(p. 237) katti katti. [Tel.] n. A knife. A sword. తీసినకత్తితీరు బిత్తలియై నిలిచినది she stood as a drawn sword. A measure of land, which differs in various districts. It is considered to be as much as a man can reap in one day. In the Government accounts a 'cutty' is rated at 40 acres and 14 గుంటలు (q. v.) This phrase, which means a 'sword of land' implies that this quantity of land was assigned to a family which furnished the feudal lord one fighting man. కత్తికట్టేదొర katti-kaṭṭē-dora. An officer, a gentleman who wears a sword. కత్తికాసు katti-kāsu. n. A carpenter's tool for squaring. కత్తిపిట్టి katti-piṭṭa. The Cuckoo called Hierococcyx varius. చిన్న కత్తిపిట్ట The Indian plaintive cuckoo, Cacomantis passcrinus. (F.B.I.) కత్తిపిడిక a basket in which a toddy drawer keeps his knives ఈండ్రవాని కత్తుల బుట్ట. కత్తిపీట katti-pīṭa. n. A large knife standing slantwise in a block of wood upon which vegetables are sliced. కత్తిబళ్లెము katti ballemu. A 'sword spear,' a scythe-like blade mounted as a spear.

(p. 540) turumu turumu. [Tel.] n. Powder. పొడుము. Braided hair or tresses. కొప్పు. v. a. To cram, or stick: to thrust in. To adjust, trim, deck the head with flowers. కొప్పుగాముడుచు, కొప్పునదోపు. To grate, pound, reduce to powder or to chips పొడిచేయు. వాని నోట్లో గుడ్డతురిమి కొట్టినారు they thrust a handkerchief into his mouth to beat him. తురుముపీట turumu-pīṭa. n. A crooked knife with teeth at the end used to scoop out a cocoanut, &c. తురుముట కనువుగా చివరను పండ్లేర్పరచిన వంకర యినుప కమ్మిచెక్కిన పీట.

(p. 760) pīcamu pīṭsamu. [Tel.] n. The chin, the lower jaw. కిందిపెదవి. A dimple in the chin, పెదవికిందిపల్లము. Pride, మదము, వాడిపీచమణచినాను I brought down his pride. A peacock's tail or train, పింఛము.

(p. 760) pīcara or పిల్లపీచర pīṭsara. [Tel.] n. A certain wild shrub. See under పిల్ల.

(p. 760) pīcu pīṭsu. [Tel.] n. The fibre of plants. వారికి మాకు ఉండే సంబంధము బీరకాయపీచుగానున్నది our relations are not strong at all. Also, used for grass or straw as బోదపీచు hill grass. 'పీచుమీసంబులుబ్బిన యుల్లిగడ్డంబు.' HK. iv. 82.

(p. 760) pīṭa , పీటచెక్క or పీటకోడు pīṭa. [from Skt. పీఠము.] n. A seat made of board. కూర్చుండుపలక. బల్లపీట a bench. నాలుగుకాళ్లపీట a stool. వీణెపీట the bridge of a violin, also called గుర్రము. దూలపుపీట the short cross rafter in the top of a Hindu house roof. చాకలిపీట a washerman's bench on which he beats the cloth. కాడిపీట a short piece of wood under a yoke, నొగకు దిగువవేయు చెక్క. పీటబెట్టు or పీటవెట్టు pīṭa-beṭṭu. v. n. To set up one's seat, i.e., take up permanent residence, settle. స్థిరాసనమువేయు, కదలక ఉండు. పీటముడి pīṭa-muḍi. n. A double knot, without bows.

(p. 761) pīṭhamu pīṭhamu. [Skt.] n. A seat. The 'chair,' diocese, or see of a Guru. పీఠస్థుడు one who sits on a seat or throne, i.e., a Guru. పీఠమర్ధుడు or పీఠమర్దకుడు pīṭha-marduḍu n. A lover. పీఠి pīṭhi. Same as పీఠము. పీఠిక pīṭhika. n. A high seat. ఉత్కృష్టపీషము. A preface, preamble, preliminary note.

R. v. 280. లంకెపీట lanke-pīṭa. n. A wooden plank used in linking cattle together. పశువులను పెనవేయుపలక. లంకెపెట్టు or లంకెవేయు lanke-peṭṭu. v. a. To link together, తగులు పరుచు, పెనవేయు.

A piece of wood placed between the yoke and the shaft of a plough.
