Turned away, as the face. తిర్యక్పుండ్రము a mark drawn across the forehead. తిర్యగ్జంతువు or తిర్యగ్జీవి tiryag-jantuvu. n. An animal, a bird, a snake, &c., as being prone or having the face downwards in distinction from man who stands erect. తర్యగ్యోనిజము tiryag-yōnijamu. adj. Animated, born from the womb of a living being, as distinguished from plants. 'తర్యగ్యోనిజన్మము.' V. P. iv. 2.

To cease, go off, as, disease, be revoked, as an order. (p. 530) tiru tiru. [A Tamil word for Skt. శ్రీ.] adj. Blessed or holy. (This is used in a variety of ways by Vaishṇavites.) తిరుకాపు tiru-kāpu. n. Adorning the god. దేవతనలంకరించుట. తిరుకొలను a sacred tank, పుష్కరిణి. తిరుచూర్ణము the sacred powder used to mark the forehead by the Vaishṇavites, శ్రీచూర్ణము, తిరునామము, వైష్ణవబొట్టు. తిరుమణి [మణి = మన్ను] the sacred earth, a kind of white clay used in making the sectarian mark (నామము). తిరుపగూడ a small basket in which the తిరుమణి and other things are kept. తిరుపతి tiru-pati. n. A town, Tripati తిరుమల. తిరుమజ్జినము tiru-majjanamu. n. The sacred bath given to an idol. దేవతాభిషేకము. తిరుమన్ను same as తిరుమణి. తిరుమాళిగ tiru-māḷiga. n. A Vaishṇavite's word for a house (వైష్ణవపరిభాష యందు) గృహము.
