A yard, three feet. గజేంద్రగజము gajēndra-gajamu. n. The measure called 'the great yard' equal to ten yards. గజకర్ణము gaja-karṇamu. (Lit. An 'elephant's ear.') n. A large fan with a hollow handle. wherein it can be turned round rapidly. గజకర్ణమురీతిగా fickle, uncertain as a weathercock. గజగామిని or గజయాన gaja-gāmini. n. A woman with the rolling pace of an elephant i.e., with a majestic gait. గజనిమీలినము gaja-nimīlinamu. n. Wakefulness or lightness of sleep (Literally, an elephant's sleep.) A nap. (p. 383) gūḍhamu gūḍhamu. [Skt.] n. A secret. రహస్యము. adj. Hidden, secret, abstruse. దాచబడిన. గూఢచారి gūḍha-chāri. n. A secret emissary, a spy, an agent or messenger. గూఢజుడు gūdha-juḍu. n. One of unknown birth or uncertain parentage. గూఢపాత్తు gūḍha-pāttu. n. Lit. One whose feet do not appear. A serpent, a snake. గూఢరత్నము gūḍha-ratnamu. n. A game among girls, like 'Hunt the slipper.' గూఢరత్నసికతాన్వేషణంబు. Vasu. iii. 37. గూఢసాక్షి a witness who knows the real secret; or a secretly hired witness.

(p. 646) nāli nāli. [Tel.] n. A mean work. కుత్సితపు పని. కూలినాలి cooly and other low and uncertain kind of work. adj. Sly. కుత్సితము. Deceitful, వంచకము. (p. 652) nidānamu nidānamu. [Skt.] n. The original cause, origin, source. ఆదికారణము. నిదానము. [Tel.] n. Steadiness, patience, gentleness, ఆత్రపడక విచారించుట. నిదానముగా మాట్లాడు speak gently. నిదానములేని మాట an uncertainty, a matter about which we are in doubt. పొద్దు నిదానము the exact time. నిదానస్థుడు nidāna-sthu-ḍu. n. A correct, prudent, thoughtful or patient man. నిదానించు nidāninṭsu. v. n. To pause, to deliberate or ponder. ఆత్రపడకవిచారించు నిదానముగా nidāna-mu-gā. adv. Steadily, soberly.

(పుట్టినది and పుట్టినవాడు are used where it is uncertain which member of a family is the elder, as the specific Telugu names for these relations denote the precedency or succession of birth.) తోడబుట్టినవాడు a brother. తోడబుట్టినది a sister. పుట్టుదరిద్రము life-long poverty. పుట్టుభోగి one who is rich from his birth. పుట్టుమచ్చ a birth-mark. పుట్టువ్యాధి a congenital disease, a disease born with one. పుట్టుక puṭṭuka. n. Birth, origin; source. జన్మము. పుట్టుకల్లరి puṭṭu-kallari. n. A born liar, పుట్టుక మొదలు అబద్ధములాడువాడు. పుట్టుగట్టు puṭṭu-gaṭṭu. n. The mountain out of which the sun is supposed to be born each morning, ఉదయాద్రి పుట్టుగొడ్డు or పుట్టుగొడ్రాలు one who is hopelessly barren. పుట్టుగ్రుడ్డి or పుట్టుచీకు puṭṭu-gruḍḍi. n. One who is born blind. పుట్టుచెయుయువులు puttu-cheyuvulu. n. Ceremonies connected with a birth. జాతకర్మము. పుట్టుపాప puttu-pāpa. n. An albino. పుట్టువు, ప ుట్టుగు or పుట్టుబడి puṭṭuvu. n. Birth, origin, production, పుట్టుక. తొంటిపుట్టువన్ in a former birth. పుట్టుమూగ puṭṭu-mūga. n. One who is born dumb. పుట్టువడుగు puṭṭu-vaḍugu. n. One who is a bachelor all his lifetime. పుట్టువెర్రి puṭṭu-verri. n. One who is insane from his birth. పుట్టించు puṭṭinṭsu. v. a. To create, generate, form, make, raise, fabricate. పుట్టింట puṭṭ-inṭa. (abl. of పుట్టిల్లు.) At home, in her parent's house. పుట్టినిల్లు, పుట్నిల్లు or పుట్టిల్లు puṭṭin-illu. n. Birth-place, home; mint, fountain-head. వాడు దుర్మార్గమునకు పుట్టిల్లు he is a mass of wickedness.

(p. 1001) muṇugu muṇugu. [Tel.] v. n. To sink, become immersed, submerged; to dive, drown; to be lost, ruined. ఆ పని ముణుగుతూ తేలుతూ ఉన్నది that affair is still in uncertainty. నాకేమిన్ని ముణిగిపోలేదు it is no loss to me. నాసొమ్ము ముణిగిపోయినది my money is lost. ముణక muṇaka. n. Immersion, submersion. నీళ్లలో ముణుగుట. ఒకముణకలో వాని ప్రాణము పోయినది he died in one immersion. ముణకరాములు muṇaka-rāmulu. n. A puzzle, hesitation, being at a loss. ఎటుతోచనిస్థితి. ఇంతలో పులికి ముణకరాములయినది the tiger was now at bay. ముణకరాములుగానుంటిని I was in a fix. ముణిగించు muṇiginṭsu. v. a. To sink, immerse, drown. నీళ్లలో ముణిగి పోవునట్టుచేయు. ముణుగలాగుకొను or ముడుగలాగుకొను muṇuga-lāgu-konu. v. n. To crouch or lie coiled up రవంతచోటులో కాళ్లుచేతులు ముడుచుకొని పండుకొను.
