(p. 71) abhiṣēkamu abhi-shēkamu. [Skt.] n. Installation by anointing, initiation, royal unction, bathing, anointing, inauguration. స్నానము, మునక, పట్టముకట్టడము. దేవునికి అభిషేకము అయిన తరువాత after the idol was bathed. తైలాభిషేకము anointing with oil. చూర్ణాభిషేకము a particular rite of pouring turmeric powder over the head of an idol on the sixth day of the annual feast called బ్రహ్మోత్సవము. పట్టాభిషేకము coronation of a king. పట్టాభిషేకము చేయు to crown a king. రాజు ఆ కవికి స్వర్ణాభిషేకము చేసినాడు the prince showered bounties upon the poet. అన్నాభిషేకము చేయు to pour boiled rice over an image. అభిషేకించు v. t. To bathe, anoint. తల అంటు, మునిగించు. అభిషిక్తము abhi-shitkamu. [Skt.] adj. Installed by anointing, bathed, anointed. పట్టము కట్టబడిన, స్నానము చేయింపబడిన. అభిషిక్తుడు. n. (p. 247) kamānu kamānu. [H.] n. An arch, a bow. The spring of a carriage. విల్లు, విల్లువంపు కట్టడము. కమానుకర్ర kamānu-karra. n. The bow of a drill. కమానుబద్ద kamānu-badda. n. The spring of a watch. కమాన్్దస్తా kamān-dastā. n. A large bow for cleaning cotton. కమాను (from Fr. command) a march or military journey ఒకతుకిడీగా సిపాయిలు పోవడము. కమానుపోవు kamānu-pōvu (used by servants of Europeans) to go on circuit.

(p. 267) kācu kāṭsu. [Tel. from కాగు.] v. n. To be hot; to shine, as the sun or moon. To be hot as fever. To wait, dangle in attendence. నాకు జ్వరముకాచినది I had the fever on me. కొంచెము జ్వరముకాస్తున్నది there is a little fever. చలికాచుకొనుట to bask or sit by the fireside, or to warm oneself. ఎండకాస్తున్నది there is sunshine. ఆ చింతచెట్టు కాయడములేదు that tamarind tree does not bear. To wait for, attend on నాకొరకు కాచుకొన్నాడు he is waiting for me. అతని వద్ద మూడు ఏండ్లు కాచుకొని యుంటిని I was in attendance on his for three years. కాచు v. a. To boil; to heat, to warm. To bear fruit. కాగజేయు. ఆ ఊరంతా కాచి వడపోసినాడు lit. he has boiled and strained off the town, i.e., he has made himself master of the whole town. తేనీళ్లుకాచు to make tea. బెల్లము కాచడము sugar making. రాత్రి అంతా వారికి కాచడము కట్టడముతో సరిపోయినది the whole night was passed in fomenting and binding up the limbs.

(p. 448) cuñcu ṭsunṭsu. [Tel.] n. A projecting ledge on a house. The lock or knot of hair left on a man's shaven head. పిల్లజుట్టు. Strength బలము. A little child, an infant, శిశువు. A muskrat. కంపెలుక. చుంచుమూతివేసికొను to pout the lips. Lit. To make a face like that of a muskrat. చుంచు adj. Young. చుంచుబాలుడు a young child. చుంచెదుగుబాల an infant. చుంచుమిద్దె ṭsunṭsu midde. n. An overhanging tower or turret. గోపురమువలెపొడుగుగాకట్టిన కట్టడము. చుంచురాయి ṭsunṭsu-rāyi. n. A sort of slate stone used for roofs.

(p. 543) tūpi tūpi. [Tel.] n. A carlike structure over the place where the principal idol in a temple is kept గుడిలో మూల విగ్రహము ఉండే చోటికిపైన విమానమువలె ఎత్తుగా కట్టిన కట్టడము.

(p. 708) pani pani. [Tel.] n. Work, a task. కర్మము. Business, employment, వ్యాపారము. Workmenship, శిల్పము. ఈ కట్టడమునందు మంచిపని చేసియున్నారు there is good workmanship in this building. An affair, act, matter. Service, utility, purpose, object, intention, design. ప్రయోజనము. An order, duty, నియోగము. పనిమీద ఉన్నాడు he is busy. మంచిపని very well, well, good. మంచిపనిచేసినావు you did well or right. అతని పనిచూస్తున్నాను I am engaged in his service: I am acting for him. అతనిపని తీర్చినారు they settled his business, or they killed him. ఇక్కడ నీకేమిపని what business have you here? This word is sometimes omitted in translating; as in నీపనిపట్టిస్తాను I will punish you. ఇంతపనికి నన్నేల వెంటబెట్టుకొనివచ్చినావు why have you brought me for such a trifle or pretence? పనికిమాలి (or) పనిచెడి కూర్చున్నాడు he is sitting idle. వారు వ్యాధిచేత పనిచెడిరి they became infirm through illness. వానితో విరోధము పనికిరాదు he will not stand quarrelling. దాన్ని సంపాదించడము ఎంతపని it is no great matter to get it. నాపని చెరిపినారు they spoiled my work. పనిచెరువుకథలు idle stories. పనికి వచ్చే useful. పనికివచ్చే పిల్లకాయ a promising boy. పనికిరాని or పనికిమాలి useless. అక్కడికి నీవు ఏపనిమీద పోయినావు useless. అక్కడికి నీవు ఏపనిమీద పోయినావు about what business did you go there? నీపనిని నీవు చూచుకొనుము mind your own business. అక్కడికి పోవలసినపనిలేదు there is no need of going there. ఇప్పట్లో వానిపని యిట్లు ఉన్నది he is now in this state. అట్లు చెప్ప పని లేదు there is no need of saying so. పనిగొను pani-gonu. v. a. To undertake a work, to engage in a business. పూనుకొను. To employ, నియోగించు. 'పనిగొనవుతెలియగ బరికించి చూచిన.' Vēma. పనితనము pani-ta-namu. n. Workmanship, elegance. పనితనముగల ఒక మంచము a handsome bed. పనితొడవులు pani-toḍarulu. n. Worked or embossed jewels. పనిపడు or పనివడు pani-paḍu. v. n. To busy oneself with. to engage in, పూనుకొను. To concern oneself with, అక్కరపడు. పనివడి or పనిపడి pani-paḍi. adv. Intentionally. కావలెనని, ప్రయత్నపూర్వకముగా. 'పరులను పనిపడి దూషించెనేని పాపము వచ్చున్.' V. P. iv. 249. పనివాటులు jobs, work. పనిముట్టు or పనిమటము pani-muṭṭu. n. An instrument, tool, impelement. కొరముట్టు, ఉపకరణము. 'పనిమటములుగొంచు పయనమైరండు.' Pal. 314. పనివంచు, పని పంచు or పనిగొను pani-vanṭsu. v. a. To command. నియోగించు. పనివాడు pani-vāḍu. n. A servant: a good workman. పనివిను pani-vinu. v. n. To obtain permission, to take leave. To proceed, to go or come. 'దేవర కీర్తి వెక్కసంబుగ జెప్పవిని చూడగోరి, పనివిని నేను మాభాగ్యంబుకతన.' H.D.i. 847.

(p. 764) pu ccu puṭsṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To take. తీయు. To send, to remove. పంపు, పోవజేయు v. n. To decay, mortify, rot. పుచ్చిపోవు puchchi-pōvu. v. n. To be rotten, decayed పుచ్చు puṭsṭsu. adj. Rotten, decayed. 'గురువునకు పుచ్చుకూరైన నియ్యరరయవేశ్యకిత్తురర్థమెల్ల.' Vēma 69. పుచ్చు puṭsṭsu. n. The Sediment of oil. ఆముదపుమడ్డి. Filth. 'పప్పులోనుప్పు మిక్కిలి పారజల్లి, నేతిలో నాముదపుపుచ్చు నిండనించి,' Jagannadha. i. 67. పుచ్చు is used idiomatically with some nouns to give them an active force. ఆ బిడ్డను నిద్రపుచ్చినది she put the child to sleep. నూరు రూపాయలతో ఆ యిల్లు కట్టడమును సరిపుచ్చినాడు he finished the building of the house with a hundred rupees. మోసపుచ్చు to deceive, cheat. చిన్నపుచ్చు to disgrace. ప్రొద్దుపుచ్చు to pass or kill time, కాలక్షేపము చేయు. ఇంతప్రొద్దు పుచ్చినందుకు యేతువేమి what is the reason of your making so much delay? 'చాకివాడుకోక చీకాకుపడజేసి, మయలబుచ్చి మంచిమడుపుచేయు, బుద్ధిచెప్పువాడు గుద్దిననేమయా.' Vēma. 230. 'పరులమోసపుచ్చి ధరరూకలార్జించి, కడుపునించుకొనుటకానిపద్దు.' Vēma. 258.

(p. 873) bavanti bavanti. [Tel.] n. A house, containing an open area with rooms built at the corners and roofs between. నాలుగిండ్లు కలిపి కట్టిన కట్టడము. Variegated colors. చిత్రవర్ణము. బవంతిపట్ట a cloth which has flowers printed on it, చిత్ర వర్ణములుగలచీర. ప్రభా. iv.

(p. 934) maṇḍapamu manḍapamu. [Skt.] n. A porch, a portico, స్తంభములమీద కట్టిన కట్టడము. A bower, pavilion, చావడి, సభాభేదము, నాలుగు కాళ్లమండపము a four pillared portico. ముఖమండపము a porch of a temple. మండపి or గర్భమండపి manḍapi. n. A shrine, a sanctuary. గర్భగృహము. A small portico. చిన్నమండపము. 'గర్భమండపి గడిగిన కలశజలము.' A. vi. 7.

(p. 941) maccu matstsu. [Tel.] n. A model, standard, sample, pattern, specimen. మాదిరి, నమూనా. An upstair-house. A terraced house, మీదకట్టడము లేని మిద్దెయిల్లు. A shelf. A bait, మృగాదులు వలలో తగులుకొనుటకు ఉంచబడే ఆహారము. Love powder, చ్తొక్కుపొడి. Manner, way. 'మేల్మచ్చులుచేరి' going upstairs. UH. iv. 25. మచ్చులగుది a bunch of samples of gold or silver. మచ్చుచల్లు to sprinkle with love powder, i.e., to bewitch. మరలుమందుచల్లు ఆ బియ్యమంతా ఒకటేమచ్చుగానున్నది all the rice is alike. అరోగము అ దేమచ్చుగానున్నది the disease is in the same state. మచ్చుకత్తి matstsu-katti. n. A bill-hook or large wood knife. కట్టెలునరికేకత్తి. మచ్చుపొడి matstsu-poḍi. n. A love powder, an aphrodisiac. మరులమందు.

(p. 999) muṭṭu muṭtu. [Tel.] v. a. and v. n. To touch, తాకు. To attack as an enemy, శత్రువును తాకు. To touch or strike a sensitive part of the body, మర్మమునుతాకు. To besiege, ముట్టడించు. To be ended or finished, కడముట్టు. To arrive, be received, obtained. నాకు రూపాయిలు ముట్టలేదు I did not receive the rupees. ముట్టగొలుచు to worship to the end, or with unfailing devotion, కడవెళ్లకొలుచు. 'ముట్టగొలిచినఫలం బిట్టుండవలదె.' BD. v. 457. రాత్రి తుదముట్టగానే (Vasu. iv. 170.) as soon as night came to its close. ఇది తుదముట్టేదెన్నటికో when will this be finished? వానిని సర్పము ముట్టినది a snake bit him. n. Contact, touching, తాకుడు. Defilement by contact. Hence, the menses. A tool or instrument, ఉపకరణము. వానికి అంటుముట్టులేదు he does not care about being touched. పనిముట్టు or కొరముట్టు a tool. కన్నపుముట్టు (B. v. 807.) a house breaker's tool for boring walls adj. Defiling, foul, unclean, menstruous. ముట్టయిన menstruous. ముట్టుకొను muṭṭukonu. v. a. To touch, తాకు. To besiege, ముట్టడించు. To surround, encroach upon, ఆక్రమించు. ముట్టుకొలుపు muṭṭu-kolupu. v. a. To cause to touch or besiege. రామా. vi. ముట్టుకోలు muṭṭu-kōlu. n. A siege, ముట్టడి. ముట్టుకొలుగొను, ముట్టుకోల్గొను, ముట్టుకోలుపట్టు, ముట్టుకోల్పట్టు or ముట్టుకోలుపరుచు Same as ముట్టడించు. ముట్టుది or ముట్టుత muṭṭudi. n. A menstruous woman. ముట్టచెప్పు muṭṭacheppu. v. a. To assign. చెల్లగట్టు. నాకు పదిరూపాయలసొమ్ము ముట్టజెప్పినాడు. he paid or gave me ten rupees. ముట్టడి muṭṭaḍi. n. A siege, blockade. ఊరుచుట్టుకొని అరికట్టడము. ముట్టడించు or ముట్టడివేయు muṭṭaḍ-inṭsu. v. a. To besiege. ఊరుచుట్టుకొని అరికట్టుకొను. ముట్టడము or ముట్టణము muṭṭaḍamu. n. Compulsion, oppression, నిర్భంధము. The act of laying siege to a place, ముట్టడించుట. ముట్టించు muṭṭinṭsu. v. a. To cause to touch. To light a candle, to kindle, i.e., communicate (fire) తాకిమచు. ముట్టికాళ్లు muṭṭi-kāḷḷu. n. Knees that touch. ముట్టికాళ్లవాడు. a knock-kneed man. ముట్టికాళ్లువేసికొను to kneel down. ముట్టుపడు muṭṭu-paḍu. v. n. To be troublesome, సంకటమగు. ముట్టుపాటు muṭṭu-pāṭu. n. (p. 1044) mōceyyi , మోచెయి or మోచేయి mō-cheyyi. [Tel. మోద + చేయి.] n. The elbow. కపోణి. మోచేతివంపు triangular, having a projecting angle. మోచేతిపోటు a thump or poke with the elbow. మోచేతిముడ్పుటిల్లు two houses built as one, రెండిండ్లుకలిపి కట్టినకట్టడము.

(p. 1047) mōru mōru. [Tel.] n. A weal, coagulated blood under the skin, after a bruise. మోకాటిమోరు a node on the shin. వాచచికదుముకట్టడము. A mountain peak, పర్వతశిఖరము. Buttermilk, మజ్జిగ, 'గారెలుబూరెలు చారులుమోరులు.' ఉ. రా. vi. మోరుండ mōr-unḍa. n. A sort of cake. ఒక పణ్యారము. 'గారెలుబూరెలు మోరుండలు.' H. i. 117.

(p. 1093) laṅkiñcu lankintsu. [Tel.] v. a. To join, unite. తగిలించు, చేర్చు. To link or couple together, as two bullocks, పెనవేయు. 'గు౛్జుకోడెలబట్టుకొని ప్రీతిలంకించియుండ లంకియతోడగండుమీరి పారెనక్కోడియల్.' M. XII. iv. 39. To disgrace. అవమానించు. లంకించుకొను lankinṭsu-konu. v. a. To seize, or take by artifice. చెయి చిక్కించుకొను, తంత్రముగా వలలో వేసికొను. లంకె or లంకియ lanke. n. Coupling or tying two animals together. A link, connection. రెండుపశువుల మెడకు తాడుకట్టడము, పెన, కూడిక, సంబంధము, తగులుపాటు, కూర్చడము, సంగము. 'నీకునునాకున్ దైవంబులకెవేసెను.' Vish. vi. 31. ఆ రెండు చెరువులు లంకెలుగానున్నవి those two tanks are connected, lit: are as links. వానికి దుడ్డుకులంకె he is much attached to money. 'భార్గవతలమున భర్గస్వామికి కీలించెద లంకెగకేల్ముణుతలు.' H. iv. 303. లంకె or లంకెమానిసి lanke. n. A slave, vassal. బంటు, దాసుడు. లంకెవలుపు lanke-palupu. n. A tether that ties two animals together. లంకెపాటు lanke-pāṭu. n. Clinging together. ఒకటితోనొకటి కరుచుకొని యుండడము. Connection, తగులము. 'సీ లలనపాదంబున లంకెపాటై యుండి రాజనునేనూపురంబులార.' R. v. 280. లంకెపీట lanke-pīṭa. n. A wooden plank used in linking cattle together. పశువులను పెనవేయుపలక. లంకెపెట్టు or లంకెవేయు lanke-peṭṭu. v. a. To link together, తగులు పరుచు, పెనవేయు.
