Celebrity, fame, notoriety. ఖ్యాతి. ప్రసిద్ధిగలవాడు a celebrated man. ఈమాట అంతటను ప్రసిద్ధిగానున్నది this story is known everywhere. ప్రసిద్ధము pra-siddhamu. adj. Known, celebrated, ప్రసిద్ధికెక్కిన. ఇది ప్రసిద్ధమయిన కావ్యముకాదు this is not a classical poem. ప్రసిద్ధపత్రిక or ప్రకటనపత్రిక a newspaper, a proclamation, a notification. ప్రసిద్ధిగా pra-sidḍhi-gā. adv. Confessedly, avowedly, notoriously. అతడు వస్తాడని ప్రసిద్ధిగానున్నది there is a general talk of his coming. ప్రసిద్ధిచేయు or ప్రసిద్ధపరచు to publish, or make known.

(p. 837) prayōgamu pra-yōgamu. [Skt.] n. An application, use or employment, as of a weapon, tool, word, or a spell. Administration of a medicine, నడుపుట. A usage. In grammar, a voice. కర్తృ కర్మ క్రియల కూడిక. మహాబిల్వాదిప్రయోగము a prescription of Bilwa and other drugs. దీనికి కాళిదాస ప్రయోగమున్ణది Kalidasa has used this word. యక్షీణీప్రయోగముచేయు to bewitch or send a devil into (a person.) ఈ ఔషధప్రయోగముచేసినాడు he administered this medicine. విషప్రయోగముచేసి చంపినాడు he killed him by means of poison. బాణప్రయోగముచేసినాడు he used an arrow, i.e., discharged it. ప్రయోగించు pra-yōginṭsu. v. a. To use, practise, administer; use, as a weapon. ఉపయోగించు. ప్రయోజకుడు pra-yōjakuḍu. n. One who uses. The original instigator of any act. A clever man, a genius. కార్యమును నెరవేర్చువాడు. వాడు శుద్ధ అప్రయోజకుడు he is quite a useless person. ప్రయోజనము pra-yōjanamu. n. Use, advantage, profit. A thing to be kept or observed, as a holy day, or a feast పండుగ. An affair, business. కార్యము. A cause, motive. హేతువు. శుభప్రయోజనము a happy occasion (as a wedding.) రేపు మాయింట్లో కొంచెము ప్రయోజనము గనుక రావడానికి వల్లలేదు I cannot come to-morrow as there are some rites to be observed at home. అక్కడికి నీవుపోయినందుకు ఏమి ప్రయోజనము what is the use (good, or advantage) of your going there? ప్రయోజనప్రస్తుతములకు వారిని మేముపిలువడములేదు we do not invite them to parties. In Grammar, ప్రయోజ్యకర్త the indirect agent (in the instrumental case.) ప్రయోజకకర్త the direct agent (in the nominative case.)

A good deed, a good or meritorious work or action, a work of supererogation, that which is more than required as a matter of duty. సుకృతము. adj. Virtuous, sacred, holy, pure, righteous. పవిత్రము. Good, excellent, మనోజ్ఞము. Charitable, generous. పుణ్యశ్లోకుడు a celebrated man. పుణ్యకథలు godly legends. పుణ్యకాలము an auspicious time. పుణ్యస్త్రీ (corrupted into పునిస్త్రీ) a happy woman, one whose husband is living. నన్ను ఉత్త పుణ్యానికి కొట్టినాడు he beat me without cause, meaning the same as నిష్కారణముగా. నీపుణ్యముచేత తొందరవచ్చినది (ironical) for this trouble we may thank you. ఇది అంతా మీ పుణ్యము this is all due to you goodness. నీపుణ్యముండును వాని జోలికిమాత్రము పోకు for goodness' sake do not meddle with him. పుణ్యానికి ఇచ్చినపొలము a field granted in free gift. A well known verse says. శ్లోకార్ధేన ప్రవక్ష్యామి యుదక్తం గ్రంథకోటిభిః, పరోపకారః పుణ్యాయపాపాయ పరపీడనం. పుణ్యజనుడు puṇya-januḍu. n. A man of excellence, a holy man, సుజనుడు. A Rākshasa, an evil spirit, రాక్షసుడు. పుణ్యజనేశ్వరుడు puṇya-janēṣvaruḍu. n. Kubēra. పుణ్యబూమి puṇya-bhūmi. n. The Holy land (of the Hindus), i.e., Hindustan, the land between the Himalayas and the Vindhyas. పుణ్యలోకము puṇya-lōkamu. n. Heaven. పుణ్యవంతుడు puṇya-vantuḍu. n. One who is holy or virtuous. ధార్మికుడు, అదృష్టవంతుడు. ఈ విషయములో అతడు చాలా పుణ్యవంతుడు. in this respect he is very lucky. పుణ్యస్త్రీ or పుణ్యాంగన puṇya-strī. n. A good housewife, good woman, lady. పుణ్యాత్ముడు puny-ātmuḍu. n. A holy, pious or charitable person, పుణ్యస్వరూపుడు. పుణ్యాహము puṇy-āhamu. n. A holy or sacred day, పుణ్యదినము. పుణ్యాహవాచనము puṇy-āha-vāchanamu. n. The consecration or hallowing of a ceremony. A ceremonial purification. పుణ్యుడు puṇyudu. n. A holy or virtuous man. పుణ్యులారా O holy men!
