(p. 1070) rā rā. [Tel.] The infinitive of imperative of వచ్చు. See note under రమ్ము. మా యింటికిరా come, to my house. రాదలచినాడు he thought of coming. రాలేను I cannot come. 'దగ్గిర రానెదుర్కొని.' (T. iv. 173.) when he drew near, (she) turned towards him. రాక, రాకడ or రావడము rāka. n. Coming, arrival, approach. వచ్చుట. రాకపోకలు coming and going. రాక. adv. Without coming. రాకపోవు or రాకయుండు rāka-pōvu. v. n. Not to come or arrive. రాకు or రాకుము rāku. v. imp negative. Come not, do not come, రావద్దు. రాబడి rā-baḍi. n. Income, వచ్చుబడి. రాగాపోగా rāgā-pōgā, (lit: coming or going.) adv. In the end, finally, at last one way or another, with one thing or another. రాగాపోగా నిలిచినదియిది after all this is the remainder. రాడు rāḍu. (3d. pers. sing. masc. neg. aorist of వచ్చు.) He will not come, he does not come. రాదు rādu. (3rd. pers. sing. neut) It does not come. It is used as an auxiliary signifying prohibition: కోపపడరాదుగాని చెప్పుతాను you must not be angry but I will tell you. నిరాశకారాదు we should not give up hope. అట్లు చేసినట్టు ఎంచరాదుగాని we must not imagine he has done so, but yet. నేను ఇక్కడ ఉండరాదు. I must not stop here. రాని rāni. (neg. rel. participle of వచ్చు.) Which has not come which shall not come or does not happen. పనికిరాని or అక్కరకురాని useless. చెప్పరానిమాట what is not fit to be said. వచ్చీరానిమాటలు a half formed pronunciation as that of a child beginning to speak. వాడు వచ్చీ రానివానితో౛తే his coming is as useless as if he were absent. చదువురానివాడు one who cannot read, an illiterate man. చదవరానిజాబు an illegible letter, or a letter that should not be read. 'వచనములు రానికడుచిన్న వానినిన్ను' thee, a child unable to speak. Yamunā Charya Charitra. i. 73. రాను rānu. (first person neg. aor. of. వచ్చు.) I will not come or I do not come. Also, a noun neaning coming, as రానుపోను both coming and going, as రానుపోను both coming and going. రానుపోను పదిదినములుపట్టును to go and return will take ten days. రానున్నది that which is to come or to happen. 'రానిదికోరినరాదది రామన్నది కోరకున్న రాకుండదుగా' (Sumati. 137.) what cannot happen though desired: that which will happen though desired: that which will happen though undesired will not fail to come to pass. రాబట్టు rā-baṭṭu. v. a. To receive, receive back, recover, regain. వచ్చినదాన్ని రాబట్టు receive that which is sent to you. రామి rāmi. (negative verbal noun of వచ్చు.) The not coming, non-arrival, రాకపోవడము. plu. రాములు. చేయరామి impracticability. తిప్పరామి the difficulty of turning (it.) కానరామి the not seeing, the impossibility of seeing. 'అక్కచుడు రామినప్పుడు పొక్కుచునీదేవయాన' (Yayati. iii. 126.) grieved at his not coming or at his non-arrival.

(p. 1055) yātra yātra. [Skt.] n. Going, moving, proceeding, marching, travelling, పోవుట. A journey, march, expedition, voyage. Going on piligrimage, a pilgrimage, పుణ్యక్షేత్రములకు పోవుట. Whiling away the time, కాలము పుచ్చుట. యాపనము. దేహయాత్ర subsistence. 'భిక్షమెత్తి పరితోషమునంభు జియించి దేహయాత్రాకుశలంబుగైకొనుటధర్మము భిక్షునకున్.' Vish. iv. 181. నీచేతిమాత్ర వైకుంఠయాత్ర a pill from you is a pass to heaven.

(p. 1076) rāyi rāyi. [Tel.] n. A stone, rock, శిల. ఇటికరాయి a brick. రాయిరప్ప stone and rubbish. (here రప్ప is an anuk.) (Gen. రాతి. Instr. రాత. Plu. రాళ్లు. రాతికట్టుభూమి stony soil. చిట్టెపురాయి a lump of dross. ఉప్పురాయి a crystal or bit of salt. ఉప్పురాయివలె నేను ఒకకొడుకును పెట్టుకొన్నాను I have one single son whom I have kept as a pet. ఉప్పురాయివలె ఒకణ్ని ఉన్నాను. I am left solitary. A proverb says చలిపందిటికుండలో రాళ్లు వేయడము to dissuade one from a good deed. See రాతి.

(p. 1056) yāvamu yāvamu. [Skt.] n. The red animal dye called Lac, sealing wax. లక్క.

(p. 1066) rava or రవ్వ rava. [Tel.] n. A small particle. అణువు. A bit, తునక. A diamond. వజ్రము. A kind of horse's pace, అశ్వగతి విశేషము గోదుమరవ soojee or roulong, i.e., coarse wheat flour. రవలు small shot, తుపాకిలో వేసికాల్చే సన్నగుండ్లు. adj. Thin, fine, సన్నము. రవనెల్లా rava-sellā. n. A fine woven vest of transparent muslin. సన్నసెల్లా, ఉల్లిపొరవంటిగుడ్డ. రవంత or రవ్వంత rav-anta. n. A little, just a trifle. కొంచెము, స్వల్పము. adj. or adv. Tiny, a little, somewhat, rather. రవంతకష్టము it is a little difficult. రవగాలు or రవాలు rava-gālu. n. The name of a certain pace in horsemanship. అశ్వగమనభేదము. 'సీ రవగాలునకు సాటిరాకగాడ్పుపటాణి పొదలు పిగ్గునబోయి పొదలుసొచ్చె.' URK. i. 78. రవన్ని or రవ్వన్ని rav-anni. adj. A few, కొన్ని. రవపాళము rava-pāḷamu. adj. Very thin, as cloth, మిక్కిలి సన్నపాటి. రవమంచము Same as సకినలమంచము. (q. v.)

(p. 1067) raśana or రసన raṣana. [Skt.] n. A woman's zone or girdle, usually set with little bells. పదియారుపేటలుగల ఆడుదాని మొలమాలు.

(p. 1074) rāpulugu or రాబందు rā-pulugu. [Tel. రాచ + పులుగు.] n. Lit. the royal bird. A heron, or possibly the Black Ibis or king curlew. కంకము.

(p. 1075) rāyaḍu or రాయుడు rāyaḍu. [from Skt. రాజు.] n. King, master, lord, రా౛ు. (A word used only in compound phrases.) పులుగులరాయడు the king of birds, i.e., Garuḍa. తెనుంగురాయడు or ఆంధ్రనాయకుడు the name of the god worshipped at Chicacole. కొండలరాయడు the king of hills, i.e., the Himalaya. A title (like Mr.) assumed by certain Hindus as రామరాయడు, గోవిందరాయడు. రాయలు (plu.) was the title assumed by the last Telugu dynasty. the kings of Vijayanagar.
