(p. 178) ṛtuvu ṛituvu. [Skt.] n. A season. The Hindu year is divided into six seasons, each lasting two months, viz., వసంతము the spring, గ్రీష్మము summer, వర్షము the rainy season, శరత్తు autumn, హేమంతము the dewy season and శిశిరము the cold season. ఋతుకాలము ṛitu-kālamu. n. The menstruous period. A. ii. 22. ఋతుమతి ṛitu-mati. n. A menstruous woman. ముట్టుది. ఋతుస్నాత ṛitu-snāta. n. A woman who has bathed after menstruation. ఋతుస్నానము ṛitu-snānamu. n. Bathing after purification.

(p. 212) oyya or ఒయ్యన oyya. [Tel.] adv. With gentleness, softly, sweetly. 'శిరములొయ్యవంచి.' Mand. ii. 3. ఒయ్యనొయ్య gently.

(p. 378) gubbu gubbu. [Tel.] n. The beating of the heart. గుండె అదరుట. గుబ్బున suddenly, all at once, swiftly. 'గుబ్బునబడుశిరము గునిసెడుశిరము' BD. vi. 99. గుబ్బుమను or గుబ్బురను or గుబ్బుగుబ్బురను gubbu-m-anu. v. n. To beat as the heart. గుండె అదరు.

(p. 516) talamānikamu tala-mānikamu. [Tel.] n. A ruby worn on the head. అలంకారార్థము శిరమునందుంచుకొనే రత్నము. adj. Excellent, శ్రేష్ఠము.

(p. 531) tirumala tiru-mala. [Tel. తిరు+మల.) n. The sacred hill of Tirupati వెంకటాచలము. Any sacred hill. తిరుమలేశ tirumal-ēṣa. n. The Lord of Tirumala, a name employed in the chorus used by a poet who wrote a set of riddles: like this one; 'మూడుశిరములున్ను ముదమొప్పపదికాళ్లు గల్గు; తోకలురెండు కన్నులారు చెలగి కొమ్ములు నాల్గు చేతులు రెండయా, దీనిభావమేమి తిరుమలేశ.' The meaning of this is:--'a man ploughing with a pair of oxen.' See తిరు.

(p. 603) duśśiramu duṣ-ṣiramu. [Skt.] n. A plant, Menispermum glabrum. సుదర్శనలత, దూసరి తీగె.

(p. 605) dūyu or దుయ్యు dūyu. [Tel.] v. a. To penetrate, go through. గుచ్చుకొను. To pull off the scabbard, as a sword. To take palm leaves out of a volume. ఊడదీయు to strip off leaves or boughs. To pluck, take, as a handful of grass. వరదూసి pulling off the scalbard. దెబ్బ దూసిపోయినది the blow glanced off. పేగులు దిస్సిరాపొడిచి stabbed him so that the bowels came out. Pal. 424. దూయుతీగె Same as దుశ్శిరము. (q. v.) దూయించు dūyinṭsu. (causal of దూయు.) v. a. To draw across, to pass over. కాలినగడ్డపారచేత దూయించెను he passed a hot iron over the hand. (This is a ceremony of ordeal in oaths, quite distinct from cauterizing.) దూసిపోవు to go through or penetrate. To glance off, as a dart.

(p. 1405) dviśiramu dvi-ṣiramu. [Skt.] n. The biceps muscle.

(p. 884) bittaramu bittaramu. [Tel.] n. A flash of light. తళుకు. Brightness. A coquettish prank, an amorous gesture, శృంగారచేష్ట, ఒయ్యారము. 'బెళుకుబేడసమీలబిత్తరంబులకంటె.' N. ix. 404. బిత్తరముగ bittaramu-ga. adv. Flashingly. ప్రకాశముగా. Gracefully, సొగసుగా. 'సరిగె మెరుంగుబంగరువు చందురు కానిపటంబులూడ్చి బిత్తరముగ చల్వపావడలు దాల్చి.' N. ix. 401. బిత్తరములాడు to be bright, ప్రకాశించు. బిత్తరి bittari. n. A coquette, a flirt. A beautiful woman. ప్రౌఢస్త్రీ, శృంగార చేష్టలుగల ఆడుది. A woman, ఆడుది. 'బిత్తరులాహలాయుధునిబిల్వగ.' Balrāma. vi. 123. adj. Flashing, sparkling, తళుకైన, ప్రకాశమైన. Beautiful, సొగసైన. 'శిరమున కెంజడల్ నుదుట జెన్నగుబిత్తరిబొట్టువాతెరన్.' T. iv. 122. బిత్తరించు bittarinṭsu. v. n. To flash, to sparkle, మెరయు, తళుక్కుమను. To move about, చలించు, ఊగాడు. To crack jokes. సరసమాడు. 'బెళుకుబేడసచూపుబిత్తరింప.' N. ix. 159. బిత్తరపు bittarapu. adj. Flashing, sparkling, తళుకైన, ప్రకాశించే, 'సోమునిరీతినెమ్మొగము సుందరమౌదరహాస చంద్రికా, స్తోమములీనబిత్తరపు చూపులుదిక్కుల పిక్కటిల్ల.' Surabha. 18.

(p. 936) manda manda. [Tel.] n. A flock or herd of cattle. పశుసమూహము. A place where the flocks or herds are kept outside a village, ఊరికిబయట పశువులుండుచోటు. A hamlet, inhabited by herdsmen, గొల్లపల్లె. కుక్కల మంద a pack of dogs. మందకట్టు or మందకట్టుబాటు the bye-laws of shepherds. గొల్లలు ఏర్పరచుకొన్న ఏర్పాటు. ఆ చేలకు మందకట్టిరి they manured the field by penning sheep or goats on it. మందగొను manda-gonu. v. n. To come together in a crowd, మందగాకూడు. మందపిచ్చిక manda-pichchika. n. The name of a little white breasted bird with a black-head. శిరమందపిచ్చిక a species with a yellow breast. మందప్రోయాలు manda-prōyālu. n. A shepherdness; గొల్లది.

(p. 978) mārgaśiramu or మార్గశిర్షము mārgaṣiramu [Skt. from మృగశీర్ష.] n. The ninth lunar month (December-January), Wherein the moon's change takes place when the sun is in Sagittarius.

(p. 981) māsamu māsamu. [Skt.] n. A month, either of the lunar, solar, or any other computation of the year. నెల. The Telugu months are చైత్రము, వైశాఖము, జ్యేష్ఠము, ఆషాఢము, శ్రావణము, భాద్రపదము. ఆశ్వయుజము, కార్తీకము, మార్గశిరము, పుష్యము, మాఘము, ఫాల్గునము. అధికమాసము an intercalary month. క్షయమాసము a lost month. నిజమాసము the month proper. నక్షత్రచంద్రమాసము the time wherein the moon moves through a sidereal revolution. Also, same as మాషము a small weight.

(p. 1016) mūpu mūpu. [Tel.] n. The shoulder. భుజము. 'కుడిమాపుపై చిన్ని గొడుగు చెన్నొదవ డాపల గమండలుదండములు వెలుంగ.' Padma. vii. 176. 'నీవలమూపులావు. మునునేలవహించిన నాగకూర్మగోత్రావనిభృద్ది శాకరుల కారయనూరట పట్టుగాదె.' M. IV. ii. 191. మూపురము mūpuramu. n. A bull's hump. ఎద్దుయొక్క భుజశిరము, కుకుదము.

(p. 1020) meṇṭhamu menṭhamu. [Mahrati.] n. A ram. పొట్టేలు. 'రణములోనైన తనువికారంబులెల్ల, దేవతలకు శమించెవద్దేవుకరుణ, దాల్చెదక్షుండువీతన్యధా బలమున, గంఠనాళాగ్రమున నుండమెంఠశిరము.' Kasi Khand. vii. 139.

(p. 1251) śira ṣira. [Skt.] n. Any tubular vessel of the body, a nerve, a vein, a tendon, an intenstine, ధమని, నరము, ఈనె. శిరము, శిరస్సు or శిరసు ṣiramu. n. The head top. తల. శిరసావహించు ṣirasā-vahinṭsu. n. v. a. To place on the head; to acknowledge the receipt of (orders, &c.) ఆజ్ఞను శిరసావహించి in submission to your command, obediently, submissively. శిరస్త్రము or శిరస్త్రాణము ṣiras-tramu. n. A helmet, ఇనుప గోలుసులతో కట్టిన కుళ్లాయి. మకుటము, బొమిడికము. శీరోగృహము ṣirō-gṛihamu. n. A turret, an upper room. చంద్రశాల. శిరోజము or శిరోరుహము ṣirō-jamu. n.
