Milky juice or sap. చనుబాలు or చన్నుపాలు woman's milk, human milk. చెరుకుపాలు the juice of the sugar cane. టెంకాయపాలు the white juice expressed from the cocoanut kernel by pounding. (టెంకాయనీళ్లు is the water in the cocoanut.) మర్రిపాలు the milky juice of the banyan tree. పాలవంటివారు, పాల వంటి కులము men (or a tribe) like milk, i.e., candid, simple, pure, unspotted, blameless, honourable. పాలవంటి మనసు a pure mind, a simple heart. పాలుకారేముఖము a milk-distilling face, i.e., a face radiant with loveliness. పాల్గారుచెక్కుటద్దములు radiantly polished cheeks, beaming with beauty. పాలకడలి, పాల్కడలి, పాలకుప్ప, పాలమున్నీరు, పాలవాగు or పాలవెల్లి pāla-kaḍali n. [from పాలు milk and ఇల్లు a home.] n. A woman's breasts. పాలేరు pāl-ēru. (పాలు+ఏరు.) n. The river or sea of milk. పాల కడలి. A river in South India, the Palar.

(p. 735) pāḍu pāḍu. [Tel.] v. a. To sing. గానము చేయు. Also, to sell or to bid at an auction. పాడించు paḍinṭsu. (Causal of పాడు.) v. a. To have something sung. To proclaim, sell by auction. నా ఆస్తి యేలము పాడించిరి they sold my property by auction.

A sin, a crime. పంచమహాపాతకములు the five great sins, viz, killing a Brahmin (బ్రహ్మ హత్య), stealing gold (స్వర్ణస్తేయము,) drinking intoxicating liquor (సురాపానము) dishonoring a teacher's wife (గురుపత్నీగమనము) and association with such as are guilty of any of these sins (ఇవి చేయువారి తోడి సహవాసము) పాతకి or పాతకుడు pātaki. n. A sinner.

(p. 738) pādu or పాది pādu. [Tel.] n. A garden bed or plot smaller than a మడి. Also, the watered earth round a tree. The area or areola round the nipple or round a sore. Underneath, the nether portion, క్రిందు. Steadiness, నిలుకడ. పాదుకట్టు pādukaṭṭu. v. n. To divide into beds. పాదుకొను or పాదునిలుచు pādu-konu. v. n. To be grounded, established firm. To take root or gather strength have a footing. నాటుకొను, నెలకొను, తగులుకొను, నిలుచు. పాదుకొన్న being well grounded. పాదుకొలుపు pādu-kolupu. v. a. To fix, to ground, to establish. నాటునట్లుచేయు, స్థిరపరుచు. 'భక్తియుక్తిప్రసన్నత పంకజాక్షు, పాదపద్మంబులందునే పాదుకొలిపె.' Vish. i. 3.
