(p. 605) dūyu or దుయ్యు dūyu. [Tel.] v. a. To penetrate, go through. గుచ్చుకొను. To pull off the scabbard, as a sword. To take palm leaves out of a volume. ఊడదీయు to strip off leaves or boughs. To pluck, take, as a handful of grass. వరదూసి pulling off the scalbard. దెబ్బ దూసిపోయినది the blow glanced off. పేగులు దిస్సిరాపొడిచి stabbed him so that the bowels came out. Pal. 424. దూయుతీగె Same as దుశ్శిరము. (q. v.) దూయించు dūyinṭsu. (causal of దూయు.) v. a. To draw across, to pass over. కాలినగడ్డపారచేత దూయించెను he passed a hot iron over the hand. (This is a ceremony of ordeal in oaths, quite distinct from cauterizing.) దూసిపోవు to go through or penetrate. To glance off, as a dart.

(p. 614) dōvati dōvati. [Tel.] n. A man's garment worn round the loins. కట్టువస్త్రము, పరిధానము.

(p. 576) dampatulu dam-patulu. [Skt. from జాయ+పతి.] n. plu. Man and wife. ఆలుమగలు. దంపతిపూజ worship or homage paid to a man and his wife.

(p. 595) dinālā divālā. [H.] n. Bankruptcy. దివాలా తీయు or దివాలాయెత్తు to become a bankrupt. దివాలాకోరు divālā-kōru. n. A bankrupt.

(p. 585) dasarā dasarā [from Skt. దశ ten+రా = రాత్రులు nights.] n. The name of a feast called విజయదశమి in the month ఆశ్వయుజ (October.) It is the close of the నవరాత్రి anniversary.

(p. 622) dhāmamu dhāmamu. [Skt.] n. A house, abode or dwelling. ఇల్లు. A place, చోటు. Light, వెలుగు. Brightness, splendour, కాంతి. వరసద్గుణధామ O thou abode of noble virtues! గుణధాముడు he who is the home of excellence. ధామనిధి dhāma-nidhi. n. The sun. Lit: The abode of brightness.

(p. 624) dhyānamu dhyānamu. [Skt.] n. Fixing the attention on God. Meditation, contemplation. A poetical personification. An encomium, panegyric. తదేకధ్యానముగానున్నాడు he has fixed his undivided attention on it. ధ్యానించు or ధ్యానముచేయు dhyāniṭsu. v. a. To meditate on. ధ్యేయము fit to meditate on, ధ్యానింపదగిన.
