తొందరపెట్టు or తొందరపరచు to trouble, annoy or vex, to interfere with. తొందరపాటు tondara-pāṭu. n. Haste, hurry Troublesomeness.

(p. 580) dabbanamu or దబ్బలము dabbanamu. [Tel.] n. A bodkin, a large packing needle.

(p. 756) pirindi or పిరిది pirindi. [Tel.] adj. Behind, after, following. సుదిపిరింది త్రాటిక్రియ as a thread that follows the needle. పిరిందికి or పిరిదికి pirindi-ki. adv. Backwards. వెనుకకు. 'అగ్నియోత్ర పరులు వాజి బిరిందికి నడుగుపెట్టక తెగనడుచువారు.' M. XII. iii. 55. See పిరుదు.

(p. 954) mannemu or మన్యము mannemu. [from Skt. మాన్యము.] n. Land given as a token of respect. సమ్మానించి యిచ్చిన కొంత భూభాగము. High-lands, hilly land, hill-country, uplands. Agency tracts. మన్నెపుజ్వరము jungle fever. మన్నెపుదేశము highlands. లోమన్యము the interior of the hills. 'అనయంబు రజతాద్రి యట్టి దుర్గంబు మనకు గల్గన నేల మన్నెముల్.' BD. iii. 1093. మన్నెకాడు, మన్నెదొర or మన్నెపుదొర mannckāḍu. n. A highland chieftain. మన్నెపువారు hill people. మన్నెపుగొడ్డలి a broad axe, a woodman's axe, a highlander's axe. మన్నెముల్లు manne-mullu. n. A large needle used to remove thorns from the feet of goats. 'మందులపొడిబుర్ర మన్నెముల్లుతోలుకుళ్లాయి.' H. ii. 85. మన్నెరికము manne-rika-mu. n. Chieftainship, the state of being a lord among the hill people, మన్నెపుదొరతనము. 'వలపుల మన్నెరికంబు' Vijayanti. ii. 66. టీ మోహములయొక్క ప్రభుత్వము.

(p. 1011) mullu mullu. [Tel.] n. A thorn, a spur, a prickle. A fish bone, a spine. The tongue of a balance. A small needle or pin, as the hand of a watch or clock. ముల్లిడు to plant thorns. A. iv. 265. ముల్లిడి setting up a hedge. చుట్టూకంపవేసి. ముండ్లుపోయిన గడియారము a clock that has lost its hands. ముల్లాడించు mull-āḍinṭsu. v. a. To chip (stone with a chisel.) To chisel. వడ్లముండ్లు the beards of grain. ముంటికత్తి a sharp instrument to extract thorns with. ముండ్లపంది a porcupine. ముండ్లబంతి or ములుబంతి a cluster of prickers used by thieves. 'కత్తెరనిసుము నక్షతలు ముండ్లబంతియు నీలికచ్చడమును.' BD. v. 676. ముల్లుచూపు or ములుచూపు mullu-ṭsūpu. v. n. To excel, అతిశయించు. To turn the balance, i.e., be superior. ముల్లాకురాయి mull-āku-rāyi. (ముల్లు + ఆకురాయి.) n. A rough file. ముల్లుచిత, ములుచిత or ముండ్లమునై mull-uchita. n. The name of a thorny plant. whose leaves are eaten. ఒకవిధమైన కూరాకు.

(p. 1042) mola mola. [Tel.] n. The waist, the middle, కటిప్రదేశము. A wedge, pin, large nail, or spike. The pin or needle of a balance, త్రాసుముల్లు, చీల. మొలత్రాసు a balance which has a tongue. 'ధమనియుశ్రావణంబు మొలత్రాసునుపట్టెడ నీరుకారు' H. ii. 200. దిసమొల or మొండిమొల starknakedness, utter nudity. మొలకట్టు mola-kaṭṭu. n. A girdle or waist-band. నడుముకు కట్టుకొనేత్రాడు, మొలమాలు. A waist cloth, కట్టుకోక. మొలకత్తి mola-katti. n. A dagger, బాకు. మొలకులికి or మొలకొలికి mola-kuliki. n. A kind of grain, ధాన్యవిశేషము. మొలతాడు mola-tāḍu. n. The small string tied round a Hindu's waist whence is suspended the bit of cloth which serves as a modesty piece. కటిసూత్రము. బంగారుమొలతాడు a woven cord of golden wire. మొలతాటిగోడ mola-tāṭi-gōḍa. n. A parapet, or rail wall. మేలుగోడ. మొలనూలు mola-nūlu. n. A girdle, a zone: a cestus of gold or silver, worn by women. ఆడువారికటిమాత్రము.

(p. 1046) mōpu mōpu. [Tel. from మోయు.] v. a. To load, place a burden on (another,) మోయుజేయు. To lay (a fault) upon (a person.) To impute, or charge (against another,) ఆరోపించు. To prop up, ఆనించు. చేతులునేలమోపెను he laid or rested his hands on the ground. 'నారిచేసినతప్పు నామీద మోపి.' Sār. D. 545. 'వాడిసూది మోపినయంతటి భూమి ధర్మనందనునకునీక' as much land as the point of a sharp needle can cover, or rest on. Kanyaka Puran. vii. 116. n. A bundle, load, burden. గడ్డిమొదలైనవాటికట్ట, భారము. A bowstring. వింటినారి. adj. Much, heavy, అధికము. ఉత్తరమున వాన నిండామోపుగానున్నది there is rain impending in the north. దెబ్బలు మోపుగాపడినవి the blows fell thick. మోపుగానుండే గాయము a severe wound. 'నగరోపకంఠంబునను మోపువైచి.' B. P. v. 113 మోవరి or మోపుకాడు mōp-ari. n. A sustainer, a supporter, one who props. మూయువాడు, భావవాహకుడు.మోపాది mōpādi. (మోపు + అది.) n. Danger, risk అపాయము, సంకటము. మోపి mōpi. A widow, విధవ, ముండమోపి. ముండమోసినది she wears a shaven pate. మోపించు mōpinṭsu. v. a. (Causal of మోయు.) To cause to bear a burden. To impose. మోయునట్టుచేయు, నిందపెట్టు. ఆ కట్టెలను వానిచేత మోపించిరి they made him carry the fagots of wood. ఆ తప్పును వానిమీద మోపించిరి they caused the fault to be laid upon him. 'మోపరికగుతగ్గు మొగ్గులభరము, మోపించుకొనునట్టి ముగ్ధునికగునె.' BD. page 129. మోపిక mōpika. n. Weight, భారము. Help, aid. కాండ్లమోపికచేసి by the help of the plough. మోపిడు mōp-iḍu. (మోపు + ఇడు.) v. a. To string a bow, విల్లు ఎక్కిడు. మోపుకొను mōpu-konu. v. a. To take upon one's-self. మోపుదల mōpu-dala. n. A charge or accusation. ఆరోపణము. A load, భారము. ఈనమోపుదలగానుండే ఆవు a cow on the point of calving. ఇవ్వ మోపుదలయైన రూకలు money still due, బాకీ ఉన్న సొమ్ము. చాలా మోపుదలగా చెప్పెను he spoke very impressively. వానిమీద నేరము మోపుదల అయినది he was charged with the offence. మోపుదలచేయు mōpudala-chēyu. v. a. To lay, charge, to bring as a charge, impose, ఆ రూకలను నేను ఇచ్చేటట్టు మోపుదలచేసిరి they made the money payable by me. మోపెట్టు mōp-eṭṭu. (మోపు + పెట్టు.) v. a. To place a weight upon, బరువుపెట్టు. ఆ కాగితనములపైని ఈరాయి మోపెట్టు put this weight on those papers. To brace a bow, విల్లు ఎక్కుపెట్టు. 'అర్జునుడు గాండీవంబు మోపెట్టె.' M. v. i. 261.

(p. 1346) sūci or సూచిక sūchi. [Skt.] n. A needle. సూది. An index or sign, తెలియజేయునది. సూచీముఖము sūchī-mukhamu. n. The point of a needle. సూదిమొన. An arrow. 'మాచీముఖంబైనజొనపగరాని చీకటి.' BD. v. 683. సూచీముఖపక్షి sūchī-mukha-pakshi. n. A kind of bird. పక్షివిశేషము. 'సూచిముఖ పక్షిగాంచి.' G. i. 276.

A needle. గుడ్డలుకుట్టుసాధనము. గరికసూదులు a kind of rice. సూదికొమ్ములు slender or sharp horns. సూదివలె వచ్చి దబ్బనమువలెతేలు to enter like a small needle and come out a packing needle. సూదిమల్లిక or సూదిమల్లె sūdi-mallika. n. The eared jasmine, Jasminum auriculatum. సూదులవలె సన్నగానుండే మల్లెలు. సూదంటురాయి, సూదిరాయి or అంటురాయి sūd-anṭu-rāyi. n. A magnet, a lodestone. కాంతరాయి, అయస్కాంతము.
