(p. 771) puruṣuḍu purushuḍu. [Skt.] n. A man. A husband. నా పురుషుడు my husband. మహాపురుషుడు a great person. పురుషకారము an attempt of man, human effort, పురుష ప్రయత్నము. పురుషోత్తముడు purush-ōttamuḍu. n. Lit: the best of men. The Almighty. పురుషము purushamu. n. A person in verbs. క్రియలమీది విభక్తుల సంజ్ఞ. ప్రథమపురుషము the third person. మధ్యమపురుషము the second person. ఉత్తమవురుషము the first person. పురుషరత్నము or మంగలింగము purusha-ratnamu. n. A species of violet or phallus flower, Viola suffruticosa. Ainslie. ii. 267. Ionidium suffruticosum. Wight, plate XIX. పురుషాయితము purush-āyitamu. n. Man-fashion; playing the husband. పురుషార్థము purush-ārthamu. n. An object of desire. The principal thing or object in life, i.e., ధర్మార్థకామమోక్షములు the gratification of desire, acquirement of wealth, discharge of duty, and final emancipation. ఇది చేస్తే పుణ్యమా పురుషార్థమా if one does this, does it bring merit or the satisfaction of one's desires?

(p. 753) piccaliñcu piṭsṭsalinṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To be in a stir, to be afraid, భయపడు, తల్లడపడు. To be proud, అతిశయించు. To sprout, to emanate, అంకురించు, పొటమరించు. 'చలంబుననెచ్చరిక పిచ్చలింప వ్రచ్చుచు.' R. v. 194. v. a. To talk or converse about, to praise, admire, ప్రశంసించు.

(p. 819) pōyu pōyu. [Tel.] v. n. To arise, to be born or produced, పుట్టు, చెమటపోయు to perspire, చెమటపట్టు. చీముపోయు to suppurate as a boil, చీముపట్టు. వానికి యింకా అమ్మవారు పోయలేదు he has never had the small-pox. v. a. To pour, as water. To cast in metal or found. To fit on, as a halter as ఉరిపోయు. To place an arrow in a bow (బాణమును) సంధించు or కూర్చు. అమ్మవారు నిన్న సేతులుపోసినది the small pox came to a head yesterday. కట్టపోసినారు they built a bank. నారుపోయు to sow seed, which is afterwards to be transplanted. ఆకుపోయు to transplant rice. గోడపెట్టి ముదురుపోసినాడు he built a wall and placed a cope upon it. తలబ్రాలు పోసినది she poured the blessed grain upon their heads (in marriage.) ఉచ్చపోయు to make water, to pass urine. వడపోయు or వడకట్టు to strain rice, &c. ఉరిపోయు to cast a noose. వృథాగా నా ఉసురుపోసుకొన్నాడు he has injured me without any cause. పురుడుపోసేనిమిత్తము దానిని పుట్టింటికి తీసుకొని వచ్చినారు they brought her home to lie in. వాడు దానిని నోట్లో పోసుకొన్నాడు he poured it into his mouth. ఆ చిన్నది వానిని నీళ్లు పోస్తున్నది the girl is bathing him. ఆమె చెట్లకు నీళ్లుపోస్తున్నది she is watering the trees. బిచ్చమెత్తి పొట్టపోసు కొంటున్నాడు he fills his belly by begging. ఆసుపోసినది she placed the thread in readiness for weaving. పోయించు pōyinṭsu. v. a. To cause to cast or pour; to erect. గట్టుపోయించు to raise a bank. విగ్రహములు పోయించిరి they had some statues cast.

(p. 804) poṭlu poṭlu. [Tel.] v. n. To become mouldy. పాచిపట్టు, బూజుపట్టు.

(p. 825) pragrahamu pra-grahamu. [Skt.] n. A rein, rope, కళ్లెమును దూర్చి రౌతుపట్టే లగాము, పగ్గము. Confinement, చెర. A prisoner, a captive, కైదుచేయబడ్డది.

(p. 825) prakvaṇamu or ప్రక్వాణము pra-kvaṇamu. [Skt.] n. The note of a lute. వీణాధ్వని.

(p. 763) puṇḍu punḍu. [Tel.] n. A boil, an ulcer, a sore. A blister. The reddish cake in the middle of a white-ant-hill. నాగొంతు పుండుగానున్నది I have a sore throat. రాచపుండు a carbuncle. పక్కలోపుండు పెంచెదవేమి why do you nourish a thorn in your side? Infl. పుంటి (S. iii. 370.) abl. పుంట. plu. పుండ్లు. పుండుచేయు punḍu-chēyu. v. n. To raise a blister, or make a sore. పుండ్ల రోగము venereal disease.

(p. 785) peṇḍe or పెండెబద్ద penḍe. [Tel.] n. A lath or small rafter, commonly called a reaper, a strip of wood. ఇంటివాసములమీద అడ్డముగా వేసికట్టే కొయ్య. A pannier or pack, being half a bullock load. పొగాకు మొదలయినవాటిలో సగము. విభూతి పెండెకట్లు or త్రిపుండ్రకము the triple line of ashes drawn across the forehead by worshippers of Siva, పెండెలవలె పట్టెలుగాతీర్చిన విభూతి రేఖలు.
