The rank or office of a Naik or headman, chiefdom, lordship. ఆధిపత్యము. నాయకవాడి or నాయకవాళి nāyaka-vāḍi. n. The police force. The militia, కట్టుబడివాండ్లు. ఊరి బంట్రోతులు. A Government peon who has to look after cultivation operations, సేద్యపుపనులను పరామరికచేసే దివాణపుబంటు. నాయడు or నాయుడు nāyaḍu. n. A chief. A title borne by men of a certain Sudra caste.

(p. 637) nalugu , నలగు or నలియు nalugu. [Tel.] v. n. To break. To be broken, bruised, crushed, crumpled or reduced to powder. నలియగు. To rub with a fragrant paste నలుగుపెట్టు. To become easy, smooth, or familiar by acquaintance. To wither, be weakened or debilitated. ఆ పాఠము అతనికి నలిగినది the lesson has become familiar to him. దోవ యింకా నలగలేదు the road is not yet trodden smooth. వారు జగడమాడగా నేను నలిగిపోతిని they were the disputants but I was the sufferer, I was crushed between them. వారు నలిగిపోయినాడు they are in reduced circumstances. ఒళ్లు నలిగియున్నది the limbs are quite tired. నలుగు nalugu. n. Rubbing, scrubbing the limbs with fragrant paste made usually of పెసలు. నలుగుపెట్టు to rub the limbs with paste. నలుగు or నలుగుపిండి n. A sort of fragrant paste used as soap. నలుగుడు or నలగుడు naluguḍu. n. Difficulty, trouble, pain, suffering. పిడనము, సంకటము, తొందర, ఇబ్బంది 'అతండు నలుగుడుబడరాదో మగువ.' Suca. iii. 333. That which is thrashed or bruised. నలిగినది. నలుగుడుపెట్టు to oppress, to harass. నలగగొట్టు nalaga-goṭṭu. v. a. To pound, to bruise. వాణ్ని నలగకొట్టినారు they thrashed him severely. నలత or నల్త nalata. n. Debility: a weak state: the remains or constitutional effects of a disease. పురాణించిన రోగము. Convalescence, a bad state of health, lingering indisposition, a low fever. నలతగొట్టు nalata-goṭṭu. n. A make-bate, a thorn in one's side. నలుకువ or నలకువ nalukuva. n. To eat by small morsels, to nibble, to pick at to eat a little of any thing like pickle, &c., as a relish the principal food. శూరలోనగువ్యంజనములను కొద్ధి కొద్దిగా తినుట నంజుకొనేవస్తువు a relish or thing so eaten. 'తచ్ఛాకంబునంజుచుం దలంచు కొనియె.' A. iv. 243. టీ నంజుచుం=ఆస్వాదించుచు, అనగా నంచుకొనుచు. 'చందుపుటంబులనంజనిచ్చుచున్.' Parij. iv. 27. నం౛ or నం౛ు nanḍza. n. A tart. నం౛ుకొను వస్తువు. A pickle, ఉపదంశము, ఊరుగాయ. Smacking with the lips, చప్పరించడము. నం౛ు nandzu. n. Poison. విషము. Beri-beri, blood poisoning, నెత్తురుచచ్చి తెల్లపారుట. Flesh, flesh meat. మాంసము, ఎరచి. పిల్లకాయకు నంజుడు పెరిగినది the boy has outgrown his age or strength. నం౛ుడుతిండి nanḍzuḍu-tinḍi. n. A flesh-eater, a carnivorous being. మాంసముతినువాడు. A demon, రాక్షసుడు. నం౛ుపారు nanḍzu-pāru. v. n. To becomne pale, through the blood having deteriorated; to become anaemic, నెత్తురు చచ్చి తెల్లపారు. వాని శరీరము నంజుపారినది he became anaemic. నం౛ులు nanḍzulu. n. Pickles or any thing eaten as a relish with food. 'మోనినంజులం జవిగొనుచుం గ్రోలిసోలి.' Parij. ii. 60. her lips being sauce for the dish.
