(p. 81) arundhati arundhati. [Skt.] n. The wife of the sage Vasishtha, celebrated for her virtue వసిష్ఠుని భార్య. A star in the Pleiades. A marriage ceremonies అరుంధతి is invoked by the bridegroom as a pattern of conjugal excellence and the star in the Pleiades which represents the wife of Vasishtha is pointed out to the bridal pair.

(p. 222) kaṅkaṇamu kankaṇamu. [Skt.] n. A bracelet or anklet. ముత్యాలు మొదలైనవాని సరము. A consecrated thread bound on the wrist at the commencement of a marriage, &c: చేతికి కట్టుకొను తోపరము. The trellice or running flowered pattern cut in marble round the walls of a temple. కంకణము వంటి దూడ a thriving calf. బద్ధకంకణుడై bound to execute an act. ఆ పనికి కంకణము కట్టుకొన్నాడు he undertook that work or is wedded to it. ధర్మమునకు కంకణముకట్టుకొని యున్నాడు he is bent on doing justice. కంకణాలయూటె a spear girded with rings of silver or other metal. కంకణగ్రహణము kankaṇa-grahaṇamu. n. An annular eclipse.

(p. 246) kamalamu kamalamu. [Skt.] n. The lotus, Nymphœa nelumboa, water-lily. తామర, ఎర్రతామర. Also, water నీరు. కమలదళము the petal of a lotus. కమలదళరూపము a rose pattern, a flower shape. కమలాకరము a tank abounding with the lotus. కమలాకారము heart shaped. కమలాప్తుడు kamal-āptuḍu. (from ఆప్త dear) n. The sun, because he is dear to the lotus, which expands as he rises. కమలాసనుడు kamal-āsanuḍu. (from ఆసన a seat.) n. The god Bramha, because the lotus is his throne. కమలాపండు kamalā-paṇḍu. [from Skt. కమలము water and Tel. పండు. lit. Juicy fruit.] n. The orange called a loose jacket. కమలలిని kamalini. n. A tank abounding with the lotus: the lotus itself.

(p. 412) ciṭuku , చిటుక్కు or చిటుకుపొటుకు chiṭuku. [Tel.] (anuk.) n. A low soft sound, clicking, chirruping: a just audible sound, as the sound of the crack of the finger joints, a splashing, pattering, or dripping sound. చీమ చిటుక్కుమంటే నిద్రనుండి లేస్తాడు the sound of an ant will awake him. చీమ చిటుక్కుమంటే వినబడును the tread of an ant might have been heard. చిటుక్కుమ or చిటుక్కుమను chiṭukk-anu. v. n. To give a crackling sound like the sparks of a Leyden jar.

(p. 469) jelaga jelaga. [Tel.] n. A leech. ఆకుతోటజెలగ a snail. చీమిడిజెలగ (the slime snail) a slug. జెలగరోగము jelaga-rōgamu. n. The leech evil, that kills cattle, through their paunches being filled with leeches. జెలగవాటు jelaga-vāṭu. n. A triangular pattern woven at the end of cloths.

(p. 716) parika parika. [Tel.] n. A kind of bird. పక్షి విశేషము. See పరిగె పిట్ట. A kind of stone, ఒకవిధమైన రాయి. Also, a pattern or diagram drawn on the floor with lines of flour or coloured powder. ముగ్గులు. పరికలువేయు, అనగా ముగ్గులుపెట్టు. 'చ తిరుమల కంచి పుష్ఫగిరి తీర్థములం ౛ని కొంగుములఠ్లతో, నరములు దంపతుల్ వడయ వారక కాన్కలు వైచి యంతటన్, బరికలు దృష్టిదీపములలు పన్నిన గద్దెలు బెట్టి యేమిటన్, గరమగు పుత్రవాంచ కడ గానగలేక విచారభిన్నులై.' (p. 744) pārupattemu or పార్పత్తెము pāru-pattemu. [Tel.] n. The duty or office of a manager or superintendent of a village or temple. Authority, అధికారము. పారుపత్తి or పారుపత్తెకాడు pāru-patti. n. The officer in charge of a village or temple. A man in authority. అధికారి.

(p. 972) mādiri or మాద్రి mādiri. [Tel.] n. A pattern, sample, model, type, specimen. కుచ్చు, సామ్యము. A sort, kind, variety. adj. Similar, like. సమానమైన.

(p. 997) muggu or మ్రుగ్గు muggu. [Tel.] n. A pattern or diagram (రంగవల్లి) drawn with lines of flour or coloured powder. ముత్తియపుముగ్గు a pattern made in seed pearl. ముగ్గుచెరువు to spoil one's plans, to break the spell. ముగ్గురాయి a limestone, a pebble. ముగ్గువేయు to set a pattern. ముగ్గులువేయు to perform certain magic rites, seating the patient on a magic square drawn on the floor.

(p. 1031) mēlu mēlu. [Tel.] n. Good, kindness. ఉపకారము. Good fortune, prosperity, favour, happiness, క్షేమము, శుభము. Profit, advantage, లాభము. Righteousness, పుణ్యము, సుకృతము. Excellence, superiority, విశేషము. Love, మోహము. Pride, మదము. 'చదువుల మేలులేదొ.'
