(p. 992) muñcu munṭsu. [Tel. causal of మునుగు.] v. a. To dip, plunge, immerse. To plunge in ruin. నన్ను బొత్తిగా ముంచివేసినాడు he ruined me entirely. ముంచుకొను munṭsu-konu. v. a. To surround, to cover, ఆక్రమించుకొను. సిరాలో కలమును ముంచుకొని వ్రాసినాడు he dipped the pen in the ink and wrote it. See ముంపు.

(p. 1012) musalamu musalamu. [Skt.] n. A club, a pestle. రోకలి, రోకలివంటి ఆయుధము. ముసలాయుధుడు he who is armed with a club. ముసలకిసలయము musata-kisala-yamu. n. 'Club blossoms.', (an expression similar to 'milk from a stone') the name of a certain book.

(p. 1047) mōvu or మోవ్వు mōvu. n. A sprout, or shoot, the unopened sprout of a plantain tree, &c. 'ఆమోవులదూసిపోసి తమ ముందటి యీరములెల్లబాసి.' Nagnajit. ii. 113.

(p. 951) manikitamu mani-kitamu. [Tel.] n. Grief, affliction, sorrow. వ్యాకులము, దుఃఖము, విచారము. 'క తనయాగము విఘ్నముచే, సినకీడునవజ్రియింత చేసెను మీగో, ధనములుమిమ్మును గా చచెద, మనికితములు మానుడనుచు మదిగృపమెరయన్.' Vish. vii. 260. మనికితపడు manikita-paḍu. v. n. To be sorry, to grieve, దుఃఖపడు. మనికితపాటు manikita-pāṭu. n. The act of being sorrowful, దుఃఖపడుట.

(p. 959) mala mala. [Tel.] n. A mountain, కొండ. The axle bar on which the lever (మీట) of a కారెము turns. నీళ్లుతోడే దోసెకు వేసే అడ్డకర్ర మలగొంగ mala-gonga. n. An epithet of Indra, ఇంద్రుడు. మలమనికి or మలమన్కి mala-maniki. n. A monkey. మలయమ్మ mala-y-amma. n. The mountain goddess, i.e., Pārvati.

'మనుకులము రాచవారల, మనుకులకిరవగచుకలిమిమగువకునెలవై, తనరునయోధ్యానగరము.' R. i. 102. మనుకులకిరవగుచు, అనగా ఇండ్లకు ఉనికిపట్టుఅగుచు. మనికిపట్టు maniki-paṭṭu. n. Home, an abode. గృహము. మనుకువ manukuva. n. An abode, house, residence. వాసస్థానము. మనుగడ manugaḍa. n. Life, living. జీవనము, జీవించడము. Means of livelihood, జీవనోపాయము. 'మనుగడదప్పునొక్క మునిమాటలుచేకొననైతి.' M. XII. iii. 370. మనుచు, మంచు, మనుపు or మన్పు manuṭsu. v. a. To cause to live, to nourish, to take care of, bring up. మనజేయు, పోషించు, బ్రతికించు. మనుదిండి or మన్దిండి manudinḍi. n. Lit: That which eats earth, i.e., a kind of snake, ఒకవిధమైన పాము. మనుపరి manupari. n. A guardian, కాపరి, రక్షకుడు. మనుపీనుగు manu-pīnugu. n. A living corpse, జీవచ్ఛవము. మనువృత్తి, మనోవర్తి or మనువర్తి manu-vritti. n. Maintenance, support; a pension, allowance, stipend. మనువు manuvu. n. Life, living, జీవనము, బ్రతుకుట. Conduct, వర్తనము. Choosing a husband, the choice of a husband, మగని వరించుట. A husband, మగడు. A fitting match, implying a proper or respectable son-in-law. వివాహనిశ్చయము. అతడు కూతుళ్లకు మనువులుచిక్కక అల్లాడుచున్నాడు he is at a loss for a suitable match for his daughters. మంచిమనువుచిక్కితే కూతురికి పెండ్లిచేస్తాడు. if he meets with a suitable match he is ready to give his daughter in marriage. మారుమనువు a second marriage of a woman, ఆడదానికి రెండవ వివాహము. మనుగుడుపు manu-guḍupu. n. A final entertainment given by the bride's parents to the bridegroom, after the conclusion of the whole marriage ceremonies.

(p. 958) maruttu maruttu. [Skt.] n. Wind, air, వాయువు. A sort of demigod. వేలుపు. మరుత్వంతుడు or మరుత్పాలుడు marut-vantuḍu. n. An epithet of Indra as lord of the demigods. మరుత్సఖుడు marut-sakhuḍu. n. An epithet of Fire and of Indra. అగ్నిహోత్రుడు, ఇంద్రుడు.
