(p. 935) maṇḍu manḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To burn, blaze, flame. జ్వలించు. To smart, or give acute pain. చురుక్కుమని నొప్పిపెట్టు. To be in a fury or violent rage. కోపము మొదలగు వానిచేత తపించు. నా కండ్లు మండుచున్నవి my eyes are smarting or burning. అయ్యా నా కడుపు మండుచున్నదే alas! I am much grieved. ఈ మాట వింటే వానికి ఒళ్లు మండదా if he hears of this, will he not be in a fury? మండునెల manḍu-nela. n. A hot month, the hot weather వసంతఋతువు. మండించు manḍinṭsu. v. n. To provoke irritate, stir up.

(p. 972) mādhukaramu mādhu-karamu. [Skt. from మధువు.] n. Begging from house to house as a bee gathers honey from flower to flower, మధుకరవృత్తి.

(p. 932) mañci manchi. [Tel.] n. Good, మేలు, మంచి చెబ్బరలు good and evil. adj. Good, excellent, best; sound, fine, fair; much, great, severe (as a blow, a fever,) heavy (as rain.) adv. Very, మిక్కిలి. వాడు మంచివాడు he is a good man. మంచివారితో చెలిమిచేయుము seek the company of good men. మంచిపేరు a good name, i.e., reputation, character. వాడు మంచిపేరెత్తినాడు he gained good repute. మంచినీళ్లు good or drinkable water. వానితో మంచిమాటలాడి ఆ పుస్తకమును తెస్తిని. I spoke him fair, and brought the book. దీవియొక్క మంచి చెడుగులు వానికి నిమిత్తములేదు, లేక. దీని మంచి చెడ్డలతో వానికి ప్రసక్తిలేదు he has nothing to do with its good or evil fortune. మంచిగందము sandal, శ్రీచందనము. మంచిగాయము a severe wound. మంచిచేయి the right hand. మంచిదెబ్బ a sound or severe blow. మంచినిద్ర sound sleep. మంచినూనె sesamum oil. మంచిపాము a venomous snake, i.e., the cobra. మంచిపగడము real coral. మంచిపాలు pure milk, i.e., unmixed with water. మంచిముత్తెము a true pearl. మంచివాన heavy rain. ఇది మంచిబంగారా, కాకిబంగారా is this real gold or tinsel? ఒకటి మంచికుక్క ఒకటి వెర్రికుక్క one dog is sound, the other is mad. వానిమీద మంచితప్పు మోపినారు they have brought a serious charge against him. మంచిది పో well, you may go! మంచిది కానీ well, be it so! మంచితనము manchi-tanamu. n. Goodness, friendliness, gentleness. వానిని మంచితనము చేసికొన్నారు they spoke him fair or got him over. మంచితనాన అయ్యేది చెడుతనాన కాదు you may do that by fair means, which you cannot do by violence.

(p. 975) māma māma. [from Skt. మామక.] n. A father-in-law. Also, a mother's brother, మేనమామ. The same title is bestowed equally on the brothers of a father-in-law, as పినమామగారు, పెద్దమామగారు. The phrase శకునిమామ denotes 'Uncle Sakuni,' i.e., an evil counsellor. Sakuni was the maternal uncle of Duryōdhana. మామమామ an epithet of Vishnu, as he married Lakshmi the daughter of the Sea (సముద్రుడు) whose wife (Ganges) is related to him as a daughter, లక్ష్మీదేవిని పెండ్లాడినందున తనకు మామయైన సముద్రునికి పెండ్లామగు గంగాదేవి తనకు కూతురువరుస అగుటచేత విష్ణువు సముద్రునికి మామ అయ్యెను.

(p. 969) mājī mājī. [H.] adj. Cancelled. Former, late, last, past, మునుపటి, గడచిన. ఈ చట్టము మాజీ అయినది this law is repealed. మాజీతహశ్శిలుదారు the late Tahsildar. మాజూలు majūlu. adj. Dismissed from office.

(p. 979) mārcu mārṭ.su [Tel. causal of మారు.] v. a. To change, to alter, to exchange. To serve, as food, వడ్డించు. To transmute metals. పరివర్తనచేయు, వ్యత్యయముచేయు, ఒకటియిచ్చి మరియొకటి పుచ్చుకొను. To kill, slaughter, destroy, నాశముచేయు, చంపు. దినముమార్చిదినము every other day. మార్చుకొను mārṭsu-konu. v. a. To exchange or barter. పరివర్తనచేసికొను.
