(p. 492) ḍagguttika ḍagguttika. [Tel. డక్క+కుత్తిక.] n. Fluttering accents, a tremulous voice. The failure of the voice from dryness of the throat, caused by terror, &c. గద్గదస్వరము. డగ్గుత్తికయినంతట her voice failing with anxiety.

(p. 497) ṇ ṇa. The letter N sounded as a palatal. No Telugu word begins with this letter. In some words డ changes into ణ. Elsewhere ణ Ṇ and ళ Ḷ are accounted the same: thus మళిగె or మణిగె. Sometimes ణ changes into న N as చెణకు or చెనకు.

The doctrine of Faith as opposed to that of Works. జ్ఞానదృష్టి gnyāna-dṛshṭi. n. Spiritual vision, supernatural intelligence, the prophetic eye: second sight. Clairvoyance. జ్ఞాననిద్ర gnyāna-nidra. n. A deep unnatural sleep, such as occurs in Mesmerism. Ecstasy. A metaphysical delirium which suspends the senses. యోగనిద్ర. జ్ఞానమార్గము gnyāna-mārgamu. n. The path of wisdom; the doctrine that salvation is to be obtained by means of meditation on, and the consequent union with the Supreme Spirit. జ్ఞానశరీరము gnyāna-ṣarīramu. n. The spiritual body: as distinguished from the corporeal body. (స్థూలశరీరము, or మాయాశరీరము.) జ్ఞానస్వరూపము gynāna-svarūpamu. n. The spiritual form or image, invisible to the mortal eye. జ్ఞాని gnyāni. n. One who possesses wisdom, a philosopher, a sage, a prophet, an inspired teacher. జ్ఙానముగలవాడు. జ్ఞానేంద్రియము gnyānēndriyamu. n. An organ of perception. A supernatural sense, such as the power of perceiving spirits. See Tantra Rajam. XVII. 4. జ్ఙానేంద్రియములు senses of perception or knowledge as opposed to కర్మేంద్రియములు senses of action. The five senses of man as త్వక్కు Touch, చక్షువు Sight, శ్రోత్రము Hearing, జిహ్వ Taste and ఘ్రాణము Smell.

(p. 431) ceruvu cheruvu. [Tel.] n. A tank or artificial lake. తటాకము. v. a. To insert, stick in, to cut. చెక్కు. To pierce గ్రుచ్చు. A. v. 152. Kanak iv. 263. n. Cutting into slices చెక్కుట. చెరువు కాకి cheruvu-kāki. n. A cormorant.

(p. 408) ciñcu chinṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To tear, to rend. చించుకొను chinṭsu-konu. v. a. To tear or rend. To be disgusted or annoyed. ఏల గొంతుచించుకొంటావు why split your throat with roaring?

(p. 459) janyamu janyamu. [Skt.] n. A battle. యుద్ధము. జన్యతలము janya-talamu. n. The field of battle.

(p. 435) cēpu chēpu. [Tel.] v. n. To let the milk flow, to give forth, emit (as a breast does milk). ఎగచేపు to withhold the milk, or keep it from flowing, as a cow does unless her calf is near her. 'కరము సంతసిల్లికుమారుం, గనిచున్నులుచేపిముదంబున.' (M. I. v. 37.) at the sight of her child the milk sprang from her breast with affection. ఆవు పాలుచేపలేదు the cow withheld her milk. చేపాకు a plant the leaves of which are given to cows to make them give milk freely. చేపు or చేపుడు n. A gush or spirt, as of milk. చేపుట.
