Fruit, profit, use, advantage, benefit, a reward, result, consequence. దుస్స్వప్న ఫలము the fulfilment of a portentous dream. ఫలపడు phala-paḍu. v. n. To bear fruit, to avail, turn to good, turn out well. ఫలపరచు phala-paraṭsu. v. a. To make fruitful, to realize, to turn to profit, to use. ఫలపూరము phala-pūramu. n. The citron. ఫలవంతము phala-vantamu. adj. Fruitful, as a tree, ఫండ్లు గల. ఫలరాజము phala-rājamu. n. A certain red fruit, Momordica monadelpha. ఫలాహారము phal-āhāramu. n. A refection, refreshments, a slight meal of parched corn, cakes, fruit, &c. ఫలించు phalinṭsu. v. n. To be fruitful, yield fruit, పండు. To be of advantage, profit, turn out well, to be accomplished, be fulfilled, నెరవేరు. ఫలితము phalitamu. adj. Ripened, fruitful, profitable, advantageous. నా యత్నము ఫలితముకాలేదు my endeavour came to no good. n. Profit, fruit. ఫలితార్థము phalit-ārṭhamu. n. The ultimate import, purport, result, or point of a passage, the tendency as distinguished from the literal sense. ఫలినము phalinamu. n. A fruit tree. విద్యమాన ఫలవద్వృక్షము. G. iii.146. ఫలినీ phalinī. n. A tree called ప్రయంగువు, తరిగొర్రచెట్టు. ఫలోదయము phal-ōdayamu. Success, enjoyment, gain, profit; heaven, paradise, joy, happiness. ఫలోన్మఖము phal-ōnmukhamu. adj. Fruitful, effective, efficacious. అది యిప్పుడు ఫలోన్ముఖముగానున్నది it is now coming to good.

(p. 794) pēcakamu pēchakamu. [Skt.] n. An owl. పైడికంటి. The tip or root of an elephant's tail, ఏనుగుయొక్క తోకమొదలు. 'చెందిరము పేచకశీర్థము పైబలెన్.' A. v. 95. పేచకి pēchaki. n. An elephant. గజము.

(p. 752) picci or పిచ్చ pichchi. [Tel.] n. Madness, folly. adj. Fruitless, vain. Foolish, mad. Short, deficient in measure. Applied to plants, it means Wild, uncultivated. పిచ్చిచెట్టు a weed. పిచ్చిచీర a wild cucumber. పిచ్చిమామిడి a wild mango. పిచ్చివాడు one who is mad. పిచ్చిరూపాయి a light or counterfeit rupee. వానిపని అంతా పిచ్చి పిచ్చి అయిపోయినది his business is gone to dogs. పిచ్చివాన rain that does no good. In weights the పిచ్చనేరు, లేక, కచ్చానేరు means the smaller or false quantity as opposed to పక్కానేరు the greater or true weight. పిచ్చిపట్టిన or పిచ్చపట్టిన pichchi-paṭṭina. adj. Mad, foolish. పిచ్చిపట్టు selfishness, లుబ్ధత్వము.

(p. 844) prāci prāchi. [Skt. from పురా front.] n. The East. తూర్పుదిక్కు. Moss, పాచి. Dirt, filth, mouldiness, sliminess, as upon a stone near water. మాలిన్యము. ప్రాచీనము prachī-nanu. adj. Eastern, placed towards the East. పూర్వదిక్కుది Ancient, old. పూర్వకాలపుది. ప్రాచీనబర్హి prāchīna-barhi. n. An epithet of Indra. ఇంద్రుడు. ప్రాచీనావవీతము prāchin-āavītamu. n. The sacerdotal thread, worn (contrary to custom) over the right arm, and passing under the left. అపసవ్యముగా వేసికొన్న జందెము. ప్రాచ్యము prāchyamu. adj. Eastern. easterly, తూర్పుదిక్కునందలిది. n. The country south or east of the Sarasvati. శరవత్యవధి ప్రాగ్ధక్షిణదేశము.

(p. 754) pitṛlu pitṛilu. [Skt.] n. Fathers, ancestors. పితృతిథి pitṛi-tithi. n. A lunar day, on which offerings are made to the manes of ancestors. పితృపతి pitṛi-pati. n. The lord of the ancestors, i.e., Yama. పితృవనము pitṛi-vanamu. n. A cemetery. శ్మశానము, ఒలికిమిట్ట. M. iv. 18. పితృయజ్ఞము or పితృతర్పణము pitṛi-yagnyamu. n. An offering or sacrifice to ancestors. పిత్రార్జితము pitr-ārjitamu. adj. Earned by one's ancestors, inherited from one's ancestors, ancestral. n. Ancestral property. పిత్య్రము pitryamu. adj. Paternal, ancestral. తండ్రి సంబంధమైన, తండ్రిది. పితృవ్యుడు pitṛivyuḍu. n. A paternal uncle, తండ్రితోడబుట్టినవాడు.

(p. 759) piśaṅgamu piṣangamu. [Skt.] adj. Tawny, red, as hair. గోరోచనవర్ణముగల, కపిలవర్ణముగల.

(p. 763) puccakāya puṭsṭsa-kāya. [Tel.] n. The wild bitter melon, called Bryonia callosa, or Cucumis trigonus. కళింగము, కర్కారుకము. వెర్రిపుచ్చ the Colocynth plant, Citrullus colocynthis, Cucumis colocynthis. Rox. iii. 719. ఏటిపుచ్చకాయ the water-melon, Citrullus vulgaṛis (Watts) 'ఒజ్జలపుచ్చకాయ వితమారా.' T. iv. 214. టీ పుచ్చకాయ తినరాదనిగురువు అందరికిన్ని చెప్పి తాను తిన్నరీతి యగును.

(p. 838) pravahiñcu pra-vahinṭsu. [Skt.] v. n. To run or flow, (as a river.) పారు. ప్రవాహము pra-vāhamu. n. A stream, flood, current, వరద, వెల్లువ. Continuous passage or flow, unbroken succcession, continuity. పరంపర. ప్రవాహిక pra-vāhika. n. Diarrhœa, dysentery, అతిసారరోగము, పాచనాలు.

(p. 816) pōgara pōgara. [Tel.] n. A graver, or small chisel used by goldsmiths. శలాక, కంసలవాని పనిముట్టు. పోగరపని carved work. గుండుపోగర a rod for making rings. గుబ్బోగర a tapping chisel.

(p. 784) peñcu or పెనుచు penṭsu. [Tel. from పెను.] v. a. To nourish, support, take care of. To adopt or rear a child, పోషించు, సాకు. To increase, improve. To extend or swell. To exaggerate, to multiply. మాంసము మాంసమును పెంచును flesh meat increases the flesh. కలహము పెంచినాడు he fomented the quarrel. గ్రంథము ఊరక పెంచెను he spun the story (or book) out. గడ్డము పెంచు to grow or wear a beard తలపెంచు to wear one's hair long, to keep one's head unshorn. చెవులుపెంచు or చెవులు కుట్టించు to bore the ears. Chenn. iii.145. ముక్కుపెంచు to keep a hole open for a nose-jewel. దుఃఖముపెంచు to indulge in grief, దుఃఖముపొందు, దుఃఖించు.
