(p. 1105) lulāyamu lulāyamu. [Skt.] n. A wild male buffalo. కారుదున్నపోతు. లులాయి lulāyi. n. A female buffalo. అడవిగేదె.

The husband of Lakshmi. లక్ష్మీమనోహరాలు lakshmī-manōharālu. n. A certain kind of rice. H. iv. 158. లక్ష్మీవంతుడు lakshmī-vantuḍu. n. A man of wealth. భాగ్యవంతుడు, సంపదగలవాడు. లక్ష్మీవారము lakshmī-vāramu. n. Thursday, గురువారము, బృహస్పతివారము, బేసవారము.

(p. 1137) valadu or వద్దు valadu. [Tel. negative aorist of the verb వలయు.] v. Ought not, must not, do not. అట్లు ఉండవలదా or ఉండవద్దా should it not be so, ought it not to be so? నాకు వలదు or నాకు వద్దు I do not want it. అట్లు వద్దండి I pray you not to do so. అట్లలు చెప్పవలదు do not say so. నేను రావలదా am I not to come? ఈ రూకలు ఇయ్యవలదా is not this money to be paid? నాతో చెప్పవలదా should you not tell me? నన్ను వలదన (i.e., వద్దని చెప్పడమునకు) నీకు న్యాయముకాదు it is not right that you should forbid me? 'వలదుమీరలిచట వాగ్వాదమొనరింప' it is not right for you to begin a quarrel.

(p. 1100) lāgu lāgu. [Tel.] v. a. &n. To pull, haul, drag, draw. ఈడ్చు. వాడు ప్రాణము విడుచునప్పుడు వానికాళ్లుచేతులు లాగినవి in dying his arms and legs were drawn up, or were contracted. n. Attraction, ఆకర్షించడము. Consent, సమ్మతి. Manner, విధము. A summer sault, leap, లంఘనము. Short drawers, reaching only to the middle of the thigh. చల్లడము. లాగించు lāginṭsu. v. a. To cause to pull or drag, లాగునట్లుచేయు. లాగుకొను lāgu-konu. v. a. To take by force, seize. బలాత్కారముగా తీసుకొను, అపహరించుకొను. లాగుబడి lāgu-baḍi. n. Expense, cost. లాగులాడు lāgul-āḍu. v. n. To struggle, పెనగులాడు. లాగు or లాగున lāgu. adv. Like, as, రీతిగా, విధముగా, వలె. 'వెలయుహరిశ్చంద్రువిధమున, నలునివీకను, పురకుత్సుచాడ్పున, పురూరవునిలీల. సగరులాగున. కార్తవీర్యు మర్యాదగను. గయునిక్రియ.' H. i. 42. ఏలాగుననున్నది how is it, in what fashion is it? ఈలాగున in this way. అలాగున in that manner? అతడు చెప్పిన లాగున according to what he said? అది అయ్యేలాగున చేయవలసినది you must manage to get this done. మాకు అందేలాగు so that it may reach us. మొద్దులాగు నిలిచినాడు he stood stock still. వాని ముఖములాగు ఉండెను it looked like his face. ఇట్లు చేసేలాగున చెప్పుము tell him to do so.

(p. 1113) lōḍu lōḍu. [Tel.] n. A cushion to lean on. ఒరుగుదిండు. v. a. To rake up as with a finger, వ్రేలులోనగువానితో కెల్లగించు.

(p. 1119) vampu vampu. [Tel. from వంగు.] n. Crookedness; a bend, curve. వక్రత్వము, వంకర. తలవంపులు hanging the head; shame, disgrace. adj. Bent, crooked, వంగిన, వంకరైన.

(p. 1139) valayu valayu. [Tel.] v. n. To be liked, desired or wanted. ఇష్టమగు, విహితమగు. To be needful, or necessary, ఆవశ్యకమగు. To be proper, యుక్తమగు. To be surrounded, వలయతమగు. 'మృగమువలయంబారెన్.' పంచ. నా. ii. 'స్వబుద్ధిరాజుకు విశేషింపవలయు' (P. i. 391.) the use of his own judgment is much needed in a king. 'కయ్యమునకు నెయ్యమునకు వియ్యమునకు సమతవలయు.' (ib. ii. 47.) in combat, in inter-marriage, and in friendship equality is wanted; or, there should be a similarity. 'ఔగాములరయవలయు.' (ib. iv. 431.) you should look to the chances of gain or loss, of success or failure. వలె, వలెను, వలసినది or వలయును are added as auxiliaries, to the Root in the Infinitive of any verb; to give the idea of obligation or necessity; నేను ఇమటికి పోవలెను I must go home. నీవు ఇక్కడికి రావలెను you must come here, you should come here, I hope you will come here. తమదయ రావలెను మా దరిద్రము తీరవలెను I hope your favour will come and that my poverty will be removed. ఆయన రేపో ఎల్లుండో రావలెను he must be here tomorrow or the next day, i.e., we expect him here tomorrow or the next day. వాడు దానితమ్ముడుగా ఉండవలెను I suppose he must be her brother. నాకు ఆ పుస్తకము కావలెను I want that book. వాణ్ని చంపియుండవలెను they must have killed him. నీకు అట్లురావలెను this serves you right. నీవు సందేహింపవలసినదిలేదు you need not doubt it, there is no occasion to doubt it. వాణ్ని పిలువవలెనని అక్కడికి వెళ్లితిని I went there to call him. ఈ పని చేయవలెనని పోవుచుండగా as I was going there to do this. జగడమాడవలెనని వస్తివా did you come on purpose (or wanting) to quarrel? వలసి (the past p|| of వలయు.) ఇవ్వవలసి యిస్తిని I paid it, because I had to. 'నిశాచరునుద్యోగంబుచూచుకొనవలసి.' Swa. iv. 163. అట్లు చేయవలసివచ్చును it will become necessary to do so. వలసిన (past part of వలయు) is used as an affix (similar to the Latin-ibilis or endus). చెల్లింపవలసిన సొమ్ము money due, the sum payable. 'వ;సినసంపదల్ గలుగవా.' T. ii. 34. టీ వలసిన, కావలసినటువంటి. వలసె or వలసెను (the past tense of వలయు) it became necessary, or requisite. వానితో చెప్పవలసె I was obliged to tell him.
