(p. 743) pārīṇata pārīṇata. [Skt. from పారము.] n. Complete knowledge, expertness. పారీణుడు Same as పారంగతుడు. (See under పారము.) సకలశాస్త్రపారీణుడు he who has thoroughly mastered all the sciences.

(p. 736) pāta pāta. [Skt.] n. One who takes care of or guards. కాచువాడు.

(p. 732) pākamu pākamu. [Skt.] n. Cooking, dressing food, boiling, వంట. Maturity, natural or artificial, as the state of being cooked or ripened. పరిపాకము. The style of an author: the chief distinctions of which are కదళీపాకము the plantain style, which is easily comprehended, the plantain being quite soft and without stones: ద్రాక్షాపాకము or grape style, which is very superior and more difficult, to understand, and నారికేళపాకము or cocoanut style, which is puzzling and dry, requiring time and consideration to digest it. దేహపాకము the constitution of the body. ఆమెకు పాకశుద్ధికద్దు she is a good cook. లేహ్యపాకము the concoction or preparation of medicine. పాకగేహము pāka-gēhamu. n. A kitchen. వంటయిల్లు.

(p. 742) pārāyaṇamu pārāyaṇamu. [Skt. from పారము.] n. Whole, అంతయును. Going over, reading or doing any thing completely, అంతయు చదవడము. Reading a Puraṇa, or holy book at daily lessons. వేదపారాయణము the recital of the Vedas. అతడు నిత్యము రామాయణ పారాయణము చేయుచున్నాడు he reads the Ramayaṇam daily in regular lessons.

(p. 733) pācitamu or ప్రాచితము pāchitamu. [from Skt. ప్రాయశ్చిత్తము.] n. Compensation, atonement. 'బహిపడ్డద్విజున కల్పపుపాచితంబిడి, పసిడికైతా వాని బంతిగుడిచి.' A. vi. 91.

(p. 735) pāṭu pāṭu. [Tel. from పడు] n. A fall. పడుట. Suffering, శ్రమము. Labour. A movement, an action, చర్య. Distress, misfortune, hardship, mishap, ఆపద. Time, occasion. సమయము. Manner, way, mode, విధము. A declining state. The ebb of the tide. సముద్రపునీరు పొంగి తగ్గుట. రెప్పపాటు (lit: eye-lid-fall.) a wink or blink. బల్లిపాటు the fall of a lizard. చెవిటివాడు పెదవిపారు గ్రహించును a deaf man understands the motions of the lips. వారు పడే పాట్లు చెప్పనలవికాదు the hardships they suffer are indescribable. కుక్కపడేపాట్లు పడుచున్నాడు he leads the life of a dog. ఎన్నిపాట్లు పడినను వాడు చిక్కలేదు though we did all we could we did not find him. వాడు పడ్డపాట్లు వృధాగాపోవునా will all his trouble be in vain. వచ్చినపాటుననే as soon as he comes. అది ఆపాటుననే ఉన్నది it remains as it was, it remains unaltered. అది యేపాటుననున్నదో ఆపాటుననే ఉండనిమ్ము leave it as it is . అదోకపాటుగానుండేనేల a declivity, slope or descent. పోటుపాటు the ebb and flow of a river or sea, బోర్లపాటులు vile pranks. పొరపాటు an error. Added to some verbs it serves as an affix like-tion, -ness or -ment and forms a noun, as నగుబాటు laughter. తగులుబాటు cost, expenditure. దిద్దుబాటు a correction. కుదురుబాటు settlement. ఒంటరిపాటు loneliness. ఒంటరిపాటున alone, unaccompanied. ఆపాటున where-upon, thereupon, on that occasion. పనిపాటులు jobs. పాట్లమారి a drudge, మిక్కిలి శ్రమపడు స్వభావముగలవాడు. పాటుపడు pāṭu-paḍu. To toil, to labour. శ్రమపడు. పాటుసాగించు pāṭu-sāginṭsu. v. n. To cultivate, to begin cultivation operations. పాటునబడు pāṭuva-baḍu. v. n. To come back to the original position. యథాస్థితికివచ్చు.

(p. 731) pāñcālamu pānchālamu. [Skt.] n. The Punjab. The country north of Delhi, between the foot of the Himalayas and the Chambal. పంజాబుదేశము. పాంచాలి pānchāli. n. The daughter of the king of Pānchāla; a title of Draupadi, the wife of the five Pāndu princes. ద్రౌపది. పాంచాలిక pānchālika. n. A doll or puppet, an image carved on pillars, &c. బొమ్మ, నరమృగాదిరూపము. పాంచాలుడు pānchāluḍu. n. A member of any one of the five castes of artificers, viz., the carpenters, weavers, barbers, washermen, painters. వడ్లవాడు, సాలెవాడు, మంగలవాడు, చాకలవాడు, ముచ్చివాడు, ఈ అయిదు జాతులందు దేనిలోనైనను చేరినవాడు.

(p. 731) pāṇḍavulu pānḍavulu. [Skt. from పాండు (రాజు)] n. The Pānḍus or princes of the house of Pānḍu. The ancient heroes. Aborigines. పాండవులనాటినుండి time out of mind, అనాదిగా. పాండవబీడు land that has never been brought under the plough, an immemorial waste. పాండవ యిండ్లు prehistoric tombs, tumuli.

(p. 741) pāyamālī or పాయిమాలి pāyamālī. [H.] n. Remission granted to a renter on account of the depredations of an enemy, cattle, &c.

(p. 740) pāmu pāmu. [Tel.] n. A snake or serpent, సర్పము. An eel of any kind, called కళ్లెం పాము, మలుగుపాము, చెమ్మేనిపాము, తవిటిపాము కొమ్మిరెపాము and Russell on Fishes, No. 31, 35, &c. నలికండ్లపాము the black dotted lizard. వానపాములు maggots in rain water. పాములగద్ద pāmula-gadda. n. A sort of heron. Jerd. Catal. No. 13. పాములనారిగాడు pāmula-nāri-gāḍu. n. The Common Heron. Ardea cinerea, or, the purple Heron, Ardea purpurata. (F.B.I.) పాముకొండ pāmu-donḍa. n. A species of దొండ (q. v.) పాములవాడు pāmula-vāḍu n. A snake catcher or charmer పామువేలు pāmu-vēlu. n. A name for the middle finger.
